Kelvin Okafor born 1st November 1985 in London, UK. Studied a Foundation course in Art & Design at City & Guilds Art School and a graduate from Middlesex University with a B.A. (Hon)s in Fine Art
United Kingdom
Very inspiring session! Kelvin talked not only about his success but also about his struggles and how he overcame them. The opportunity to ask him questions was also great. Kelvin demonstrated his drawing technique and gave us some good drawing tool tips!
I'm not a hyperrealism artist but I just had to check out one of Kelvin's courses after seeing his photo realistic drawings. It was interesting to see the journey he takes to achieve one of his pieces and I definitely learnt a lot of new techniques from his course. I highly recommend his courses to any artist out there, whether they focus on hyperrealism or not, there's a lot of insightful tricks he will teach!
I attended a student masterclass with Kelvin and absolutely loved it. Kelvin took time to answer loads of questions, explained materials and techniques in detail. He was really engaged, and patient with explaining details in depth.
I found Kelvin masterclass very inspirational! He spoke clearly and to a very relatable level making it easy to feel we were on the same level.
He answers all questions very kindly and efficiently, giving great advise.
He also showed us how he works, which in itself was amazing to watch, but it also gave great ideas on how to approach a project with newly learnt techniques.
Amazing to watch Kelvin create his work - completely mesmerising and beautiful. I picked up a few tricks. I'd love to hear more talking, maybe when he swaps one pencil for another and naming what he is using. I'd find that super helpful and interesting but it must be quite hard to do that and break with the flow.
Amazing course. I intend on doing them all! Very informative and professional
At the end of 2020, the year we all want to forget, I had lost everything, to be honest I was in a bad place.
Watching a favourite TV programme Portrait artist of the year I saw Kelvin’s work, I was blown away and googled him. I saw courses available.
As a child I could draw but I have not attempted art for 30 years, I signed up for the full course and materials.
Over the last month I have completed the 6 modules and now 2 of my own portraits, I thoroughly enjoyed the course, watching, hearing and taking myself along with Kelvin it gave me enough confidence to take on my own portrait, now 2 and I have used the course as support as reference.
I can’t say thank you enough to Kelvin it has been incredible for me, I am really enjoying my experience now with art, as complete amateur has given me confidence, but also came at a time where I was at one of the lowest points of my life, I feel it has helped me while I recover, so thank you, you have no idea how it helped
There is a great support with Dwight and I can’t wait to continue moving forward. Hopefully one day in the future it will help me achieve a goal to become an artist
Anyone needing inspiration, easy to understand, motivational course to help you into drawing or I would imagine any artist would thoroughly benefit, the simple but beautiful techniques are incredible
Thank you so much
The course was so expository! The best hyper-realistic drawing lessons I've ever learned are all here.
I felt the art of photorealism sinking into my mind. I never felt that way before, I felt enriched with something that I want to try.
Since then, I've always wanted to hold the soft paintbrush to try my new technique.
Many thanks to master Kelvin Okafor
I love you!
I’ve only just started the portrait series and have learned so much in the first hour of watching! It’s very helpful to see the tools and products used and how to use them. The use of grey charcoal for building layers is a game changer! I’m so excited to continue the modules and improve my skills.
Thank you so much for taking the time to create these amazing courses Kelvin! I’m excited to learn and grow as a new artist.
Its a best technique to learn from the master of portrait - Mr. Kelvin Okafor. After a module I'm now much more comfortable with graphite&charcoal. It's easy to understand throughout the session by session.
Thank you Mr. Kelvin for this module 🤗 love from india 🙏
This man helped me to never give up since i so her work i have been inspired too much also now day i know to make skin tones and highlights am stills keep view his work one day i will be like him
My Husband David bought the 6 module portrait course for me for Christmas , how lucky am I absolutely brilliant course!!! So easy & clear to follow. I have only sketched intermittently & never portraits - too scary but today I completed my first one & although it’s not perfect I love it! I can’t believe the detail that can be achieved through layering charcoal & highlighting with erasers. As this is a lifetime purchase I have many years to practice & this course will make an ideal reference tool. Highly recommend!!

