Unforgettable lessons learnt. On day 1 we were taught, and then shot Portrait photography techniques. After 4 intense days I felt comfortable to capture pictures I was personally proud of. It is a great experience for anyone who would like to be tutored, and step up their skills.

Holger has an incredible amount of experience and really helped me to define what path I want to take in my photography career.

I’ve done beginners + intermediate photography course and I am absolutely amazed of how fast I learnt the basics! A couple of times and for several years I’ve tried to figure out the manual settings at home on my own but I failed as it seemed all too difficult. It made me feel super demotivated, sad and assured that I would never be able to learn the manual mode.
But thanks to LIOP I managed to quickly understand how it works! Already on the 2nd day of lectures I could set the right exposure and explain what I was doing and why. That was mind-blowing! And we also got out to different curious parts of East London to practice, which means you can explore new subjects, objects and locations without feeling bored - really inspiring!
Apart from practical skills, I am thankful for the new knowledge on famous photographers and their works (a lot of artworks and techniques are discussed in lecture slides). The course structure was perfect too, especially that I was required to do practical tasks before the lunch break and between the lectures - the best option for me as I am usually bad with homework.
Also teachers are very polite and encouraging with their task reviews, making you think deeper and more critical but without feeling bitter. Their attitude towards students is super warm and delicate - all are admirable and professional photographers to learn from!
Thanks to Jenny and Holger again, I’ll be definitely returning to this school for Still Life and Fashion courses. xx

I recently did a 4 day course in Still life photography at London Institute of Photography. I was really impressed at the level of tuition and the quality of the work of the tutors who are people actually working commercially at the highest levels, which is not always something you can say for other tutors. Collectively we managed to achieve some great results with relatively inexpensive kit and this really exceeded what i expected.
I would love to attend another course in the future.

The PPC is a well-structured course with industry professionals carrying out various modules. Everyone from beginner to intermediate will have something to learn and apply to their own photography. I attended the course to learn studio lighting/equipment and I can confidently say that this was covered in extensive detail in more than one module. I particularly enjoyed the final projects at the end of every module, allowing me to explore my own personal style and apply the knowledge learnt.

Fantastic team of teachers, I did the full LIoP course over 9 months. It developed every aspect of my photography, from the nuts and bolts of exposure and composition to the deep aesthetics of growing your own 'look' as a photographer and building your portfolio and online presence. There's a brilliant balance between artistic and practical which keeps the content varied and demanding. The teachers were all professional photographers, specialists in their field with years of wisdom to distil and impart. Teaching materials were solid and the practical tasks were demanding and built up my skills rapidly.

I have done the PPC at LIoP in 2017-2018. I did not know a lot about photography when I started but the teachers guided me very well. Holger and the rest of the team are amazing teachers and human being that genuinely love to help and talk about anything in photography.
I have learnt a lot of technics there and I am now represented by an agency and shooting editorials and commercial jobs.
They give you all you need to become a professional photographers but of course you need to be passionate and perseverant.

Holger & his team are an amazing group of photographers and teachers. All have worked in the industry and are very supportive throughout the program. Even throughout the COVID-19 crisis, classes that could be moved online were offered to students. You graduate from the course with a great body of work, and the tools to keep working on your own.

As the PPC course is quite intensive, you get out of it what you put into it. The teachers are great, but you have to put in the work outside class.

That being said, I was able to secure a full-time job in a studio after the course and couldn't have done it without LIOP! Thank you so much for everything!

I’ve completed two courses with these guys now and they have been great. They are really knowledgeable, fun and professional and they go above and beyond to make sure you get the most out of your time with them. The courses are very hands on and you get plenty of chances to get stuck in. Great for novices and more advanced photographers alike.

I did my Professional Photography course at LIoP and can only recommend it. You will get a taste of everything and it makes you have a clearer picture which direction to go. Holger is a great mentor and the environment is very friendly.

