Late delivery, unfresh food, no comms

Order went in 23rd Feb to be delivered 27th Feb, for a meal on 28th Feb, as per t.s and c.s on King Crab's website.
Message received from delivery company 18.30 27th Feb that there would be a 24-hour delay, exclusive of weekends - order would therefore be delivered Monday 2nd March, which was too late.
Order found on doorstep Sunday 1st March, 10am, lukewarm. The item was supposed to be frozen. It couldn't be refrozen or eaten. The item was unsuitable and not fitting the description - a contravention of our consumer rights. I had paid £48 for the seafood and £15 for delivery.
Refund therefore due - but no contact from King Crab to any of my (polite) emails and the number online doesn't ring.
Trading Standards, Citizens' Advice and bank contacted; I will obtain a refund through them instead.
Avoid this company. They either can't manage, or can't be bothered managing, the customer service side of the business; an increasing number of customers are highlighting issues with delivery, freshness of goods and comms. They are failing.

What an arrogant nonchalant uncaring…

What an arrogant nonchalant uncaring attitude to customer service and care kingcrab.co.uk take if there’s an issue.
I ordered King Crab legs and Halibut totaling £108.85 as a treat, which is more than I’ve spent on fish in one go in a long time!
My front door leads directly out onto the pavement, there is no porch, there is no infrastructure of any kind at the front of the house is directly onto the street and DHL in their wisdom left this parcel outside my front door unattended.
There was a clear notice in my window that undelivered parcel should be left at the corner shop which is five doors down.
Naturally the parcel disappeared which is no surprise given the place they had left it.
I reported this to kingcrab.co.uk and had to send another two reminders as this was a time sensitive issue before I received a reply five days later.
Here is the response:
Please see attached the image of your delivered order. Unfortunately, I don't think the driver see the message in your window and has left the parcel. The courier would have sent a text message with a 1 hour delivery slot once the order was loaded onto his vehicle and another once the goods were delivered.
Unfortunately, on this occasion there is nothing more that we can do to help you. You might want to try with DHL but I'm not sure if they will be able to help.

DHL are saying it’s the liability of the merchant. The merchant of course is saying try DHL and you just get sent around in circles with no solution to their incompetence. How you would leave a parcel directly outside a public walkway is beyond me especially when there is an alternative literally less than 20 seconds away about being the local corner shop.
The loss of over £100 worth of food has left a massive dent in my shopping budget for the month and they do not give a toss!
NEVER RISK YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY/FAMILY.
THEY ARE A DISGRACE!

AVOID!

Had been purchasing fish/seafood from King Crab for a while. My last order arrived with 2 bags of king prawns which were discoloured orange/brown. When defrosted they smelt off. When I complained the king prawns had at some point thawed out and refrozen. I was met with a very rude response from MD Nathan Godley who challenged me to contact trading standards!

I have 30 years catering experience and know when seafood has not been stored properly and no longer fit for consumption.

I will not be ordering from King Crab again.

Substandard quality fish

Had delivery 9/4/2025 over £100. Halibut and Haddock both brown in colour, looked very unappetising. Not sure if we'll even eat it. Very disappointed. Can't find an email address but looking at reviews here it would probably be a waste of time complaining. Won't use King Crab again. Definitely not recommended,

ordered skinless sole frozen, came so freezer burnt I would not feed it to the dog, King crab meat packed 2003 . full of water and tastes like rubber.

Dishonest and unremorseful

Just spent over £100 on King Crabs legs to find them full of rubbery inedible meat due to the crabs getting ready to moult. They knew the meat was no good because they sold it uncooked which I found unusual at the time but fully understood once I cooked them. They offered £40 discount on next purchase which I politely declined and asked for a refund. Haven't heard from them since. Don't waste your money.

No meat in KingCrab

No meat in KingCrab. No response to emails.
King Crab decided to respond to me via my
personal email. They said they were no longer going to bother to sort out issues. They also said I’d never left them a positive review, which is correct, but I also never complained when I received fish smelling of ammonia, 9 lobster so overcooked they were inedible and crab legs that had been cooked by themselves also void of meat. They also educated me on how they seafood should be cooked. Boiled they recommended but yet I steamed.
Not sure boiling would have produced anything worth eating.
Terrible customer service. Stay clear.

