I had a fantastic experience with Milena

I had a fantastic experience with Modern Nursery. We recently purchased a crib, and unfortunately, one of the parts arrived damaged. I reached out to their customer service team, and Milena, our customer care representative, truly helped us. She was incredibly responsive, kind, and efficient, making what could have been a frustrating situation easy to maneuver. Thanks to Modern Nursery and Milena, we received a replacement part from the manufacturer without issue. It's rare to find a company that truly stands behind its products and provides seamless support. Highly recommend Modern Nursery—not just for their beautiful products, but for their outstanding customer care!

A Little Frustrated -

Gave all my contact info to receive the 10% discount advertised only to find out at the checkout point that it didn't apply to the 'brand' crib I was ordering.
This was disappointing and frustrating, however when I called to inquire, the customer care person was very kind and sympathetic to my frustration and they actually answered my call with no automated waiting!
I would suggest indicating, on the item listing, whether it is eligible for that discount. I wouldn't know to look at a list 'somewhere' that supposedly tells you this info. I'd rather not share my contact info on sites unnecessarily.

Just to clarify, we do have a box above the “Add to Cart” button on every listing that indicates if an item is eligible for the sign-up discount. There’s also the full list of brands that don’t allow discounts on their products, as well as a note that exclusions apply on the popup before inputting your contact info. We completely understand that it’s not always obvious where to look, and hope this helps for any future purchases!

Safe products & educational site

I learned about fire retardants and chemical emissions from Modern Nursery, and love that their products have certification badges on the product pages to easily see which are the purest. As a millennial auntie, I've just received my 6th organic crib mattress, this one for my soon-to-arrive nephew. I love being able to help make sure that my friends and family have the safest sleep environment for their little ones and appreciate Modern Nursery's educational posts and attention to detail on testing certificates.

Swift exchange and great customer service

I don’t know if I have ever received such prompt and great customer service!
I had a stroller set listed on my registry for a specific color and when the item was purchased, it was purchased on the wrong color. This is a non refundable item so I thought for sure I was going to have a hard time getting it resolved. I called the customer service line on Saturday and and knew I would need to reach out Monday since they were closed but I left a VM anyways. To my surprise, on Monday morning I recorded a text from Millie letting me know she handled the error and the color I wanted would be shipped to me! I didn’t have to call again and beg for the change. It’s honestly the smallest thing that made my day because it was one less task I needed to chase down. Thank you so much Millie for your help and resolving the matter so quickly! I look forward to purchasing the rest of the items with you guys!

Dishonest company caught in a lie

I ordered a matching set, a crib, dresser and changing tray. The changing tray was a different shade and texture than the rest of the set. Modern nursery blamed it on Da Vinci manufacturing and said they were working on it with the manufacturer to get a new batch out that actually matches and then they would send me the correct color. That was on 6/25/24. It’s 1/31/25 now. We’ve gone back and forth in a dozen or so emails over the last 7 months of them assuring me they are still working to fix the problem. I have worked in manufacturing, it doesn’t take this long to stain wood a different color and I don’t believe for a second that they’re doing anything. I just want a refund and for them stop jerking me around. I’ll gladly send the tray back.

Very reliable shipping times and GREAT customer service!

I have had a great experience getting my nursery furniture from Modern Nursery!! My dresser had been out of stock for months, and Modern Nursery was the only retailer I could find that would let me order it with an estimated restock/ship date. Their restock/ship date was very accurate, even a month before it restocked, and customer service was VERY friendly and helpful when I asked about an order status update. Once it shipped, it arrived in 48 hours. I'm really happy I have bought all my nursery furniture with Modern Nursery!

Even with issue customer service good

I ordered a dresser that was put on back order, but it was too much time so when I called the person I spoke to helped come up with other options that were in stock. Even though the 2nd dresser was more expensive they helped to get it to me very quickly. Unfortunately, the dresser showed up damaged so the same lady helped me get replacement parts. Their customer service is good.

However, we’re unable to offer a refund now, as this goes beyond both our and also Amazon's policies. Even Amazon doesn't allow returns or refunds on items after this amount of time. We’ve put you in touch with DaVinci so you can order any replacement parts directly from them, given that this is outside the warranty period. We appreciate your understanding on this matter and also please have a lovely weekend ahead!

Customer service was stellar

I erred in placing a couple of gift orders from Modern Nursery. Since I had linked from a registry, I thought the shipping address would be to the gift recipient. When I saw the confirmation of my order, I realized it was being shipped to me. I had a couple of other problems as well. I emailed the store and Millie from Customer Service responded quickly and took care of everything. I could not be more pleased.

Never again Modern Nursery-choose any other da Vinci carters vendor

Never again. 5 other vendors selling the da Vinci product- made mistake of going with modern nursery.

