I hate the rope in centre on small pool at crook log, no need, I’ve been coming to the pool since it was over the road ( where the flats are ) I walk in the pool for my joints, but our side is too small especially when children in there, I can’t afford to be kicked

Love the gym. In easy reach of where I live. Everything I need is there. The only frustrating minor point from my point of view is that the rowers face into the sun in the morning so you can't see the screens- at times can't see how fast I'm going. It's ashame you can't shade the screen or
reposition the rowers. Apart from that, can't fault the gym.

Wrote on here before about downham but after the manager Kayleigh stenning emailed me offering a refund are this has been on going since last year she never replied to my email with my bank details for the refund and none of my emails since then in regards to how long will it take i have emailed multiple zero response and this has now been over 1 month now! Absolutely disgusting having to run a place down for lessons not given to my send child who had her 1:1 ripped away from her without warning because downham was taken over by your company who cares zero for inclusivity and our SEND kids all i want is my refund for my 14 lessons owed to me poor customer service unprofessional management

Can't fault eccles gym but the mens changing room is an absolute joke..communal showers,it's like something from the 60s with a no spitting hand written sign,definitely won't be using them..0/10

Have to give a big shout out to the instructor Rachel. Wow this woman is amazing. It's been a long time since I've been to any dance classes, but Rachel has me coming back for more. Just love her style she makes everyone feel comfortable. You leave that class feeling absolutely amazing, although very sweaty. Brilliant class thank you Rachel you're amazing

I have always visited this leisure centre and have always been welcomed and helped by the front line staff, this year however, I’ve approached the leisure centre after booking through the on line app to be refused because I’m from a different centre even though I’m able to book classes through the app so very disappointed, really not happy c, the manager didn t even want to look at how I could book on the app . No ill look into it and get back to you jusya no .

Absolutely terrible service at Downham Swim School. Rude swim instructor who didn’t come over to my daughter on her first lesson to introduce herself. We had no idea who her lesson was with until we asked another swim teacher her. An online portal that is impossible to access and 2 weeks still do not have access. They have put my daughter in the wrong swim level class and didn’t make a note of her additional needs. Call and go into leisure centre to resolve both issues, which is impossible as the swim manager is never available and she doesn’t return calls (called over 12 times and left messages). Tried to cancel swim contract after 1 lesson and that is proving impossible. Breach of consumer rights. Do not waste your time booking swim lessons for your children.

But since joining The aqua Zumba & aqua fit classes it’s been even better! The classes are so much fun with great music and lots of friendly members , the instructors who have taught the classes so far for me Janet & Adam are wonderful! The staff are very helpful are polite too

I have been a member for many years and have always been welcomed with a smile by staff every time and have always enjoyed my classes. If there are negatives I voice them and they are dealt with. Wouldn’t go anywhere else. Our aqua classes have a wonderful community feel almost like a family vibe.

I sent this on the 27th of November 2024, I have had no confirmation or reply. I spoke to the lady from Customer services who then re sent it and am still waiting .,.
Apparently people have received a email stated the price will go up on the 1st January 2025, I have not received any emails in relation to this , have stated this also ….
Dear madam
l am writing to express my concern and disappointment regarding the recent issues with swimming slot availability at Downham Leisure Centre. As a paying member, I value the amenities and the convenience your centre offers. However, I have recently encountered a issue where the scheduled swim slots are delayed because the life guard is late also you have removed the general swim at 9.30 and replace them with lane swim with different times and these have now started to have been removed.
And are disappearing more frequently without any warning via a message, or email, even the receptionist doesn’t know what is happening . When l have been using for the past seven years also the amount of people who no longer attend these sessions. I feel my swimming membership is costing me more than I can enjoy the swim. The booking system is also wrong , due to the fact of today it was booked up and only 8 people attended. Once again no lifeguard and was on over 5 minutes into the session before he showed luckily enough a life guard called Sara stepped in to allowed to attend the session.
While I understand the importance of accommodating various programs and age groups, this shift has impacted my access to the service I subscribed to, particularly the reserved swimming times. Given that I pay a membership fee specifically for adult swim access, I believe it is only fair that the center honours these reservations or provides an alternative that meets my needs.
The standard of cleaning has also gone down hill and for the past month we have notified the reception with these concerns, we was informed that there has been a deep clean. I feel this is untrue due to fact nothing has changed.
To resolve this issue, I kindly request the following:
A clear schedule that designates adult swim times and remains consistently available.
Advanced communication if there are changes to scheduled swim slots so that I can plan accordingly.
A potential adjustment or refund for the sessions I have missed due to these changes.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust that you will address these concerns promptly to improve the experience for all members. Please feel free to contact me at xxx. or to discuss this

