The gym is well equipped, clean and tidy. There could do with have more stations for wiping down the equipment. The showers are not good - low power and are at a fix angle and a fixed temperature plus the water is on a timer which for the shower I was in was about 30 seconds so it felt like I was constantly pressing the button.

I like the spaciousness and lots of equipment, and I like that it has a sauna - rare for a budget gym.
I don't like you can't control the shower temp - after a sauna you badly need a cold shower to reduce your core temp, or you're still sweating like a dog while getting dressed in your fresh cloths (which will be sodden in sweat for this very reason). Would also like some private cubicles in the changing rooms, not everyone wants to feel completely naked/exposed in a gym full of massive muscley blokes, especially when sometimes there's an intimidating "gym bro" vibe. It shouldn't feel like a 1970s prison movie.

Toilets at manchester city centre one haven’t been fixed - how can one use the gym effectively without having to worry about where to go to toilet? Looks like no one is bothering to trying to get them fixed asap

This gym would be amazing if it wasn’t for the constant influencer bellends filming everything on their sad little tripods. The staff are supportive but there is nothing they can do by the look of it to sort this out. This needs just a full on ban. No one needs to film their workouts. It’s not a right, it’s not a need: the fact that gyms allow this makes the gym experience so much worse than it could be: oh wait I know I will place my tripod in the middle of the room so my fans on Instagram can see how I can bench press 60kg. Wow! This whole tripod bullshit is getting embarrassing now: if JD Gym banned it all they would gain customers not lose them because me and my friends are currently looking for an alternative: I heard Federation gym has an anti filling policy. Will be trying that out asap.

Nice staff very accommodating. However the venue is so HOT. No air-con on if you are going to do cardio take multiple towels as you will be leaking. I went in over a couple of hot days thinking it would be nice and cool being in a basement but was hotter than outside.

I like the eleiko plates and large weightlifting area. However, I wish there are some 1, 2kg plates for lifting. 1.25kg plates are not enough. Also, I wish there are cleaning wipes for people to use.

Amazing variety of equipment, very friendly and helpful staff. Superb value for money with amenities like a sauna and large changing rooms with the best lighting of any commercial gym I’ve been in. Would get 5 stars if it was open 24 hours

So glad I rejoined JD gym Manchester. The gym looks and feels so much better after the recent refurbishment. So much more equipment and they've made much better use of the space. It's a good vibe, and find myself now going more often, than my previous gym. I love it 💚

The gym itself is amazing, plenty of equipment and space. There’s equipment here I never seen or used before BUT…. The amount of tripod influencers is annoying. The gym terms state no paparazzi but I do not see this being controlled by the gym staff. Believe it or not, not everyone wants a camera pointed in their face. SORT IT OUT!

Women cleaners allowed in Male changing room. Unacceptable. Same reason why men cleaners in women changing room should not be allowed due not to feeling comfortable. Not even debatable.
Raised this issue to Manager Chloe who was completely dismissive. Ridiculous
