4.5/5 - Fantastic bag and customer service

If I could leave 4.5 stars versus 5 I would. The Maverick Manhattan Double-zip bag has been everything I could wish for it to be. It is a stylish, sturdy, structured yet flexible, and very spacious. I get questions and compliments often. The black saffino leather is beautiful, great tactile feel to it, durable, has been very weather proof walking in the rain and snow, etc.

I use this bag for work and it fits all my essentials and beyond. That was my primary search criteria: spaciousness (balanced with compact size and style). I am able to fit a laptop, tablet, chargers and cords, external keyboard, mouse, glasses and cases, wallet, water bottle, pens, notepads, and so on. I travel for work often and it’s seamless with luggage, under plane seats, etc.

My only “dock” in score to 4.5 has been difficulty with the strap. The shoulder strap itself has been great, but I’ve encountered breakage at the clip a couple times now, particularly the washer/spacer keeping the clip connected to the bracket. A minor pain point in design/quality and not even directly related to the strap structure and build itself. That said, customer service has been phenomenal helping replace the shoulder strap for me promptly and with low effort. An additional factor for the 4.5 star vs 4 rating.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the bag and would recommend it over and over again.

Maverick & Co the true story

I finally received my replacement bag and can write this review!

I can say that anyone should absolutely stay away from this brand and their products.

1) Their quality is like something off of TEMU, that's why they do not provide warranty beyond one year.

2) Their zippers stop working (see the other reviews) very often, which means anyone on the metro can slide a hand in and steal your belongings.

3) The velcro strap inside the bag either stops working shortly after receival, or outright never works.

4) If you have issues with your product, they will refer to the terms of their warranty and by default not offer you anything

5) You will likely have to pay import tax if you buy it inside EU, because even though their website do not advertise it, the company is shipping from Hongkon

6) The website "judge me" which they show on top of their website, where they have 4.028 "reviews" do not hold any reviews of Maverick & Co. It's just a fake version of Trustpilot, there are no reviews. Try to go to the website and find Maverick & Co, if you don't believe me.

7) If you have issues after your 1-year warranty, they will offer you a discount instead of a replacement, if you accept the discount and receive the bag then you risk import tax on THE FULL AMOUNT, not the discounted.

8) If you "negotiate" a discount, they demand that you remove your negative review(s) as part of "the deal". So they are bribing you to remove your review (which is against Trustpilot guidelines).

9) The only way you can get a replacement product for free is if you create enough noise, on enough platforms; google reviews, instagram comments, trustpilot, etc.

10) If you succesfully get a replacement either before the one-year warranty or after; the warranty is not reset for your replacement - this is because their quality is so terrible that they know you will likely need a replacement again within the next year. (if they trusted their own quality, why not reset the warranty when products are replaced?).

So to conclude:
The product quality is terrible
The warranty is less than the two year EU requirement
The customer service is terrible
The price is too high for a TEMU plastic bag

I would give it 0 stars if that was possible. I've received my replacement now, and I will attempt to sell it (in the box and as new) on a vintage platform to try and recover my money.

-1/10 would not buy again.

While our warranty policy is clearly stated and follows a fixed timeframe for all customers, we made multiple exceptions in your case to ensure you were supported.

Do Not Try and Return An Item!!

I ordered two bags and a laptop sleeve from Maverick & Co for the first time. Their products looked good online and it seemed to suit what I needed. The sleeve for a 14" laptop did not fit. I at first tried a link to return the item and it was broken. So I emailed customer service and they sent me a different link. I provided them my request for a refund and they wanted to charge me $15 to return the sleeve. Why should I pay $15 when the product description did not match what I received. After questioning this issue they asked for a photo which I then provided. Then they asked for a video. So much haggling is not worth it for me. When I shop with other online retailers they are customer friendly and don't give you the run around. This is my first and last time shopping with Maverick & Co.

We also requested a short video only to complete our internal investigation, which is a normal part of our process when an item may potentially have a defect. This small cooperation greatly helps us identify the root cause and ensure quality across all products.

I ordered a FC Barcelona leather…

I ordered a FC Barcelona leather briefcase around 14 months ago. I carry a surface pro notebook and a notepad plus a few small items (pen, air pods etc) in the case. It still looks brand new 14 months later apart from the handles which started to split and break. I contacted Maverick and Co, as a premium brand and a bag it almost as new condition I assumed I could expect a replacement despite being our of warranty by a couple of months. This was not offered, I did receive an offer of 50% of a new bag. I wasn't really happy but decided to proceed and order a replacement bag, despite my reservations around both the fairness and the quality of my original bag. I was then hit with shipping charge of $70 on top ( I paid shipping on the original order with no issue). Enough is enough. To be clear the bag was NEVER misused or overloaded as the pictures show. I am now a very disgruntled and disappointed customer.

Please note that shipping fees are charged directly by couriers. As a Hong Kong–based brand working with international warehouses, costs may vary depending on courier location and parcel weight. We do our best to cover most of these fees so customers only pay a small portion.
