Customers also frequently encountered difficulties contacting the company, with some finding it impossible to speak to a person or get their inquiries addressed. Interesting to see the other feedback…

Interesting to see the other feedback regarding Lowell. I have had my suspicions confirmed.
I received a letter claiming I owed Vodafone some money after closing my account with them in 2019. Yes you read that right. Lowell must think I was born yesterday. 2019 and Vodafone haven't made any attempt themselves to contact me regarding this false claim I owe them money. Come on? I have since been to my local Vodafone store and they admitted it was an error on their part claiming for a service I had cancelled. They were great about it and immediately began to correct the error. Even the lady I dealt with said she had had problems with Lowell and hated that Vodafone used them for debt investigations.

Buying debt should be illegal

Buying debt should be illegal.

Before you come in with the "we do our due dilligence" clearly you do not. You are practically a fraud company and i hope someone does a complete investigation and closes you down for good. We are not your "customers" we do not need nor ask for your service. Stop contacting people, close your business and maybe think about the ethics of this line of business before even considering working again

Hi Florin,

In most cases, a default will have already registered on a customer’s credit file before we buy their account. This stays on their credit file for six years. Once they pay their account in full, we let the credit reference agencies know so they can change the default to satisfied, with a zero balance.

As the data controller of our customers’ accounts, we have a legal duty to make sure that the information we report to the credit file is correct.

I’ve sent you a Trustpilot request so we can look into this for you.

Thanks,
Ana

Hopefully leaving this review will put me in touch with a customer support agent.

I’ve received voicemails/calls from yourselves. I’ve tried logging in to make payments and ensure a plan is setup, but it’s saying your site is down and has shown this everyday for the past week.

There is no email address on your site so I have put through a complaint form in the hope that an agent would email me.

I won’t be calling your office line as I work long hours, but would appreciate if someone could email me and let me know when your site is working so I can ensure a payment plan is setup. I also need to update my address on your records as I moved house 4 weeks ago and assume that you have been sending letters to my old address.

Thanks

Constant letters received for accounts that are not mine!!

Constant letters to my home regarding not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 – 02 accounts that I have never had. I have lived in Sheffield all my life and am male. These letters relate to a person who is female and lives in Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire where I have never been in my life. I have never had these accounts. I finally managed to alert 02 to this issue and the accounts were removed from my name only for them to reappear on my credit file, in default, now under Lowell Group!! Absolutely disgusting behaviour to send me these letters without doing the proper research to understand if the accounts are actually mine. 02 have a lot of questions to answer on this and so do Lowell who are threatening to come to my house to recover the debt. Bad, bad company in my opinion, you need to learn ethics and integrity instead of just hoping people will roll over and pay a debt that is not theirs for a quiet life.

con merchant O2

Lowell you obviously don't look at your own reviews and insist on payment that do not exist the cards I have from o2 are pay as you go I have already sent you photos of these cards but your arrogant behaviour is getting in the way I do not owe a termination fee if you don't like take me to court where i will ask for compensation from lowell when the court sees these cards you will be forced to drop you case against me and compensation will be awarded believe me I will also ask the court to look into the sales techniques used by O2 with the intention of compensation from them. check lowell's review and see the photos for yourselves.

today the 11 July spoke to Elisha EB35 who has resolved my problem. Thank you so much for your time and thank you for resolving the issue. It is appreciated.

Bad Customer Service

My account had been transferred go Lowell Financial in which they are suppose to honour the same agreement I had with the bank that the account came from but the agent at Lowell Financial was pushing me to make a payment today and wanted me to pay more.
When I called back to speak to complaints or to a manager the agent who answered the phone had a complete attitude problem refused to put me through to the complaints department and when I finally spoke to a manager she also had an attitude problem and refused to acknowledge anything wrong.

Lowell Finance - False Information

I was working with StepChange Charity over the last 6 years and God willing I have been able to clear my debt. However, Lowell have since contacted by phone by email and phone and I have found their approach very aggressive and not factual. For example, they sent me an email today to offer their debt management service and I don’t need it! They also referred to £33.99 owing to Three Mobile and I have never had an account with them. I found this very distressing as I have just paid off all my debt to the penny and for Lowell to imply I owe monies is inappropriate.

Lowell ignore evidence and hassle you

I keep getting emails, phone calls and text messages about a debt I owe regarding telecommunications. I remember contacting the telecommunications company I had two scams on my name O2, and Vodaphone I reported it to them with a police reference to prove this is a scam. I already had a contract phone at the time so, how can I have two contracts on my name? The telecommunications ignored my evidence and passed it to the debt collector Lowell. I again reported it to Lowell letting them know this was a scam and gave them all the details. I have advised Lowell back in 2017 and 2021. The agent at Lowell closed the case with all the given evidence. They reopened the case to show they contacted me in 2021 case and on the 06th may 2024 that they’ve spoken to me with an outstanding debt of £3000 I owe. This is showing on my credit report as missed payment. I do not owe them nothing and why do I need to pay something I never owed?
Lowell cannot be bothered to look at the evidence given they keep hassling me and giving me a hard time over this scam. I believe Lowell are scammers themselves and want to take money from people who are victims of a scam.

Hi Christopher,

Thanks for getting back in touch.

When a customer defaults on a debt, their credit file shows the details for six years from the date of the default.

And that’s why the default continues to show on a customer’s credit file, regardless of our goodwill gesture.

As a regulated financial company, we have a legal duty to report correct information about our customers’ credit files to the credit reference agencies. You can find more information about credit files in our credit file https://www.lowell.co.uk/help-and-support/faqs/credit-file/.

Lowell closed my accounts and are now…

Lowell closed my accounts and are now incorrectly reporting to credit agencies. I have now asked each credit agency to get this removed from my credit file as the accounts are now closed. If this isn’t still removed I will be going to complain to financial ombudsman as the data is being reported incorrectly. If I could get this company zero stars I would they have affected my mental health.

Edit 07/05/2024:

Hello Tans,

Thank you for getting back in touch.

The accounts have been closed as a gesture of goodwill based on your circumstances. The defaults associated with the accounts have been placed on your credit file by the original clients where they will remain for 6 years from the default date. We would not look to remove any defaults as we are obliged to provide an accurate and true record of your credit history.

I hope this gives you some clarity on the matter.

Kind regards,
Ana

Good morning Tans,

I am sorry to hear you haven't had a great experience.

Once a default has been registered on a customers credit file, it will remain there for up to six years. When customer takes steps to clear their debt, we'll ensure all payments are reflected on their credit file within 30-50days. Then once the account has been paid in full, we'll update the credit reference agencies and ensure the default also states it has been satisfied.

To support you with your concerns and investigate the matter I've sent you a direct message.

Kind regards,
Ana
