Equipment is a bit dated, mainly the cardio machines . Was a bit disappointed with that

Nice Gym. Good place for work out, Enough exercise instruments.
Shower rooms are smelly, need bit more cleanliness.

Good value on the face of it for a fair sized gym with a sauna for not much over £20. The general decor and 2 separate training rooms look great inside. I hear the spin class is… class!

There are however, some improvements to be made:

Music a bit too loud - off putting if you’re not into dance music, probably why there are a lot of chavs in this gym.

The kit is battered in places, the gym obviously sees a lot of traffic which is good for the gym no doubt - some of the stuff has seen better days, if this is to be a high traffic gym that’s not a problem, but kit maintenance needs to be improved guys.

Generally I think the JD own brand kit needs an overhaul. The benches are very short, and what is with the grey metal plates over the weight sections? It’s not very easy to see what weight you’re lifting unfortunately. Minor gripes but some of it needs a service etc. a more frequent clean wouldn’t go amiss either to be honest - especially in Jan when it’s rammed.

Staff seem helpful which is great

Half the men’s Showers are out of order - might not seem a big issue but the men’s changing rooms is rammed at the minute, creates a naked traffic jam around the showers and sauna. Not my idea of fun! (Might be for some)

Door scanners rarely work - pretty annoying

It gets pretty warm in there with so many people - is the air con fully functional?

Overall 50/50 - if JD kept on top of maintenance and cleaning of the facilities this could be a better gym. Has potential

Got everything you need staff are very approachable great gym

Brilliant gym and classes with fantastic instructors. Love it.

Friendly helpful staff, lots of great equipment and a superb sauna and cold shower.

Warning: be very weary they get virtually all negative feedback deleted off here. Ask yourself why only the most bland 8 x reviewed of 1 star feedback remain. They have had deleted mine and my girlfriend’s previous posts at the start of the year on this place.

Day 1: Just joined back at Jd shiremoore on their £5 Black Friday deal. Just as I did last year I’m leaving the exact same feedback. There is still
Virtually no WiFi signal here in a less than quarter filled early morning gym, the showers are still lukewarm and last only for a few seconds at a time - worse is the gents toilets hygiene are still the same - urine pools left for hours and feaces stains all over the white Porcelin and plastic parts of both toilets.

Day 5 -The gents toilets have been filthy every day all week (see photos all on separate days) with pools of urine and feaces marks on the toilets for hours. Gym staff lounging about doing nothing all day sat on their back sides around reception and their back office instead of checking on these basic things.

I mentioned it to them at the start of the week twice and both the male and female gym staff just said that the cleaner would be round shortly to sort it. They never did in the 3 hours I was there and the staff didn’t even bother to go and get a mop themselves or even look at the state of the toilet.

I came back here a year after my last review to see if they’d turned it around by now yet. Sadly they have not. My advice is use the £5 black Fri deal and ditch it afterwards is the only thing I can say, certainly don’t bring your family or friends to this filthy place.

It’s a shame because the equipment and black Fri deal isn’t bad hense the only option for the one star is probably justified here. However the showers haven’t improved either only run for a few seconds each time too and are mostly cold luke warm at best.

I see they managed to get my last years 1 start negative feedback deleted too so bear this in mind that when reading all other feedback comments it’s likely this and other feedback would be deleted too.

Day 7 - I have literally just witnessed a male and female staff member come into the male toilets changing rooms to do a ‘walk around’ and saw the male member sign the sheet(whoever MH ?) and walk straight back out - leaving both toilet cubicles still caked in highly obvious feaces and urine pool states without any cleaning conducted whatsoever- I then watched them walk back out and have idle chit chat with other members on the treadmill.

This is completely unacceptable and not once in the first two week have these toilets been cleaned despite the hourly signatures on the wall record - appallingly bad leadership and management of this place. It’s a health and safety nightmare waiting to happen for all sorts of germs, viruses and deceases.

Good weights area.

Some machines are broken. The men's changing room could do with better cleaning.

Facilities are great and the staff are lovely, nothing is ever a problem for them!

Easy to access, fab facilities, great instructor and people

I love spinning classes in the Newcastle gyms with Flo, she is an absolutely amazing instructor and takes time woth everyone to get them set up and share tips.
She's really motivational and my fitness has improved loads since attending her classes.

Good range of equipment. Changing room could be larger, many lockers are used without padlocks so it becomes frustrating when trying to find one during busy hours.

Love the classes - flo and Dale are great instructors!

JD Gym Benton, the only class I go to now after years ( too many to put in here ) of classes, is soon with Flo .

No other workout gets as much out of me as Flo can , she pushes all of the time brilliant instructor and without Flo I really wouldn’t need a membership .

Reduced this review to one star as God knows why JD at Benton has let Flo go.
The only spin instructor that I can see who gets full classes and is the most motivational out of everyone has gone …. not much left for me at JD now .

A decent start back.

Changing rooms weren’t as clean as they could be and the showers weren’t particularly strong.

The plus side was Flo’s spinning class - tremendous!!

Great atmosphere. Everything you need there.

Good experience from walking through the doors to enquire about classes to joining up within 10 mins.
