Well, I don't know where to start to praise all the staff at Woolwich today when I went to pickup my new MateX Moncler.

I was dealing initially with Andrew in September (I spoke to him on a phone today as well). He showed me bike, I had a test ride, was happy with all what I saw and experienced, paid deposit and was waiting when they will arrive in UK.

I think bikes arrived in UK last Monday, so I've arrange to come to collect my bike today, 7 days after.

I was dealing with Aytac and Maz at Woolwich today, and ... they were BOTH amazing. We had a good chat while they finalised fitting extra accessories I wanted on my ebike. They really did their best to please me and I had an excellent experience with them.

Regarding Moncler itself, when I arrived home, I had a test run and I am very pleased so far. Will do more testing in coming days, and will contact company with my results.

I already have Brompton bike last 12 years and recently converted it into electric. I will use Brompton in towns and short runs, BUT ... because of more and more potholes on the roads, I've decided to buy proper ebike and with FAT tyres that I can use also for off-road riding. MateX fit the bill, and I've decided to go for the latest model.

Anyway, I couldn't finish my review here to thank again Andrew, Maz and Aytac for another amazing pre-sales service and experience, as I can read reviews here they helped other customers.

Amazing service. The delivery is smooth with just the right amount of notice and progress updates. Aytaç from Matebike is great at his job, he really took time to explain everything and helped me with adjustments. He also owns Matebike so the conversation is actually useful with someone who actually uses the bike!!

Aytaç was amazing!

Delivery was super quick and I was connected beforehand to double-check if I was ok with some very minor imperfections which I thought was an amazing piece of customers service and quality control.

Aytaç was very helpful and friendly, he answered all of my questions and demonstrated very clearly how to use my bike.

Recently bought a Mate X from matebike.co.uk and initially set up myself which was fairly straight forward.

Had a couple of queries and concerns with the screen and brake judder so decided to take it to the Woolwich depot unannounced for some advice.

The after sales service I received was second to none; the whole team was so helpful from initial sale enquires with Andrew to Aytac and Maz at Woolwich who have bent over backwards to ensure customer satisfaction.
The display and brakes were changed over without even raising an eyebrow by the team!!

This is an amazing bike and product and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance the way they travel, be it for commuting or pleasure purposes.

Would like to thank Andrew, Maz and Aytac for the amazing pre-sales service and especially the after care I have received.

I bought my mate city bike and with in less then two weeks had managed to ride it in to a pond …. Unsurprisingly it would not turn on after that even after being left to dry out for a few days .
So I contacted matebike.uk and everyone I spoke to were so helpful .
I was almost certain that it was unfixable or would Cost a fortune to replace but the guys in the work shop some how managed to get it working again and for an extremely reasonable price .
I would highly recommend this company . The bikes themselves are great and the guys that run the uk distribution / mechanics in their wear house are all really lovely ,helpful and Clearly very knowledgable .

I have purchased two Mate X for my husband and son both are keen cyclists and own numerous bicycles but love the mare X for the fun of on and off road. I have just purchased the Mate City for my daughter in law which is in transit to her now.As previously mentioned by another reviewer Andrew is so helpful, very professional and extremely easy to deal with.

Amazing bike, I’ve got the mate X750in army green, it’s been a truly life-changing event for me. I know go everywhere with my daughter on bike rides around the Isle Of Wight, it’s a complete game changer, an amazing bike and so much fun, I am getting stopped all the time from people saying how cool it is and how amazing it looks. Just as a sidenote I had a pacemaker fitted a couple of months ago and I was not confident going out on my old bike so having the pedal assist with this bike has just been amazing, I can’t imagine anybody thinking of getting one of these and not buying it, go ahead do yourself a favour, they’re amazing.

You thinking about getting a bike from MateBike? Don't hesitate do it today. You will love the bike and add to that the amazing service you get! I got the Mate X 250w in the Dusty Army colour. From ordering to delivery I dealt with Andrew who was so helpful and kept me up to date with the progress of the order. Any issues he dealt with swiftly. The bike came pre built and ready to go. No problems at all. It came well packaged with no damage in perfect condition. Not only is it fun to ride but looks pretty cool too. Would highly recommend MateBike

Bought this bike a few months ago when the team came to Manchester for a roadshow and haven't looked back. Absolutely love it and so much fun to ride. The guys from Mate were really helpful and informative and clearly love their product. Nothing is too much trouble and they are readily available to answer any questions post purchase. I'm not a seasoned cyclist but this bike is easy to learn your way around, strong performance, comfortable to ride and great to look at. I spent a long time deciding whether I should buy this bike and I don't regret my deciding at all.

Amazing service and fantastic bike. Build is top quality and just looks and rides perfectly.
People stopping to ask us where did we the bikes as they look so different to your usual. We have folded up for camping without any issues. Andrew & the team at MATEBIKE.UK were so helpful with any questions even if I was repeating myself. Delivery was well within 5 days and by buying direct you get proper warranty unlike some sites offering much less. 100% would recommend. Kind Regard Anna

If your going to buy a Mate Bike then I would recommend buying from Matebike.uk. Recent shipping issues (Suez Canal / Brexit) have had an impact on supplies but the customer service team work hard to keep you informed and I feel assured that they’ll deliver as soon as possible. Early buyers will report that the actual bike isn’t without its problems but I’ve not encountered any myself so hopefully these have been resolved? Nevertheless you can take comfort in the fact that Matebike.uk will have your back! Buy with confidence.

Okay okay so why such a low review? Well let me tell you about my experience with Mate Bikes. In the course of less than 2 weeks I have had 2 bikes. The first one came out the box with no working electronics what is bad for a electric bike but Mate Bike customer service team where very quick to replace and helped out with some additional requests I asked for such as delivering the new bike to my place of work so I didn’t have to take a day of work again.

The second bike came and worked beautifully, pre assembled and checked but maybe not checked well enough as I think the spoke was over tightened meaning that within general use a spoke broke what could have caused a number of different problems such as the bike wheel no longer remaining straight.

Overall I personally didn’t have a good experience with Mate Bikes, the quality seemed off and the money seemed to be in marketing. Within the short space I had the bike I noticed multiple problems such as loud folding hinge, easy scratches, inefficient breaks, weak peddles, terrible gears for use when electric is off (and seemed like the bike was fighting back making it harder), poor handle grips, slow and expensive charging and just didn’t feel like a bike that should cost more than £1k.

So I’ve since sent back the bike and am now looking at Bromptons due to the excellent reputation but the only reason I am giving Mate Bike a 2 star is for the excellent customer service member ‘Andrew’ who went above and beyond and the delivery driver (so sorry I can’t remember your name!) who went up to my flat and personally collected the bike when I wasn’t in.

I do not recommend Mate Bike but if you do buy one the customer service team will look after you!

I saw the MATE guys in Manchester this afternoon and was allowed a test ride and immediately fell in love with it. I felt like I got a great price and all questions were answered with patience and knowledge which was brilliant. I can’t wait to enjoy the aftercare service, for now I’m delighted with my purchase and looking forward to another ride in the morning. Highly recommend these bikes and the guys behind them.
