The gym it self is very spacious and tidy and clean but the changing rooms and the toilets and showers and sauna have a really bad smell of sewage and is very sickening to smell
Excellent gym and great value for money . The staff all work really hard to keep the gym floor tidy , and are always on hand to help if you need anything . You are always felt welcome here. They have... See more

The gym itself is excellent but since joining I have noticed an intolerable smell in the male changing rooms every day of a strong ammonia smell
There is no way I will be getting showered in there

For what you pay the gym is severely underdeveloped with a lack of good equipment for a large amount of customers, this gym has not had any improvements since it opened, it is due a referb.

Many machines broken, it's hot, no air flow, they prefer to open the doors. They think that will solve the problem

Super simple and easy to use. Loads of equipment and good facilities. Just need to find the time that suits your needs as place is always incredibly busy. I go at 5/6am and it’s still busy then but don’t have to wait long for equipment as it’s so big.

Gym itself is ok and advantage of being open 24/7. Plenty of parking and plenty of equipment but feels dated and the tech is aged. Used a rowing machine that the screen didn’t work and the one next to me made an awful clacking sound when used. A 3rd had the level selector lever missing.
Treadmills have no TV functions on them with small screens.
Lockers you have to bring your own padlock in for where a trolley coin system would be better.
Guest WiFi is very slow and poor - not sure what purpose it actually serves.
Changing rooms have an awful stench to them - ventilation isn’t right with worn floors and staining around urinals doesn’t seem appealing.
Cleaning check sheets seem to be a tick box exercise too.
Gym equipment is clean and staff active in this space and plenty of space for people to carry out their activities in peace.
Outside needs a clean - a litter pick, window clean and store rooms visible with old equipment and paint tins doesn’t seem appealing.
But for the price you pay, positives balance the negatives.

Gym is area is clean and machines are fine just men’s changing room smells like fish and you can smell the drains in shower
Showers are not very powerful and you have too put your ass up to the wall to get the water on you

On my first day, I had a problem with the vending machine and the padlock for the lockers but someone came straight up to me to help and then explained where everything was in the gym. Really nice and welcoming.

They have got all the machines that I need for training (it would be great if they could get a more modern decline bench as this one hurts my back and not really adjustable to my height etc). The coaches are always readily available and helpful every time I have a question. And the best part of all is, of course, the sauna- the only reason I travel to this gym instead of my local JD (Kirkstall).

No updates prior to the classes if the class is cancelled. I went in for a Zumba class, 15 minutes later after nudging some of the team members if the class was still there, we were told the class was cancelled. Not fair for the people who come to the gym for the classes.

A decent gym if you are able to go during the day.
Gym gets far too crowded on an evening.
Changing rooms and toilets aren’t always clean. It can be difficult to get changed in the changing rooms as people spend ages posing for pictures in the mirrors! Equipment is often broken or well used and worn and can take ages to be fixed.
There is not enough equipment for the amount of people, especially stair masters, smith machines , when multiple classes are on at the same time there is a lack of free space to workout .

Lots of equipment. Spacious.
Cardio equipment is pretty basic, a number of the treadmills are broken or rattle when you use them.
Not the cleanest of gyms.
Good equipment. Friendly and very helpful staff. Nice vibe that makes you want to come back. That's why I go every day now.
I’ve see JD Gyms for a few years and this one isn’t the best but it’s not bad. The kit available is good, the only thing that lets ot down is that the padding on some of the machines is worn and cracked and could do with replacing and the clip in equipment on the three multi exercise machines is either very worn, damaged or missing. These could do with a really good refresh as they are popular machines.
These Gym is tidy, and so are the locker rooms, and it’s got a good atmosphere that makes it a nice place to work out.
Just a few touches to refresh and replace missing / worn kit and it would have been a 5 star rating.

Apparently no contact, close any time is false advertising , now you need to give 1 month notice if you want to terminate your no contact deal. The gym is way overcrowded between 6 and 9 and not that im very athletic and I need to use certain machines but at that hour you can either cicle or run on the treadmill if you’re not breaking you knees on a broken one.
Thanks a lot JD for changing me £20 pounds for not giving 1 month notice.
