Amazing Service

My Loan Officer was Dale. He did an amazing job in making me feel comfortable throughout the loan process. I cannot state that the process was stress-free nor 'hiccup' free, but I CAN state that I felt confident and well informed through the process.

I look forward to doing business with Dale again.

Fantastic Service

I have done several loans with Lone Star over the years. They have always been upfront on required documents, fees, interest rates, and closing dates. Their communication was fantastic and their process easy. I hope I never buy another house, but if my wife makes me, I wouldn't use anybody else!!!!

Slow and poor communication

While I appreciate the help I did get, I frequently had trouble getting responses to emails or phone calls when I was told they would call. Our closing was delayed by a week as part of the poor communication. I had as much paperwork in before and offer was ever made and our closing time was already schedule a week later than the normal 30 day close. Our contact told us it was because he didn't get our contract right away, however considering our contract period was longer, we already had a majority of our paperwork in and reviewed, and we were a pretty easy loan (large down payment), it should have never taken so long. The process itself was pretty easy, however the communication and speed left a lot to be desired. For us this was a first mortgage loan experience and it was a very frustrating one. I hope our experience was just an anomaly. Thank you

My apologies for you not closing on time. Please understand that we started your loan 10 days into your contract and we only started then due to a follow-up from my office as neither the realtor nor you informed us that you were under an executed contract. Had we not reached out your closing may not have happened as quickly as it did.

I expressed concern that same day to both your and agent that this could be an issue but would do what we could to make up the lost time. Compound this delayed start with an appraisal that didn't meet value and a new sales price having to be agreed on the loan actually went quick. Initial disclosures went out on 6/28 and the initial closing disclosure went out on 7/25 with closing and funding on 7/28. This was 6 days past the original close date. It you look at the calendar this was only 28 days 9 of which were weekends and a holiday. Executing a mortgage in 19 business days under the new TRID 3 day waiting period is very fast.

You were an excellent borrower, great credit, large down payment and return requested items quickly which made the loan go as quick as it did. By your own admission this was your first experience and due to that I don't think you realize you had a fast and uneventful lending experience.

In retrospect, the one item I would do different, would have been to have had the contract extended at the beginning as we don't like to not meet clients expectations. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your new home purchase.

Lone Star Financing was very helpful and knowledgable!

My loan officer was wonderful and was able to get me financed when I don't think anyone else could have. The only problem was that the responses to my communications could have been a little quicker. Having said that, I would still recommend them to anyone looking for a mortgage loan or to refinance their current loan.

It could have been great.

Russell Stout was excellent and worked really hard to help us through the loan process. He was informative and was knowledgable about our situation. Kimberly Cress was vague, wouldn't answer questions and once was willing to let our loan fall through instead of asking a few simple questions and being willing to fight for us. We were very satisfied with Russell and disappointed in Kimberly.

Very happy

Our experience wasn't perfect, but Tami went out of her way to try and get us through it. She was quick to respond and worked very hard to fix any issues we faced along the way. We are very thankful to Lone Star Financing for making our dream of homeownership a reality!

All Went Well...

I'm self employed and refinancing my house was a pain. Luckily, they understood the situation and were able to verify and approve my loan quicker than my bank. Overall, happy with the experience and would recommend them.

Inconsistent service

Initially spoke with an agent who was extremely attentive, but after 1 week, his website no longer worked. When I called Lone Star, they said he was 'a great guy that no longer worked there'. After that, I was poorly serviced by multiple people. Would not ever use Lone Star again.

We apologize and certainly empathize with your frustration being transferred to a new loan officer and we do apologize for this inconvenience. Unfortunately the original loan officer leaving was out of our control and will use your feedback to address any issues with the loan officer that ultimately assisted you in helping to close your loan. Thank you for your feedback and allowing us to improve our processes to insure short falls in service, at any level, do not occur in the future.

An Excellent Experience

We suddenly found ourselves in the market to buy a home, but our unique financial situation looked like it might prevent us from obtaining a mortgage. Lone Star Financing was able to make it work, though. Tami walked us through every step, always promptly answering our questions (which were plentiful as first-time homebuyers). She communicated with us throughout the entire process and really put us at ease with our decision. We were able to do the entire bulk of paperwork (submitting documents and eSigning contracts) online which was extremely convenient. Tami expedited the process for us as much as she could and ultimately, it was as painless and stress-free as buying a house can be. We could not have been more pleased with the level of service. Thanks, Lone Star!

Absolutely fantastic!