Modern nursery’s delivery vendor dumped box w/ dresser in driveway in pouring rain. 10 feet from a covered porch where the other delivery person put the da Vinci crib box (obviously a different company than modern nursery). I realize it’s their delivery company who messed up. But it’s still their responsibility and a business decision they made in selecting them. The box is soaked through though, splitting, a bolt sticking out and cannot just be moved bc it’s a heavy soaking wet cardboard box. I send them photos and email and also placed a call.

They are not willing to have someone come get/move the box, they will only do a piece by piece replacement for damage. I explained that the wooden dresser in the box has been sitting in the rain, I shouldn’t have to open it and photograph every dismantled piece, match and provide a lot number in order to have situation resolved. I am also now unable to move it bc it’s a heavy wet cardboard box with a dismantled dresser inside and cannot just bring it inside with my husband as I planned bc the box is soaked. No returns, no refunds, and a have to now wait until it stops raining to go open it up in the driveway to take photos and provide lot numbers for specific pieces and they will only replace the parts with visible photo damage. Piece by piece. Even if the wood parts dry and don’t show damage, they have still been sitting in the rain.

Oh- and they will not be covering the cost I now have to pay to have someone come remove this thing.

Lastly they expect ME to handle comms with their delivery company about what happened so that it doesn’t happen again. As if that should also be my responsibility to deal with an issue between Modern Nursery and their chosen delivery vendor. First they blamed carters/da Vinci for this being policy then they suggest I should be handling feedback to their delivery company. Talk about passing responsibility. I am surprised Carters and Davinci allows them to sell their products bc it doesn’t look great from them either.

Go with any other vendor carrying the product. I made a huge mistake using Modern Nursery. I have every intention of telling any of my mom groups and family to stay away.

And for those mentioning a “family business” so was Purdue Pharma. All for helping the small business at least if I had selected Amazon or one of the other vendors, they would have helped ASAP. It’s still pouring rain and my car is still blocked by this thing. Not what I want to be dealing with while pregnant in a storm.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

1. You received 3 different emails from us with tracking so you'd know which day to expect delivery, including a "package was delivered" email at 10:32am on the date of delivery, one minute after delivery. Based on receipt of this email, you could have brought it inside right away.
2. UPS took a photo of the package after delivery. It was 100% dry, the surroundings were dry, and they left it against one of your garage doors, roughly 3 feet from your other (open) garage door. It could not have been in a more convenient location for you to bring inside, and it was left under an overhang from your garage. It was not raining at the time of delivery. You misinformed us that UPS left the package in the middle of the driveway and the photo from UPS shows otherwise.
3. You admitted to leaving the package outside overnight during a rainstorm and then claimed that it was our (and UPS's fault) and demanded that we send a replacement and to retrieve the wet package. The photos you sent of the package were indeed in the middle of the driveway so instead of bringing it 4' inside your garage to protect from the rain, someone opted to drag it into the middle of the driveway and to leave it there for days.
4. We offered to help and are still willing to help in providing a replacement. All we request (per the manufacturer's agreement and per our policies stated on our site) is that you provide photos of the damage to the item, not to the box. More times than not, a box arrives damaged (it's designed to be able to withstand damage), while the item inside is intact completely. For all we know, you could have a perfect dresser in perfect condition, which happens to be sitting in a soggy box because it was never brought inside and it happened to rain. In order to assess the damage and provide either a full replacement or parts replacements for any damaged pieces, we need to see photos of the damage.
4. You claimed it's impossible to bring the box inside because it's wet. We suggested that you just open the box outside (or in your garage considering the open door was 4' away and it was leaning against the other door and could have easily been laid down right inside the garage had you opened that door) in order to take any necessary photos. You have refused.
5. You requested that we have UPS come to retrieve the box which was left outside in the rain. No company, including Amazon, who uses FedEx or UPS or any other ground delivery (including Amazon vans) will pick up a damaged item. It is always the responsibility of the customer to dispose of it (i.e. put out next to your trash cans for your garbage collectors).
6. Had you ordered this item from anywhere else including daVinci, Target, etc, it still would have shipped via UPS and had it been out for delivery that same day, the same delivery driver for UPS would have left it in the same spot. We do not use some sort of specialized delivery for a UPS ground item and we do not own the UPS delivery trucks. After seeing the delivery confirmation photo, we see that the UPS driver did everything he was contracted to. He brought it to the first space with an overhang (the garage) to protect it from the elements as best as possible, couldn't have left it any closer to your point of entry, took a photo, and also logged the delivery immediately so that you would be informed of the delivery and could take responsibility for bringing it inside.

After your continuous threats to write negative reviews, to warn your friends to not shop at Modern Nursery and to file chargebacks on your credit card even though the care of this item was neglected after delivery, we are still offering to help you. We will request again, for the 4th time, to please simply send photos of the damaged pieces, even though we realize that this item was not delivered damaged. Glad to work with you on this and get you a 100% perfect dresser.

