Deceptive practices: Covered deep scratches with a sticker, botched repairs, and terrible support.

I ordered a laptop from Laptops Direct advertised in "Excellent Condition" (described on their site as "like new" with almost zero cosmetic damage) for £500. What I actually received was an absolute joke.
Deliberate Concealment: The laptop arrived with a cheap silver vinyl skin stuck to the top lid. When I peeled it off, it revealed deep, heavy scratching. They literally tried to hide the cosmetic defects to pass off a Grade C unit as Excellent.
Botched Internal Repair: The lid has structural "pimple" bumps protruding outward from the aluminum casing. This happens when a technician uses the wrong length screws during a repair and forces them through. It is a structural hazard to the screen.
Worn Battery: A BIOS check reveals the battery already has 126 cycles and has degraded to 87% health. This is not "Like New."
Abysmal Customer Service: Since reporting this, their communication has been a nightmare. They drag out the process by sending exactly one text/WhatsApp message a day, completely ignoring my questions, and stringing me along while eating up my time.
I have rejected their insulting offer of a £38 partial refund and have demanded a full refund and an immediate courier collection. Do not buy from this company unless you want to get scammed with poorly repaired stock hidden under stickers.

I have only just received a refund into my bank for a Samsung chromebook bought in February on Ebay. 7 months and an absolute catalogue of broken promises and downright skulduggery . If I could give them no stars I would. I think they need investigating and ebay should stop them using their platform before they go the same way.DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!

I ordered a refurbished laptop. It had a fault with Wifi/bluetooth, I spent 5 hours investigating and making sure it wasn't a router issue. Sent back laptop to be told no fault found. I have video and photographic proof. Charged £20 for the return if i don't order a replacement. Decided to go for a replacement. after a week of text messages, to which I told them in the first what replacement I would like I was still waiting. I had paid the extra charge for the replacement laptop but still no sign. I contact them to be told to pay the extra. Then I phone, after 25 mins I get through, while she is checking she puts me on hold and cuts me off. I try again. This time I finally get the confirmation that the laptop will be sent out but it's £30 cheaper than the original so why was I charged an extra £20. I decided to cancel it all, they kept my £20. I await a refund.

There was me thinking this company was a 5 out of 5 star company ... silly me

Bought a monitor that was £150 cheaper than anywhere else to be told on the day of arrival it wasn't in stock haha then checked and realised I'm one of many people who they have done this too. Scary they get away with this. They even rang a day before trying to get me to setup a direct debit for insurance on the monitor known well true they didn't even have it in stock. Happy I didn't go through with it. People stay away from this company, very dodgy

Lying thieves

As others have said, don't use them.

Purchased a relatively high end laptop a few weeks ago and after a few days it started making a ridiculous amount of noise doing the most basic of office based tasks. A loud whooshing noise followed by the fan kicking in, every minute throughout the day, without fail. They requested a video which I sent them, and they said it was perfectly normal. I've owned numerous laptops before, none of which made that sort of noise. We currently have 4 cheaper laptops in use in our home, and guess what, they're a lot quieter too.
Cut a long story short they emailed me to say I could return it for a refund, given it was only a couple of weeks old, but told me I'd have to pay the courier costs, given they were adamant there was nothing wrong with it. I spent £40 on packing/postage and insurance to get it back there.
Today I got a text from them saying they'd received the laptop and I'd need to pay a 10% restocking fee if I still wanted a refund.
There was no mention of that prior to me sending it back. Absolute thieves who are clearly refusing to honour the most basic consumer rights.

Lies, Misleading Practices, and Consumer Rights Violation

I had an extremely frustrating experience with this company. On 6 January, I purchased an MSI Pulse 16 AI Gaming Laptop at a discounted price. Shortly after, I was informed the item was "out of stock." However, the same laptop remained listed on their website, first dismissed as a "system fault," and later updated as "available for delivery from 20 January."

When I confronted them with evidence, they admitted the laptop was available but demanded I pay more than the price I had already paid, calling the advertised price a "mistake." This is not only unethical but also a clear violation of consumer rights, as a contract was formed when they accepted my payment.

Their lies, refusal to honor their advertised price, and misleading claims about stock availability left me without the laptop I needed and caused me to miss other opportunities during the winter sales.

I strongly discourage anyone from shopping with all their online platforms. Their deceptive practices and disregard for consumer rights are unacceptable.