Had to make a complaint twice to duty manager about way one of the swimming instructors talking to children. Had already two occasions when son came out after swimming lesson, with tears in his eyes, saying he don't want to come any more. Old instructor being quite rude when talking to children, and shouting.
On first complaint duty manager said they will deal with this, as this is not the first complaint from parents about this instructor.
But then other managers took over this case and just covering their team member, saying that all instructors have their own ways of training, and completely ignoring facts of unacceptable behaviour of their trainer with children.

Don't Drown in Red Tape: When Poor Comms and Admin Leave You Doing All the Work
Staff at this Leisure Centre seem more focused on procedures than resolving issues. The emphasis on navigating drop-down menus and red tape makes it hard to find practical solutions. Follow-up emails often go unanswered, and I hope the manager will get in touch, assuming they’ve seen my complaint given the communication breakdown.

Sara Rawlinson's customer service was excellent.
I would rate the leisure staff a 1 star if it's not for Sara.
After realising my teenage kid sign up an on going membership which wasn't used for a long time, we talked to staff at the leisure centre and was not much use with no empathy or understanding with the issue.
However Sara resolved the issue with a fair outcome for both parties.
Downham leisure centre avoid of going there my daughter little girl has been going there since the age on 1 plus she has sen needs she was enjoying her Saturday's with Andrew who is amazing and understand her needs poor Andrew only had 5 days to let his sen children to say no more swimming it is very disappointing for our sen children who thrives with swimming to have it taken away just like that the centre do not care about sen children if anybody has sen needs children avoid the leisure centre as they do not care about them also my daughter pay a lot of money for one to one and the place stinks of urine in the changing rooms also toilet stink the place is filthy we see it been something good to place is run down sometimes i tell the staff it stinks they did not care my daughter little one has been there 9 years look how we get treated we are taking it further as i said any special needs avoid you be disappointed

This is a complain regarding the swimming area. It’s really clean and it smells funny. I have tried to speak to a couple of the managers there and there’s also stuff that looks like worms that are coming out of the bathroom or the shower area I have taken photos of it I can send it to you. I tried speaking to your manager and he said that’s how is it there but I feel my kids are not saved there due to that worms issue for whatever is worm maggots. I wanted to go to truspilot and put it on there but I decided message you directly. I would like to cancel both boys swimming lessons from now please can you kindly get back to me please? Thank you.

Awful customer service. Don't even bother.
After joining up my wife made FOUR separate attempts to get a gym induction, each time met with staff not turning up, or being on holiday.
Tried and failed to get anyone to help set up a gym programme.
Couldn't even get a straight answer on how to cancel the membership.
Finally found a form online which only got a response after three days,which was essentially 'that's the branches problem not ours and we're still charging you another month for cancelling'
I'll probably cancel my membership as well just because they're so useless

Update - this has now been resolved with a refund. Added a star accordingly.
Swimming lessons for my children. The progress was slow, and to say it was disorganised would be an understatement. For a long time they were charging me twice for one of my children and I never got a refund for that. Eventually I gave up I think. And then when my girls stopped going, I must have tried to cancel the monthly payments a dozen times, both in person at the leisure centre and by email. Just saw today that the direct debit is still going out and rang the leisure centre to be given yet another different email address to write to.

Customer service much below expectation. Tried to cancel my membership last month, send 3 email requesting cancellation membership and DD. Didn't get any answer from CS, so send another email requesting cancellation this month, finally I get responce that they received request, but unfortunately they will charge me another £30 of Membership because they require 30 days notice. Customer service don't care that their website cancellation form don't work properly, very poor answer like talking to the robot. Will never use them again and will never will recommend this gym to anyone,
