Over all I am happy with the quality of the products I receive from MicroMark. My only complaint is that they could communicate better with their customers when an item is on back-order. They could also work to get their customers a better idea as to when the back-ordered items will ship. Granted, this is sometimes difficult, but it would go a long way to improve them to a 5 star rating in my eyes.

What I appreciate about MicroMark is they handle only great merchandise. Yes, you can find cheaper , but 99% of the time you get a lower quality tool. I am president of the Edgerton Model Railroad Club in Rochester, NY. We maintain 4 very large O scale layouts built in 1950. They need attention, and they get a lot of use. Lower priced tools and other items just do not last long. Hence I like a source of high quality tool and other model train items that will stand up to heavy use. Their shipping is also fast.

The soldering device is exactly as described. Well priced even if the postage to Australia was a bit steep. Minor problem as my email request for advice on a suitable transformer remains unanswered.

The service was good, as was the products I almost stopped giving anyone five stars because the next time I deal with them , they have a way of giving bad service, etc. Also I'm an old man just trying to do the model railroad thing on a restricted budget ond cost is a factor. I do look for your specials. Thank you for you great service so far.

I had ordered the " Plastic Modeler's Essential Tool Set Super Value Package" a few weeks ago. The catalog description and photo shows two bottles of Plastic Welder for a total of 4oz. I received only one bottle. I called customer service but could not get the person to understand that I was missing a second bottle. I gave up but upon receiving the latest catalog, It was listed again! Please correct the catalog or give more training to the customer service folks.Thank you.

Why five stars from me? A nickle-dime customer? Somebody who spends ONLY what he can afford for hobbies from a fixed income?

Multiple reasons.

Their catalogue is enormous. And it grows. Every edition has a few more new products, and rarely do the old ones disappear.

Their tools are excellent --I've bought quite a number of those, and they soldier on beautifully. My new lights for my Optivisor have become indispensable. I do better work because of MicroMark's tools. And enjoy MUCH less frustration. My 82-year-old eyes and hands can still do decent work! They just needed a little help.

Their wishbook is also an idea-starter. I look at the things they're offering and I can see how I could use them, like the clear plastic compound that can be used for encapsulation: my diver and mermaid figures would look lovely inside a clear paperweight with a few props to say "He's on the bottom." One day...

My only caveat is the cost of shipping --MicroMark's prices are always MUCH less than I can find elsewhere, but because I can only buy a little at a time, the shipping is sometimes nearly as much as the things I'm getting, so that advantage evaporates. My advice to others is to buy in big bunches --the shipping will be relatively less-- or take advantage of their offers of free shipping for large orders. And I will envy you that.

The shipments also take a little time, so you've got a chance for the anticipation to build, and to perfect your patience. That's good: you'll need it for your projects.
