Thanks MDT

MDT provided the designs and building regs drawings for all of the alterations on our property. This included garage conversion, single storey extension and loft conversion.

They were patient with us as we made final decisions on the various options and gave us lots of great ideas to maximise the space whilst looking good from the outside too.

I would have no hesitation recommending MDT.

Excellent service from MDT Design

Having purchased a bungalow to renovate we used the services of MDT Design.

Matthew and his team provided us with drawings that created open plan living and a loft conversion. They dealt with submitting these plans to the local authority and building regulation drawings.

From start to finish the service provided was superb. Matthew and his team were very professional and the attention to detail shown in the design process from them has now created a lovely family home.

I would highly recommend the services of MDT Design for those in search of architectural services.

THANK YOU

I asked MDT to put together the drawing for a rear extension to our home.
Matt & his team took the time to listen to what we wanted & also came up with a few ideas that I had never considered. not only did I receive great service from this company, the in depth details on the plans was outstanding. Planning permission with the local authority was also taken care of by MDT. Unfortunately I must add just after I recived MDT's
invoice I sustained a serious neck injury of witch I am slowly recovering. I notified MDT of the changes to my financial & physical position long term. Once again MDT's response was amazing ( no problem get well soon) Nothing else to say apart from thank you so much for everything MTD

Kind Regards
Steve Jewell

Unfortunately we cannot recommend MDT …

Unfortunately we cannot recommend MDT as the service was not satisfactory.
We recommend the following:
1. Only use someone who has been personally recommended to you or you have seen their work in person. Request to see previous projects with photos from start to finish; if you are in any doubt ask to make a site visit to previously satisfied customers.
2. Request a price list and written quotation before agreeing for any drawings or sketches. Most Architects’ now offer visual mock up images as part of the quote free of charge.
3. If you are not satisfied with the service provided then do not be intimidated to pay.
4. Keep a record of all communication and keep to email wherever possible; this will give you a timeline that could prove invaluable.
5. Use a personally recommended registered Architect, at least you then have the backing of RIBA.
We have settled out of court for 1/6 of what was demanded. Remember you are the customer and you do not have to pay for services that have not been provided, or where there is no evidence of services being carried out to support the bill that you receive.

Stunning house design, professional team, excellent after service

We used MDT Design to submit architectural and building regs drawings for a new build. They designed us the most stunning Georgian house and we have been overly pleased with the service they provided us. Their design was amazing and their support during the building process (post planning permission being granted) has been amazing - they have been happy to answer any questions we have had about the building regulations applicable to us. A huge thank you to Matt and his team!!

We have used Matt Tate of MDT design on …

We have used Matt Tate of MDT design on two separate occasions now to design extensions of 2 different houses. We found him professional in business and very accommodating, His designs are individual and were designed to meet our needs as a family and designed within our budget. We would highly recommend him and his services and his whole team in the office. He deals professionally with the local authorities and is highly respected by them as a company. His pricing is very competitive and we have found in the past you get what you pay for. 5* for him and his team.

We used MDT Design for our extension

We used MDT Design for our extension. We had an idea of what we wanted but no clear vision. MDT lead us through the whole design process and we came up with a fabulous extension. They dealt with the planning permission, building regs, and recommended builders too. Our extension is now up and we are over the moon with it. We would definitely recommend Matt and his team.

Avoid like the plague!

Matt Tate of MDT has stitched me up and at least 2 others that have contacted me since. He has a hair trigger and seems to get off on taking people to court without warning which it has emerged has happened on multiple occasions. In summary he quoted me £300 for drawings for my extension spent 15 mins at my property and whacked me with a bill for £1200. When I refused to pay that much he took me to court without so much as a warning. He then blatantly lied to the judge in court that we agreed £1200 and the judge believed him. I appealed because I couldn't beleive I lost and took to court with me one of the other wronged parties and the appeal judge told me that although he sympathised with me, there wasn't anything wrong with the initial verdict so I couldn't appeal. For the record I would never have agreed to pay him £1200 as I already had a price quoted elsewhere for £500. He says that his price was a reduced price! Make your own mind up. The drawings he has provided are also unusable because he supplied design drawings not building drawings and today I have reluctantly had to pay him because he has appointed bailiffs to seize goods from my property. He has proved to be the most unpleasant individual I have ever come across and I haven't found anyone yet who has a good word to say about him. By the way to say I built my extension to your design is laughable. I actually paid another company to do the drawings in the end. A good, honest, professional company WHO I PAID IMMEDIATELY because their work was good and they actually provided a quote which I agreed to. But as was the problem in the first place, your drawings weren't actually very good or innovative. Your offering looked more like a shed than a kitchen extension. Also I'd be quite wary of new reviews all posted within a day of one another

The review by Mr Murphy is unfair and has malicious intentions.

I was contacted by Mr Murphy in May 2015 as he wanted to extend a property he had recently acquired which we had worked with the previous owners to extend. Mr Murphy required considerable additional extensions and alterations. I offer a free of charge initial meeting with all potential clients and at such meeting with Mr Murphy at his property we discussed his requirements, different options, timescales and my professional fees for providing design services. The fees were already reduced in recognition of our previous knowledge and survey details for the property.

Following our meeting Mr Murphy verbally instructed me and followed this up with an emailed brief of his requirements. Based on his instructions and brief we proceeded to draw up and design his extensions. These were provided to Mr Murphy in July. Following our provision of plans we usually re-visit our clients to discuss revisions and alterations. Between August and November we heard nothing from Mr Murphy. We tried to make contact many times but no calls or emails were returned. Non-contact was assumed to mean that our services were no longer required and therefore an invoice was issued for services provided to date. Mr Murphy was not happy with receiving an abortive invoice and argued that the plans did not meet his requirements (although they did meet the brief he provided us with). We explained that designing is a fluid process that often requires several revisions (included in our service package) and despite the time elapsed we were happy to visit him and discuss changes however Mr Murphy did not at any point take up this service. A further period from November to March elapsed with no contact from Mr Murphy during which my invoice remained outstanding and thus being a small business with overheads and a family to support felt I had been left with no option but to issue court proceedings to cover my costs.

On issuing of court proceedings an irate Mr Murphy did contact me and did try to make payment arrangements but for a fee considerably below our invoice amount (which reflected work undertaken at his instruction). I am a small business and do not work for free and felt I was left with no option but to continue with court proceedings.

Understandably Mr Murphy is not happy with this but the law is impartial and can make a balanced and informed judgment. Based on the timeline and supportive evidence I provided the judge did find in my favour and required Mr Murphy to pay me fees and court costs. And still he refused to pay even after orders from the courts. So I called in the high Sheriffs.

Mr Murphy not only appealed the decision once after the initial hearing he appealed verbally then in writing and then in person at court and still LOST all three times and was ORDERED to pay me but again still failed to comply with court orders .... We have all seen the TV programme "DONT PAY WE'LL TAKE IT AWAY"

I am a small business and successfully work with hundreds of clients a year who in the main are very pleased with our services. You cannot of course please everyone despite our aspirations. We deal with Planning Authorities who don't always give clients what they want.

It should be noted that despite Mr Murphy refusing to pay my abortive costs, just before the court proceedings I noticed that he had in fact already built part of the very extension I designed that he was refusing to pay my fees for!!!!

In answer to Martin Murphy's edited review dated 12-06-2017 above i can show anyone his statement in court as he was unclear himself what he had agreed to pay me in front of the judge he came up with three figures!! the quote of £500 was made up the day before the court hearing..... we can go on if you like Martin ...... Court papers are available for all to see...

Look forward to it Mr Murphy ...
