Our overall experience with the rental company was positive, but unfortunately the return process left a disappointing final impression.

At check-in, despite it being late in the evening and there being a long queue behind us, the staff member was professional, patient, and took the time to explain everything clearly. We really appreciated his friendly attitude and excellent customer service. Fare price.

The vehicle itself met our expectations and we had no issues during the rental period.

Unfortunately, our experience at check-out was very different. The employee handling the return was visibly irritated and spoke to us in an unfriendly manner. We were told that we had approached from the wrong side and were sent away twice before the car was finally accepted. While this may have been a procedural issue, the way it was communicated felt unnecessarily aggressive and stressful.

It is a pity because the excellent service we received at pick-up was overshadowed by the poor attitude during the return process. One negative interaction should not define an entire company, but it certainly affects the overall customer experience.

We hope management will address this, as the company otherwise provides a good service and has staff members who clearly understand what customer care should look like.

I rented a car from Locauto at the airport in Sardinia, and everything went well. I arrived at the desk an hour earlier than scheduled, so I had to wait a bit—likely because the car wasn't ready yet, which is understandable.
​Other than that, both the pick-up and drop-off processes were smooth, and the car was in great condition. Would recommend!

We rented with locauto because of the good reviews, we had a wonderful experience and everything was easy with them

Pros:
- easy rental process
- good price
- people at hire desk/pickup were nice. No attempts to upsell etc
- dropped off at a different location with no issue, the process was quick to confirm the car was okay and there would be no damage charge etc.

Cons:
- car was a little dirty and very dusty
- car had no windscreen washer fluid which was quickly an issue due to the amount of insects
- the brakes on the car were grinding which wasn’t a pleasant experience for 10 days

I booked a Volkswagen Tiguan because its luggage compartment was large enough to fit a bicycle travel case and our luggage. However, upon collection, I was given a Skoda Karoq, which was significantly smaller and did not meet the specifications of the vehicle I had booked. As a result, we were unable to transport our bicycle case as planned.

Since no equivalent or larger vehicle was available without paying an additional upgrade fee, we were forced to rent a second car through Booking.com, resulting in an extra cost of €233.33. In addition, I was charged an extra €86.38 transfer fee for the Skoda Karoq, even though this was already included in my original booking.

Everything was very good and easy.

Very good experience with Locauto in Alghero! We booked via EasyTerra so not directly with Locauto. But everything went very smooth and the staff is very friendly. Pick-up was fast, no hassle and no pressure to take additional insurances (which we already had via EasyTerra). The car was similar to what we had booked, was clean en very new as well. Drop off was also very fast. The car was pretty dirty after two weeks but that was not an issue at all. They just check whether the tank is returned full, check if the interior is not too dirty and do a quick look around to see if there is any external damage and that was it. Highly recommended!

I'm super happy with their service, they are really great. One small thing - I arrieved about an hour earlier and they charged my 35 euros for that. They could have just agreed to give me the car earlier, but they didn't. Still, I don't hold it against them, it was my mistake to book the car for a later time. Other than that, all else was great!

After Avis gave us grief we decided to try Locauto. Will always use them from now on, cheap, great service, English speakers, can accomodate different drop off points. We rented a Skoda from Alghero to Cagliari. Loved it