Laptops direct is literally a cheat

Laptops direct is literally a cheat. I placed order for iPhone 16 pro max in their website. Received confirmation of the order and money taken out of my account. Then they kept moving the delivery dates without letting me know. As delivery dates were rescheduled several times, I contacted them. Spoke to 2 members of staff, about 1.30 hrs on the phone. They said, the price has gone up, and they can’t sell the product to me with the same price, that I placed the order. They told me to either cancel the order and they would refund me or buy alternative products. They are number one Cheats. They won’t even look at your complaint. I even contacted the CE office, the staff there too is very unprofessional and have no intention of resolving the issue. So I am waiting for the response in writing and I will take it to the regulatory body. No other customer should have such dishonest behaviour from such known retailer. Rude, staff, Never buy from them.i ordered the same product from Very, same price, next day delivery. After placing the order, they phoned me and confirmed the delivery next day. Avoid laptops direct for your own good health.

False valuations

Sent a laptop in to sell, initial valuation was good but after 'inspection' offer came back as zero. Claiming missing panels when that wasn't the case at all. Useless company don't bother selling or buying with them

Never again will I shop with Laptops…

Never again will I shop with Laptops direct, I ordered a tablet week of black Friday, with guaranteed delivery for black Friday, This did not happen and was sent a message to confirm delivery would be the following week, Again this did not happen. I then called to find out when i would be receiving this tablet be told that the tablet had gone up in price and I would need to pay the difference! I was then given the option to get another tablet for similar price which was on offer. Again delivery date got changed multiple times after 3 weeks of being messed around I cancelled order, and got the original tablet we wanted from AO. I was going to mark this as 1 star, But 2 stars as my refund was issued in less then a day.

Extremely Disappointing Experience with LaptopDirect

recently purchased a new MacBook Pro M4 from LaptopDirect, which was listed as in stock with next-day delivery. However, after three weeks and three cancelled delivery attempts, I was informed that the item wouldn't be delivered until the new year. This has been a highly frustrating experience, and despite numerous calls to customer service and repeated promises from the company, I was ultimately forced to cancel my order.

I ended up purchasing the same MacBook Pro from John Lewis, and I was able to pick it up the same day.

Additionally, LaptopDirect processes payments before dispatching the goods, which means I now have to go through the hassle of getting my money refunded.

My advice: While the prices may seem attractive, it's not worth the headache of dealing with poor service and unreliable delivery. Purchase from a reputable company instead.

Solved issues professionally

I have bought refurbished PC and laptop from them which both have lasted eight years of daily use. Recently I bought two refurbished laptops for Windows eleven and they both stopped working was issued refund after reasonable deductions for use and return so was not left high and dry. Would do business with them again.

I wrote a previous review and received…

I wrote a previous review and received a response from Ivy telling me to contact them if I am not happy with the Monitor. I phoned the Company and spoke to David who said they will issue a postage label for me to return the monitor for testing, and if they found no fault I would have to pay the postage costs. I want this monitor replaced with a Viewsonic VA2715 and pay the difference but they are obviously not interested in bringing this matter to a satisfactory conclusion. I am not very impressed with this AOC monitor, it is wobbly on the stand and it kept not working, after a lot of hassle the manufacturers supplied me with a new lead. The sales no. 46574762 Laptops Direct make out they care by answering the reviews but the opposite it true. Owing to my eyesight I cannot be without the large monitor.

Horrendous

Horrendous. Sent my 2020 MacBook - which was in perfect condition - to them for a valuation, and was given a ridiculously low price so I asked for them to return the laptop to my home address. I was then waiting for two weeks to receive my returned laptop, and after no communication had to contact DPD directly to sort of the problem. I was then told LaptopsDirect would have to raise the issue. I requested for them to do so and they have quite obviously deliberately delayed reporting the issue to ensure they’re out of the months window DPD provides to raise a case. Now I have ‘lost’ my laptop and will of course not get any money back. Do not send your technology to this company.

Lying untrustworthy company

Don’t buy from this company or Appliance Direct or BuyDirect. I purchased AirPod Max headphones by phone. Online they were in stock which was confirmed by Kyle by phone. Kyle processed the order by sending an email link to arrange payment. Delivery was confirmed to be next day. Turns out, the headphones were never in stock. Untrustworthy company with atrocious argumentative customer service. Gayle was particularly unhelpful and interrupted. Liam, their manager apologised but would not offer compensation for trouble they had caused. LIES, LIES, LIES. Lesson: don’t buy from them and don’t trust their website for stock levels. Also, don’t trust their staff on the phone. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND ALSO BUYDIRECT AND APPLIANCE DIRECT!!!
