Facilities generally good, but I had a very poor experience with this gym when it came to trying to cancel my gym membership. Their sharp practices are quite frankly appalling and somewhat suspect. I was utterly shocked at their poor approach and attitude towards customers. Best avoided by a large margin.

One star, if there is anything lower than that it's for the one in Erith. You will regret joining them. Lack of equipment, unhelpful staff. The " managers" have no idea what they are doing and the closing time is ridiculous. I don't think there is a point explaining everything in details, but it's not worth it at all.

My experience with Parkwood Leisure has been extremely disappointing. Their customer service is shockingly poor—they consistently ignore documents I’ve sent over, fabricate false claims about contract start dates without providing any proof, and demonstrate unprofessional behavior. It feels like they are attempting to extract money from a terminated contract unfairly. I would caution others to be wary of their practices and consider alternative options for leisure services.
Additionally, Equipment in the gym area is broken and not fixed for weeks.
Air conditioning isn’t working for over 2 months now.
Steam room never worked but said they will eventually repair it.
Jacuzzi is now broken as well.
When you enter the health suite it smells like pee. Even other people noticed this distinct smell.
Rowers need a replacement as you can’t change the resistance at all.

unfortunately are old Leisure Centre here in Barnstaple was knocked down as it was old and had at its best years, and replaced with this new one, I remember many years of family visits to the old Leisure Centre with diving boards and plenty of swimming room, unfortunately this new one has a much smaller pool and mainly designed for sports swimming, giving a ever growing town left with no family swimming facility for at least 8 miles away, such a shame we are so behind the times here for family entertainment...

Staff are helpful and friendly. The pool is a good temperature and well organised.
It would be good if there were more showers with cubicles.

Since I moved to Nailsea 10 years ago Scotch Horn Leisure Centre has changed my life for the better. I survived a stroke in 2016 and the team there has been unbelievable as regards my recovery and rehabilitation. All of the staff are fantastic and very professional. The facilities at the centre are good and regularly improved. I cannot praise the centre enough.

The gym and the staff are lovely. Swimming is a constant frustration! 8 lanes are frequently reduced to 6 lanes, claiming staff shortage, meaning all swimmers have to change lanes. A daily occurance, leaving swimmers frustrated and annoyed. Several showers are now out of action on poolside and in the changing area. The price to take children swimming has risen to £5:30…..a lot more than many leisure centres. There is no senior prices, surely this should be encouraged to make it more affordable for elderly folk. All that said, the staff are lovely, and always respectful. All in all good facilities with too many limitations.

Impossible to cancel membership via app or website. You need to call during office hours. Cancel the direct debit and be prepared for the non refundable £20 charge and if unpaid within 7days another charge of £20 will be added. Appealing customer service! Ripoff company !

We have booked a badminton court for one hour with membership & paid for an hour extension, since we are playing for more than 1 hour we have 8 people taking turns so when 4 are playing badminton 4 can have a rest to recover. When we walked pass the entrance there was a male staff restricting us saying only 4 people are allowed to go into the badminton court area, the other 4 will have to stay in cafeteria and wait. It is just nonsense of how inflexible this policy is, we ended up paying for an extra court in the 2nd hour.
During the game we noticed the first court there were 6 people at the court (we have a photo proof) 4 playing and 2 were sitting (1 adult + 1 child), however there were no staff restricting their entrance nor speaking to them or give them warning. Don’t want to bring up the line of discrimination but the different attitude from the staff made the entire experience extremely awful, which the group regretted obtaining membership with the leisure centre.
We are regular intermediate badminton players and we have been playing in a numerous of other leisure/sports centre, we tried to come to Irlam on a weekly basis but now we are planning to move to another location for our weekly badminton games unless this so-called policy got changed.

Cancelling a membership is a bit of a mare - at the outset they offer a flexible membership @ £45/m (with one month advance notice to terminate) or £39.50/m for 12 months (locked in for 12 months at a time). Joining is a breeze and can be sorted in minutes at the front desk and the membership is practically instant "here's your card . . ".
Now try terminating as I needed to following the need to undergo an operation that will take me out of any training for about 10 to 12 weeks.
Front desk can't deal with terminations - that's a head office function. Good luck getting through.
When I did speak to a member of staff I was offered a deal whereby I could suspend my membership for up to 6 months, and that would cost me £5/m.
Here's the kicker - to have that "deal" I'd get nothing other than I can then take up my place as a full member when needed. But, seeing as they are for ever fishing for new members, therefore no waiting list, that makes no sense at all.
After a bit of to and fro, my membership will end 30 April 2024 - having read another review where someone else was getting out, they complained that after their membership had ended, the firm running this stuff still took money via a Direct Debit - I told them that I was not going to run that risk and would, in advance of the end date, kill off my Direct Debit - get this - in doing that (I have now done that), I've been advised that it could mean their system might overwrite the termination, thus my membership wouldn't end. To which I replied "should your system throws a hissy fit and overrule the cancellation, then good luck getting any money out of me – that won’t happen"
It really ought to be easier.

Adwick leisure centre gym is getting worse for cleanliness in the gym changing room area
The toilets are filthy a strip of muck going all along the bottom of the walls from the tiles, the toilets never seem to get cleaned with a awful stench of urine, the showers are in a state of disrepair
They have a hairdryer which was sounding broken for 3 months now there is a not working sign on it along with a pair of straighteners with a not working sign on them both of which have been like that for just over a month
When I complain to downstairs they just say we will look into it which they don't seem to be doing anything about
