How a company reacts when things go wrong is often more important than when everything is fine. On Christmas Day I was unable to establish a connection to my nearly new Meater Pro probe to be able to... See more

Great idea, horrible product.
This in theory would be awesome, however it can not keep a connection when the probe is in my smoker or oven, making the entire thing useless.
It uses so many batteries and it's overly complicated, you can't easily just set it up to tell you the temp, they want to set up cooks and save it forever, it's a bit ridiculous.
I've had this block for a while and really wanted it to work, but after multiple tries for different uses, these aren't worth the crappy bamboo the block is made from.
I can't speak to support, as I never reached out to them, they have videos and all, so as far as I can tell it is working as (poorly) designed.
I was at first wary of purchasing the Meater Pro, as it’s not cheap. I now know why - it’s quite excellent. I bought it for long slow cooks on my Kamado (frankly, I don’t know how anybody does these cooks without a Meater). It’s excellent for that, but I now use it for just about all cooking (currently there’s a leg-of-lamb in the kitchen oven with a Meater in it). Don’t hesitate getting one - it’s one of the best cooking devices I’ve ever bought.
When it connects it works fine but its connectivity is awful and very irritating when you are trying to time a roast and it just won’t connect - I usually give up- today was its final chance - they really need to sort this out
This wireless thermometer is pure trash. You can't use it in an oven, you can't use it in a closed grill, you can't be more than 6 feet away. I couldn't even grill a hotdogs with the lid closed. I would send it back but it was a gift and past 30 days. 149.00 down the drain. Stay with a wired system.
meater support is horrible , waits are tremendously long
my xmas meater will not pair tryed to contact support recording say wait time is 20 minutes 60 minutes later finally hung up , tryed the chat so thing happen in the chat
So sad !!
We have bought 2 of these probes. The first one lost connection as soon as the probe was more than 1 meter away after 10 minutes. It got worse so we went back to using the old manual meat thermometer. A year later, we bought another one . It also was inconsistent in remaining connected. After 3 years, we are back to the old style manual thermometer.
It’s a fantastic concept. But I won’t buy one unless there is a significant change in reliability.
I have had problem with ambient temp that is clearly faulty as the second probe shows a more correct value. The same probe have connectivity problems. I have been in touch with the support but they only troubleshoot on a generic level and misstrust you completely. Bad service for such potential.
Like others it fails to connect no matter how close the phone is to the probe. The customer service agent I talked to argued with me about my experience. Waste of money.
I’ve tried this thing a number of times and spent hours reading troubleshooting guides, uninstalling and reinstalling, and it never stays connected. Even when my phone is sitting next to the grill or stove just 18 inches away, it doesn’t work. Total gimmick and waste of money. I’ll go back to my 30-year old, 89 cent meat thermometer.
Connection problems from day one. It connects about 5% of the times I've tried and then disconnects almost immediately. The app has made it even worse, now it never connects. Have spent several hours on their "support line" which has been absolutely no help.
Works very bad. App people don't know what they're doing. Had several issues with my Meater+. The device itself is genius. When you have the bad software working with the device it's good. But the slightest issues with updates or pairing and you're practically without a device. And then.. suddenly there's another update and it works.
Give up on the app people guys!
Today, my Meater is not working .. again..
This is the biggest waste of money out there. My $18.00 dollar WalMart probe works better than this piece of garbage EVER will. It WILL NOT stay connected. It’s pure garbage. Every time I try to use I get infuriated that I spent my hard earned money on it. Don’t waste your money on this crap.
MEATER Pro 2 plus
It’s not great
Estimated cook fluxes frequently
Connection range very short (40ft max)
Overall not reliable
Doing an overnight brisket right now. Probe and base no more than 50ft from my room and no connection. Not great when it’s 1:40am and you’re trying to sleep care free.
Cooking on a Traeger and it’s WiFi connection to my phone is no issue
If I could give Zero stars I would! i wanted to love the Meater Block but it has been nothing but a disappointment from the start. Now less than a year in and it will not even power on. I have been on hold with Support for 52 minutes with no answer and the chat states a 20 minute wait. What a waste of over $200! I would run not walk away from this probe!
I will start with I will admit error on my part but Meater possibly saved my house and definitely saved my cook. I had too much pork on my Masterbuilt Gravity smoker so air flow was not ideal. I thought things were going well so I went back to bed. An hour later I was awakened to a flare up alert from my Meater Pro Duo. I jumped up and found a good size flame shooting up and burning part of the pork. Once I got fire out I was able to drop temp down and finish in the oven. In hind sight I realized that my grill was a little too close to my gas cans for the mower. Thank goodness for Meater App alerting me and saving the day. I would recommend using this product. Works great. Looked back at graph and it read 510 degrees at one time! Thank you, Meater.
This will get buried but does not work. Changed battery and laid my phone directly on top of the device. Still could not connect. Worked one time but if i moved my phone anywhere but the shelf connected to the grill, then connection was lost. Technology is not there.
I just recently purchased the Meater Pro Duo. I can cook just about anything....except for pork, doesn't matter what cut, it always seems to be a disaster. So of course for this Mother's Day my MIL requested a pork tenderloin with a cherry sauce. To make sure this cook was successful I invested in a Meater Pro Duo. Excellent piece of equipment, the probe setup is easy, and clear instructions on how to use them. These probes and the accompanying app even takes into account hold over cooking and rest time! The food turned out amazing and now Im confident in cooking pork. Great work you guys!!
Biggest piece of junk gimmick I have ever purchased. The idea is amazing. The execution is total garbage. When the thing actually works, it is awesome! Unfortunately, getting it to work is almost impossible. The first 5 or so cooks.went perfectly. Then, the thing became junk. It never wants to connect. It constantly tells me the battery is low after I just put a new battery in. If it actually connects, it works great. But, I'm sick of constantly dealing with connection issues with a full battery and everything sitting right next to each other. I will never have another meater product in my house ever again.
Great packaging, style and intended functions but the Bluetooth connectivity, range and reliability is absolutely horrible and has been out of the box - even when I’m standing 10’ from the smoker. If it stayed connected and was able to be used from inside a building for example, it would be a 5 star product but as is, it’s horrible. Super disappointed as it was not cheap - would not buy again without some sort of guarantee
