Not So Smart Check-in or Drop Off
- The "Smart Check-in" process wasn't smart at all. It was just like any other auto rental car company.
- Dropping off the auto at the Palermo airport was a huge hassle. We didn't pass any gas stations before arriving, and the check-in attendant told us there were no options to pay a refueling penalty. It took us 30+ minutes to find fuel, and a LocAuto technician at the gas station told us that we could pay a $50 Euro penalty if dropping off the auto with less than a full tank. So, essentially the LocAuto check-in attendant was not telling the truth.

The staff at the rental office was very helpful!
The car we rented for two days functioned without any problems. What impressed us was how helpful Sylvia and Inez were when we returned the car. When we had problems refilling the petrol before returning the car, both of them were extremely helpful in resolving the problems. We were able to refill the gas tank, which saved us significant time and money. Many thanks to the staff at the rental office!

Easy and fair
It was easy to rent and to return the car and process, documentation of demages was transparent communicated and documented. On both locations staff was very friendly.

Very good car hire experience
The check in and out processes were very straightforward. Staff at Syracuse and Catania airport were helpful and friendly. We took out our own insurance before travelling so didn't need any of their 'extra' insurances packages. I would definitely use Locauto again. We booked a Fiat Panda and got a Toyota Yaris, which was fine. Car was in excellent condition. Collected in Syracuse and returned to Catania Airport.

Polite, efficient, but expensive…
The staff in Syracuse were very helpful- they got a car organised quickly. However, they insisted that I had to pay for full comprehensive insurance and that there was no other option. This made the rental very expensive. Also, there was no fluid in the windscreen wipers which was very dangerous when I urgently needed to clear the windscreen. Otherwise the car was fine. The pick up and drop off was efficient.

While the staff were courteous enough you got the feeling they just wanted you gone.
The handover for the car was really just an exterior check, we found out not long after departing that the info-mate system on the very new car was faulty which caused a certain amount of stress.