We had an issue with some defective parts and the customer service team (shout out to Millie!) was absolutely stellar. Prompt replies, enormously helpful, literally could not have asked for better service. Our replacement parts are already on the way less than a week after reporting an issue. 10/10 would recommend this small, family owned business to anyone in the market for nursery furniture!

10/10 Recommend Modern Nursery with Fantastic Customer Service

I would 10/10 recommend Modern Nursery for baby furniture! They are a small, family owned business carrying great products, and most importantly, they truly appreciate their customers. My husband and I bought a crib, changing table, and dresser from Modern Nursery. We had difficulty putting the dresser together (i.e., broken parts and a locked piece). We reached out to the Modern Nursery customer service for assistance and they/Lily were extremely polite, caring, understanding, and helpful. They took the time to assist us with our issues, eventhough it meant coordinating back and forth with the vendor and ourselves. The played "middle man" wonderfully and were very communicative as well as transparent throughout the process never leaving us in the dark. When preparing for a baby, an inoperable dresser is the last thing you want to worry about and Lily understood this. They were dedicated to resolving our issues in a timely manner. Not only are the products great at Modern Nursery, their service is TOP NOTCH.

Poor product quality, bad customer service

If you’re looking for quality nursery furniture from a responsible company, this is not it. First, there was a delay in delivery of the dresser, which was only resolved by Modern Nursery when we emailed the company multiple times. Then, upon white glove delivery of this dresser, there were multiple problems which we noted within 24 hours: chipped drawer front, broken soft-closing mechanism, drawers not flush with dresser front, drawer interiors not smooth/finished, no anti-tip kit. When we emailed Modern Nursery, they refused to take responsibility for poor product quality and essentially blamed us as the customers for not noticing these subtle issues at time of delivery. Then, we were provided a series of video instructions on how to fix the soft closing mechanism of the drawers ourselves (not the definition of white glove delivery in my experience). Still, there is a chipped drawer front and one of the drawers does not close appropriately. We don’t have an anti-tip kit. The interior of the drawers is not fully finished. We have requested to talk to Modern Nursery management via phone, but received no response. Overall, we wanted to support a small business but would have received better product quality and customer service at a big box retail furniture store.

Firstly, I want to apologize for the delay in the shipping of your dresser - it was indeed delayed by a couple of weeks of our original shipping estimate, because the dresser you ordered is custom made to order (not mass-produced oversees and stocked by the thousands) and carefully made for each and every customer, which unfortunately means that the shipping timeline is subject to minor delays, because Nico & Yeye's workshop made it especially for you.

Our caring customer service team stayed in touch with you throughout this process, always with your best interests in mind! We weren't at all trying to skew the responsibility of setting your dresser up to be in perfect condition, just as you paid for, but rather help you understand why the process was taking a little bit longer, because these issues were not noted on the delivery paperwork at the time of your appointment. If the delivery crew had been notified of the issues, they could have repaired them right on the spot for you which is ultimately what everyone wanted, for you to be happy! It was our understanding that the dresser was completely undamaged at the time of the delivery (from the message you sent us that day, advising that the dresser was not damaged in any way) and that the only issue you had was the soft close mechanism.

You requested a meeting with our management outside of our business hours and although we were hoping to have a resolution before the call, that's not what you asked for. I should have called you the very next day so you would have an opportunity to talk everything through with me, even if I didn't have a complete solution yet. I would like to deeply apologize for not personally calling you to discuss this. I'm sure you wanted to feel heard and being put off made you feel like we didn't care.
We will keep working on this behind the scenes and let you know as soon as the crew is ready to set up an appointment.

Awful experience

Every single wallpaper page on our website advises the below, in addition to the written instructions you received and the instructional video we provided:
Please make sure that your walls are completely smooth prior to application, as this beautiful wallcovering may not adhere to textured walls, and we are not responsible for user error.
As you might have noticed - we always try to provide our customers with as much information on the product and the installation process, so that there is little to no room for error! We're terribly sorry that your wallpaper fell due to textured walls, and even though we cannot provide you with a return due to the item not being defective - as a small, family-owned business, we only tried to find the best possible solution for an error that occurred during the installation process.
The wallpapers are shipped directly from Anewall - the manufacturer, also noted on our website, which is why we asked their Quality Control Team to advise the moment you reached out and they helped us find a compromise so that you can still enjoy the wallpaper at a sizeable discount and reapply them using the instructions manual you received!

10/10 Customer Service

The first dresser that was delivered to my house was beautiful, but the top drawer would not slide in completely. The customer service representatives were so responsive and helpful! Through more delivery issues and damage boxes delivered to my house, the representatives maintained contact, checked in with our deliveries and satisfaction, and made sure our nursery was complete through several weeks of interactions. Would 100% purchase from Modern Nursery again!!
