Ellen was great and so patient while we dithered and changed our minds multiple times! Her advice to stroke the dog with our sample fabric was genius and changed our view on what to choose (hairy labrador). Thank you for your help - the decision has finally been made!

We went into the store in St Albans as we are keen to upgrade our sofas for our new lounge. We were greeted by Ellen who was short of amazing. Her help, advice and supportiveness really helped us in our decision making. She knows the products well and understood our needs. We were made to feel really special and the experience was excellent!

We ordered a Barney dining table which looked nice enough in the showroom. When ours showed up, it had a poorly done 30cm long fill in the middle of the top of the table as well as multiple other smaller fills ~1cm. Yet the one in the showroom had no fills - totally different quality. Fair enough they accepted it immediately for replacement.
After waiting for a replacement, when seen side by side with the original table being collected on the same day it is a totally different colour, enough to confuse the delivery team. The top of the replacement table also has such colour variation between the main centre piece and the joining side pieces that it just looks odd. It's going back for a refund. Again, nothing like the item in the showroom even with natural variations in the wood.
I asked the delivery team if they have a lot of Barney tables going back, they told me yes they had done quite a few. Quality control has clearly been substandard.
We were also going to order dining chairs and so collected a set of fabrics from a showroom. When we went to order, the colours had disappeared from the website. We took a couple of weeks to decide on options but don't people typically do that? No notice in store or on the website that the colours were about to disappear. Eventually we found out from their customer support that the colours were discontinued and that new colours are coming in March (it was January at the time). They did try to mention a few alternatives which were unfortunately very different colours and fabric types.
So we travelled back to the store to pick up new samples and choose again but then the replacement table arrived. In the end we had second thoughts after that whole experience - save ourselves the time/effort and go with something else.
EDIT 4th March 2026: Second table collected 13th February and still not refunded. That’s two and a half weeks. Consumer Rights Act says two weeks is a reasonable time frame. Loaf support team say they are looking into it and asking the accounts team. Loaf continues to surprise in just how useless the support is. Surely a refund is standard practice? It should not need multiple follow ups from a customer, it should just happen. Loaf replied to this review to say they want to make things right / build trust, yet they still cannot do basic things correctly as a business.

Siri was very helpful and could answer all our questions

The approach from the staff from the moment you enter the store is relaxed and totally non-pushy and so it is easy to ask questions and try everything out without any pressure. I did order a chair and later changed my mind about the fabric. One phone call sorted this out and the order was changed with no fuss.

I did request samples online after seeing a piece of furniture I wanted, but I hadn't received anything, so I went to the St. Albans store. I didn't realise you had a sale on so a member of staff gave me all the information I needed and I went home with some samples to see what would match with my curtains. I returned the following day and placed the order. I had my dachshund with me both times, and the staff were super friendly to him. It was a lovely vibe going into the store.

I spoke with Fabiana virtually at the St Albans branch. Fabiana was very helpful and gave me a virtual tour and sent me a photo of the colour I was interested in laying on the Brioche sofa . I live North of Norwich so it is difficult finding time to get to St Albans in the time scale the sale was on. Fabiana also talked me through the cushions and the filling.

Knowledgeable staff and welcoming. Very clear instructions about Loaf protocols.
I would like to mention Rosina(St Albans, about to move to Chelmsford ), who dealt with me on two occasions and was excellent.
I have bought many items from Loaf in the past and found all aspects of the service good.

Very helpful staff and plenty of swatches to choose a fabric

Cannot praise Rosina (St Albans) too highly. Helpful, informed, professional and tolerant - we asked more inane questions than we should. Plus providing advice that was spot-on, covering subjects that we'd not thought about, but should have. Many, many thanks.