I was a student in two courses at the London Institute of Photography. After completing the courses, I have the most positive experience and I can recommend everyone interested in the world of photography. Theoretical and practical teaching is interesting, proactive and full of challenges. The most important thing is that you learn about all the elements of photography. After that, your camera will always be in Manual mode. In LIoP you can forget the boredom while listening to the theoretical part of the training. Every detail and part of the lesson is perfectly planned. Lecturers are top photographers with whom you will not be at a distance - they treat you as a member of a family. In LIoP we are all one big family of photo lovers. That's why many thanks to Holger Pooten and Katerina! The final part of the course was in a professional photo studio. Every student had a photo set with a professional model, stylist, makeup artist and hairdresser. Since I spent most of my business life in the TV studio, I can say that the last part of the course on the photo set is extremely professionally designed. It is not an imitation of similar situations, it is a serious story that has a beginning and an end. I recommend all courses in LIoP and I know you will not make a mistake.

This course has totally exceeded all my expectations. Holger is really thorough in his explanations and his experience in the field transpires in his teachings. I recommend this course to anyone who would like to venture in the photography world. The course covered all the basics to allow one to use the camera manually.

I wanna express my full enthusiasm for this course and the way the teacher dealt with each topic.
Waiting for the course I wrote a page full of questions about the business, the rates and the market and he answered to all during the first 2 hours without even be asked.

The Complete Foundation Course was well-paced, interesting and inspiring. Jenny and Holger were unbelievably knowledgable, supportive and constructive and I walked away from the four days knowing my camera and it’s functions far better and able to use Manual Mode with confidence and far more control. The field exercises in Shoreditch and the city were challenging but fun and took me out of my comfort zone but of course that’s where valuable growth happens! For anyone starting out in photography or wanting to feel more in command of their camera and images, this course is perfect!

I m so grateful to LIOP. I've tried other schools in London before and they have left me clueless. LIOP teaches the art of photography in an approachable way while keeping it advanced relevant & elevated. The first day Holger asked if we understood and if we had any questions I immediately did and he was so patient and wanted to make sure I understood. That was the first teacher in a photography school that I came across that the teacher cares.
you can feel their passion vibrating and they translate it into their courses and into their welcoming, clean, and professional environment. You are being taught by professionals who are making money in Photography and they are sharing with you their secrets. Anybody who wants to further or pick up the Art of Photography can benefit from taking a class here. I took a professional Photography course because of my desire to work in the photography industry. I'm so glad I did. With the mentoring session, I was able to hon in on my personal style. As of January 2019, I've been based in Miami London, and DK all while I was trying to complete my Professional course. Holger and Misao were able to work with my schedule so I could complete all the modules. I'm so happy for Misao finding courses to fit my schedule. Because I was able to learn the art and science of photography in a way that a YouTube tutorial simply can't do. Holgar is so sincere, talented and he doesn't judge. He doesn't teach a selected few like so many photography courses do. He teaches the whole class. He has a great team of instructors who are there to assist you. No matter your situation Go give them a call just do it. You won't regret it. No one paid me I didn't receive a discount. I'm saying this on my own merit. I am happy I got to grow my creative Photography skillset with the London Institute of Photography.

It has been absolutely amazing doing the professional photography course at LIOP. It's hard to put it into words but I feel like my brain has been rewired and a whole new world has opened up to me! Holger, the course director, puts a lot of care and attention into providing a really good experience for all the students. I thoroughly recommend doing this course.

The Photography Careers course really helped me separate the business from the art to give directions on strategies to get to the next step. The course was really insightful in the different routes and opportunities available as a photographer. Would highly recommend

I started the Professional Photography Course at the LIoP without having formal training in photography but with around 4 years experience around a camera and a goal of becoming a professional working photographer. From the start I felt I had made the right decision in joining, with kind and knowledgable tutors, and the clear consistent pace of the course, I have felt my confidence build into a clear photographic direction.
The course at LIoP is a definite aid to anyone trying to improve their work and constant source of advice on how to navigate in the photographic world. I would very much highly recommend it.
