Horrible experience

Horrible experience! Bought 2 rhododendrons over a month ago. Charged $119.98 immediately. A few weeks later I click within the invoice to check on order status which said that page didn’t exist. I logged into my account which said I never placed an order - remember, they took money from my credit card and I received an invoice stating I did make an order. Tried calling nursery where we were supposed to pick up the Monrovia order and nobody ever answered or called us back. A few days later I Sent an email to the contact us email address on the invoice which came back as undeliverable. At this point, I disputed $ with credit card company for a product not received. I will never purchase from their website again!

Worthless customer service

Placed an online order because I was not able to find the plant I wanted locally. Two days after placing the order, my local Lowes received the exact plant I had ordered. I bought there and immediately tried to contact Monrovia to cancel the order. The plants were not scheduled to ship for 3 more weeks so I was well ahead of the shipment. Have called a dozen times, left messages, no response. Have emailed, no response. Absolutely WORTHLESS customer service. I will never do business with them in the future and would highly advise against anyone else doing business with them.

An Absolute Nightmare

Absolutely awful. They took my money (several hundred dollars) after offering "free shipping," and here I am over two months later empty handed with no ETA of when my plants should arrive. 0 updates on my order status until I made several calls and finally got someone on the phone. As others have pointed out, their claim of free shipping is actually fradulent. They do not ship. They eventually might load your plants onto a truck at which point a garden center who pays 30% the price you do for plants will be covering your FREIGHT charge, which for them is likely on the order of 50 cents per plant or less. You then have to drive to wherever that garden center might be and transport the plant yourself (sadly it likely won't be the one you selected on their website originally when placing your order). According to Monrovia many of their partners have recently stopped working with them, all of a sudden! I wonder why..... This has been an absolute nightmare which is going to end in a credit card dispute or potentially legal action.

Poor customer service all the way

Poor customer service all the way! They make all their money by charging customers for the plants and products they will never get! Then they don't answer the phone when you call them to see where your order is. I will never order from them again! Its a bad operation to say the least!!

Horrible customer services

Horrible customer services. I waited 6 wks for a plant I ordered. The company sent the wrong plant and Ms. Lynn only excuse was-"it happens. We have so many truck we're trying to fill and things just happen." She sounded so flippant. In the end it was clear to me she did not care about the mistake her company made. Sourly disappointed and disgusted.

Don't order directly from Monrovia

Ordered directly from the website at Monrovia.com. Big mistake. Once ordered, email said my shipment would be on its way to an affiliated nursery (45 minutes from me) February 13. Called February 20 to inquire if the shipment left as I didn't get an email as promised. They informed me that they don't ship until my selected nursery orders enough plants to justify sending a truck cross country. That date is unknown as the nursery hasn't yet put in an order. I asked them to change it to a nursery 2 hours away because Monrovia said this nursery has an order on the way later that week. Here we are 2 weeks later and no emails, updates or plants from Monrovia. They do have my money though!

I bought 8 Hino Crimson azaleas…

I bought 8 Hino Crimson azaleas directly from Monrovia and picked them up at a nearby nursery of their choice. In less than a year all but 2 have died. I planted in the fall. Only 1 bloomed the following spring.

I contacted Monrovia several times about these plants not thriving and followed all their suggestions scrupulously. They could never explain why the plants were dying.

Finally, I asked for equivalent replacements in another azalea variety. They would not offer me any compensation - just a haughty email. It's not a good idea to do business directly with them. I only did so because I was buying late in the season and the nurseries near me were out of stock.

I paid retail prices for these plants. Most of the retail nurseries in my area offer a full 1-year warranty on their plants. Don't deal directly with Monrovia!

Poor Customer Service, Purchase Regret

Manager and Customer Service disappointed me. After living in the South, I fell in love with Crepe Myrtles. Moving back to Ohio, I was encouraged to find an Ohio zone hearty-one on Monrovia and ordered two. After the first winter, all the old growth died off, which would mean that the luscious blossoms and overall growth that they're known for, would not occur. Contacting Monrovia, I was told that an unusually harsh winter was the reason, that I could expect better results the next year. After the second winter, both plants are completely dead. Monrovia has failed to offer any reimbursement or replacement.

Beautiful Climber!

I bought a Monrovia Cecile Brunner climbing rose back in early July of this year. I had heard that Cecile Brunner climbing rose blooms only once in the Spring, but the tag on this rose from Monrovia said it blooms Spring through Fall. I wasn't sure that was right, but I bought it anyway. The plant looked a little sad at the garden shop where I bought it. It had been neglected and it was laying on it's side, but it was the only one they had left, so I bought it. I live in zone 5 and I planted it next to a fence and have been watering it regularly. It's only been a month and a half (it's August 27th) and it's grown twice the size! This morning I walked out to find a beautiful, perfect little pink rose waving in the breeze. I'm so excited! This proves that this climbing rose will certainly bloom all season long! I'm very happy. I highly recommend Monrovia!!

(Based on two orders) The plants are excellent -- large and healthy. The shipping is erratic and disorganized, however. Neither order was shipped on time. Both were shipped well beyond the 21 days promised. And the shipping destination for the second order was changed, requiring me to drive 50 miles to pick up the plants. That said, the customer service reps were appropriately apologetic and gave me a VERY generous gift card to compensate for my inconvenience. Shop.monrovia.com offers unique plants, so I plan to risk order #3 next spring and hope it goes better than the first two orders.

Good experience!

I ordered a hibiscus from Monrovia to be shipped to a nursery. I would have like for it to have been shipped directly to me but it turned out to be a good experience. I'd do it again!

I wish I was a gazillionaire

I wish I was a gazillionaire, so I could buy EVERYTHING. Everything that I have purchaset from Monrovia has been beautiful. Whenever I shop online and have it delivered to my local nursery -- it is an exciting experience. Whenever, I shop at my local nursery I always look for Monrovia plants. I have been buying Monrovia plants for over 2 decades, and everything I buy improves the look of my garden. My success at growing my garden is because of the excellent products, care and soil that is delivered in every pot.