Kelvin is an exceptional teacher and artist the skill I have learned so far have improved my art alot and I look forward to learning more from him
Having being self taught and only using selective pencils I never knew the scope of what art could really be until I started following Kelvins Instagram and Facebook, the way he portrays his subjects into a way that reflects the true beauty if the subject really tells a different story of kelvins art and how he captures the subject but changes the intial characteristics to match his passion for art is amazing
I brought two of his courses so far and its really helped me expand my way of understanding hyperealism and how much I've already developed drawing free hand without any methods such as grids.
he uses low amount of tools yet can create masterpieces really lets you understand how much he's experimented over the years and how he's come to this point.
I've always been wanting to move into hyperealism and have tried learning from other artist but others never gave you explanation on the level that kelvin does in his courses.
He recently started doing live drawings on both his instagran and facebook, this was a blessing for myself and others during lockedown and then he The Patreon account he created was really well thought out during this tough year and making it very affordable for those who have suffered financially allowing art enthusiasts and artists continue to enjoy beautiful work done and to pick up some new techniques
On the Patreon he released the 10 parts of Melvins eye study inn good time after being live on each one and the same with his Hair of peri, I tried following on both of those but used my some of my own touches
I will keep on learning from both his Patreon and courses and live drawings and comtinue to grow and develop

After having tried to break into hyperrealism with the help of youtube artist, I found it hard to follow along to the videos. People would use many tools at once and make you feel like you needed more stationary on top of what you had and there would be no structure in how they draw, no direct process to follow.
The only thing that was helping me was my experience as a portrait artist and I fell back on that a lot when I found myself confused. I also didn't find any real help when I was trying to learn how to apply graphite powder into my work. It was a struggle that lead me to destroy my work due to dissatisfaction with the outcome.
I came across Kelvin's Patreon account on facebook and decided that I would join that since I really admired his art and had been seeking to learn from him for a long time but could not afford his online course. The Patreon was surprisingly cheap, he specifically created it for those like me who could not afford to buy his online course which was very thoughtful of him.
On the Patreon he had already posted a 10 part eye tutorial and a Hair tutorial. I decided to follow along to the Eye tutorial and see for the first time how the man does all his amazing drawings.
From the very beginning it was vigorous and engaging which I really liked. He literally grabbed only 2 main pencils (Carbon, Conte Paris) and 3 pencils for details and highlights later (5H, White Ivory and White Chalk.) He explained what each one was for and showed how he would apply it. He used a grey assorted set for the skin and explained how to use it every step of the way.
I didn't have any of these tool but unlike the youtube videos of various artists I have seen, I never felt lost throughout the process and for the FIRST TIME EVER found an organized step by step way to follow that works thoroughly if you listen and apply what he teaches. I had to improvise and use graphite powder instead and I was able to apply it successfully for the first time in my life just by following the helpful steps.
The steps are simple and straight forward, they enabled me to follow along even though I wasn't even using the right materials. I was using graphite throughout and I literally managed to draw the best eye and skin texture drawing I have ever done in my life.
The way Kelvin created things like pores, blemishes and detail under the eye is just surprisingly simple.
I literally had to contain myself as I watched my drawing come to life and kept laughing throughout the drawing process at how simple the methods I have been struggling for so long to figure out were.
The man made me feel like I wasted money buying all the wrong tools. I would have saved a lot of money on buying stationary if I had gotten his help much earlier.
From this one experience I can say with certainty that Kelivn has truly mastered his craft because he can both create and teach at a high level while keeping the process simple and these are the qualities of a master.
I will keep on learning from his Patreon until I can afford to buy his course. I would love to see what beauty he creates there and learn how to draw free hand from scratch without any guide lines or grid method.

Everything has been great for me, I have been a true follower of Kelvin's Art work and with his academy I have the chance to learn his methods and techniques and and truly honor for this.Thank you Kelvin and Dwight for this amazing opportunity and for the installment program you guys have. This program makes it possible for more people to be able to afford this great academy.
im a fan of kelvin art for a very long time and as soon as he started this online courses ,i jumped aboard without any hesitation ,after the first course i couldnt afford to pay for the rest of the courses ,they still reach out to me on an installment payment ..i just want to say thank you kelvin and your manager Dwight....littleterry Germany
We have been taught that education is the most important thing to invest in but I have learned that art has no boundaries in life. This academy inspired me not only in arts but also in life. Kelvin is just the proof that the sky is not the end but only the beginning. He taught us not as a teacher but as a family. Thank you for this experience
I started my journey with Kelvin back in 2018 with a number of live sessions, I can say his techniques have been instrumental in my progression. I reached a certain level prior to that but need guidance and Kelvin was there to guide me.
The academy is incredible, for me it was sometimes hard to retain all the information in our private sessions, here you have it at a click of a button.
The Eye of Aisha module is detailed in explanation and even more so with the lips module. I'm really looking forward to what is next, they are broken down into sections which is really useful.
It's really important to invest in yourself and by investing in this academy you progression will benefit massively.