This is the second time I have ordered from king crab.co.uk,the delivery was good everything still frozen,but the king crab legs as in my previous order were rubbish no meat inside your paying alot for shell this was like my first order which was a few years ago but thought I would give it a second chance but never again the first time I sent an email to the company and got no response ,won't be using this company again.

Fast delivery

Fast delivery. But, not all frozen seafood is fresh. The meat of the lobsters and prawns are mushy. You get what you pay for.

Argentinian Wild Prawns

Just tried the Argentinian Wild Peeled And Deveined Prawns that I bought a while age and deforsted and have to say that they are the worst prawns that I have ever had. They have the texture and taste of farmed warm water prawn not the cold water wild prawn as advertized.

Quality, Value & Service..a Genuine Family Company

I have been an occasional personal customer (mainly Christmas) for 10 years and have recomended products particularly the large argentinian prawns and lobsters to venues I have been involved with. Always superb quality, always superb service and most importantly a quality business that that knows what it is doing and cares about its products.

Quality and value seafood

I live in South Warwickshire and ordered fish to be delivered. It's rare these days to find such excellent Customer Service. The Ladies listened to when the delivery was best for me and every came exactly as promised. Packaged well and still completely frozen. Even the Haddock fillets. Price was amazing! And the fish we've eaten so far is absolutely outstanding! We've agreed to never go back to terrible and overpriced supermarket fish, again. I was even told what hour to expect my seafood. Which was so handy! I shall be loyal customer from now on. Just got to get through this lot, over Christmas!

King Crab aka Premier seafoods, acknowledged my order 1st thing yesterday, 13th June, DHL were their chosen delivery agent on this occasion, 09:15 today the 14/6/24 frozen seafood order arrived on doorstep, no sign of thaw whatsoever, great products at good prices..... journey was Grimsby-Lincoln-Ipswich- then just south of Colchester, cannot fault them at all, first class company, will use/recommend them any time,..... & yes I was sceptical, DHL were spot on, delivery was well marked "Must be delivered today" true to their word!

Stinky filthy attitude.

I want to increase by a further star as I have now tasted all the products. They really are quite delicious. The negatives are still the Scampi and worst worst of all was that nasty rude woman on the phone, aside from that the product was very good especially the Smoke Salmon.

Increased to two stars as frozen plaice cooked is excellent.

Further update: quoted from their site "Delicious large wholetail pieces of breaded scampi. Oven bake, deep fry or air fry.
These are not perfect uniform pieces of scampi. They are the wonky veg of the seafood world. Some are welded together meaning you get two pieces instead of one on your fork. That's not a bad thing eh? Unwanted by fussy supermarkets but never hang around for long once we put them on sale."

Now that is FRAUD " large wholetail pieces of breaded Scampi "

Update: A great big 500g bag of "Scampi" I thought £6 , Wow that's value . In the air fryer. When I took a bite of these enormous pieces, they are around 90% breadcrumbs and 10% scampi. No supermarket on this planet would buy this. I would say this is tantamount to fraud. They should be called coated breadcrumbs with miniscule scampi. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. If this Trustpilot allowed photos I would show one sliced open, I promise you will be shocked.
The more I am getting to try this Companies products I am seriously thinking of getting in touch with trading standards. Tonight for dinner I am thawing frozen plaice fillets, we will see. I will repeat again the Scampi if you can find any is outrageous.

First of all the front staff/management…

First of all the front staff/management was very rude. The food and the price don’t match. The only thing good about our experience was the waiter which was why he was compensated for his excellent service. Don’t waste your time 👎🏻

Snow Crab Quickly replaced

Ref. My review - Poor Quality Snow Crab - I am pleased to say that King Crab replaced the Snow Crab very quickly with their usual very good quality product. Over several years this was the first time there had been any problem with their products. The replacement crab meant we had a very enjoyable Easter Dinner. My only comment would be that I feel the pre-packed 1Kg frozen packs previously supplied, are less likely to be damaged in transit than open packing. I realise this is dependent upon how they are supplied. Whilst their packaging is good King Crab can't help rough handling by couriers. We will certainly continue to use them.