My husband and I were first time home buyers. Charlie Bradham was so patient and knowledgable and quick on his feet. We had a heck of a time getting under contract, we got out bid 4 times, had one property fail inspection and another didn't appraise. In the mean time my husband and I both changed jobs, all the while Charlie was calm and organized and navigated our way through the whole process with seemingly effortless ease! Everyone we worked with, from our realtor to our title company etc had nothing but positive things to say about him as well. Should we ever develop enough amnesia to go through the San Antonio housing market again Charlie will be our first call!

Professional and exactly as advertised

The team at Lonestar was very professional, and is so experienced they make the process very painless and predictable. The first day they provided a rough estimate, which was exceptionally accurate compared to the final numbers. The paperwork process was easy, and after dealing with the big companies, I was pleasantly surprised by the level of customer service we received through Lonestar!

We will definately use them for our future financial needs, and appreciate how easy they made the process.

Very helpful and understanding

As a first time home buyer, Lone Star and their associates were very easy to work with. Thanks to Monica Rascon and her hard work, dedication and caring spirit my family and I now have a place to call our own.

Terrible

Inexperience lead to me having to pay $4k at closing for property taxes that I had already negotiated in my contract for seller to pay for. Avoid at all cost.

Update:
It's unfortunate I have to reply to the comment you left about my review. Your reply is 100% inaccurate. Here is exactly what happened in detail. I am a 100% disabled veteran, which awards me with being exempt from paying property taxes. I am fully aware that I am liable to pay for the current years taxes unless the seller pays for them when I purchase a home. I learned this in my first semester of law school...I negotiated in my contract that the seller pay for the current years taxes as well as my closing costs. I can show proof via email that I confirmed with your employee several times that I would not have to pay anything at closing and that my negotiated terms with the seller would be honored upon the day of closing. It seems pretty simple.
A. There are property taxes that will need to accounted for.
B. I covered that in my legally binding contract with the seller that the seller would pay for it.
C. On the day of closing the finance company refuses to create an escrow account for the sellers money to go into to cover the taxes.
D. I either agree to pay the taxes or do not get the house.

I was at closing for 6 hours and when I call your employee and she says "Sorry. I've never done one of these loans before" and hangs up on me. Then she doesn't answer my calls or texts. Hell, I've never spoken with her again. The President of the company calls me and expresses how his company doesn't operate that way and he will look into it. I am a numbers guy so I break it down to him. I have to account for over $4,000 in property taxes that I negotiated for someone else to pay. I purchase the house on July 31. That leaves me roughly 5 months to come up with an extra $4,000. Divide $4,000 by 5 months and that equates to an additional $800 per month out of my pocket plus my mortgage. That means I have to save an additional $800 a month for 5 months to cover the costs that I already had negotiated the seller pay for. I covered things on my end. Your company should have had the experience to notify me that whatever I negotiated with the seller was void. I didn't find out upon closing and all of my belongings were in a storage vehicle. It all boils down to this. I had to take a $4,000 hit and be put in a financial bind because your company didn't know how to account for what I already had negotiated for. If you could have let me know a week in advance that would have been fine and I could have had time to come up with a game plan. But, yes, this was inexperience from your company. Your employee admitted it. Your President of the company admitted it. Why try to save face online? Have your President of the company contact me personally, again, and if I am wrong in any way I will remove my review. But don't you dare get online and type statements like "Obviously you do not understand that there are going to be property taxes on your new home." I'm the one who negotiated the taxes be paid by the seller.

Update: 2 years after purchasing my home this company tries to get this bad review removed because I listed the agents name from their company that I was working with. So I've updated her name to "your employee." I've yet to receive any contact from this company and I've learned since buying this home that there were several ways that I could have finalized what was in my contract without being stuck with $4,000 in additional taxes. Sure, they got me approved for a loan. That's this company's job and how they make their money. Which they immediately sell the loan to another bank. That's how this business works. But what is horrible about their service is they didn't know how to resolve my issue and it cost me over $4,000. They hung up on me when I called them for help. You don't do business that way. Even someone that makes minimum wage often has more integrity than that.

We are truly sorry for your experience. Please keep in mind that you had difficulties obtaining financing at other lenders and we were able get you approved.

At closing, you did not bring any funds. The $4,000 you mentioned was for the property taxes. As you requested, your loan was not set up without an escrow account to pay your property taxes. Therefore you are responsible to pay the taxes due in 2015. Inexperience did not lead to you owing your property taxes and no lender could have prevented you from owing property taxes.

Obviously, you did not understand that there was going to be property taxes on your new home. I am sorry if we did not make this clear to you until late in the process. I apologized to you at the time and I still take responsibility for any communication breakdown.

I do want to add that we were very proud to have helped you. You conducted yourself as a true gentlemen even when you were not happy. You are an honorable man and we do apologize if we failed to meet your expectations while getting this difficult loan closed.
