Avoid. Avoid. Avoid

Worst experience with this company. Attempted to use a Monta charger at a hotel last week. £40 was taken as a pending transaction from my account when trying to start charging. The car did not start charging. On a reattempt another £40 was taken and again the car did not start charging. Only one of the £40 fees was released.

On contacting customer services, this has still not been resolved. Although initially they were very quick to respond to me, it has since routinely taken hours for them to respond between messages. Now that I’ve asked to escalate the issue, I’ve been ignored for 3 days and counting.

Can find no other way to contact them. Will avoid Monta chargers in future.

Worst app and website ever

Staying in holiday accommodation in Scotland and was delighted to see they have installed charge points. I started trying to use the charger by scanning a barcode. So far, so simple. Unfortunately the Monta website and app proved to be so complicated and dodgy (it demands your bank account details even though you have entered a credit card) that I gave up and will use a nearby fast charger instead. Obviously designed by someone with no thought to the fact that customers have to set up accounts in real time when they are on the move. Would definitely advise operators and drivers against using this system.

Doesn't work for families

We bought a new charging point after moving house but didn't realise how awful the app would be. There is no way of adding my wife as a charge point user and the support staff can't help. You can't even phone them without paying. It's clearly set up for business use but we're not a business!

Monta & Zappi don't work.

Situation: MyEnergi Zappi linked to Monta. The Zappi is for holiday let guests. Monta says it's connected. It tracks when Zappi is being used. However, Monta do not track the kWH consumption data. It remains at 0 kwh which means the guests get it for free when they should be charged £0.45 per kwh. Technical support from Monta is slow and their first line support are just pleasant individuals with no answers or ability to troubleshoot.

Avoid the Monta and Rolec partnership is a…

The Monta and Rolec partnership is a shambles. Each blames the other in terms of whether it’s a hardware or backend problem. They never visit together together to resolve the problem. It leaves end users with non working EV chargers for weeks and months. HPB Trossachs is just the most recent example I have come across. If you are putting in chargers go for a company that does the hardware and backend support together. Definitely avoid the Rolec and Monta combination.

Very easy…

Easy to use with an excellent informative map, showing location (importantly) and details of the charger etc.

A straightforward easy to use app

A straightforward easy to use app. Only criticism is that ev charging seems to break if the account still has credit but a low credit - no notification given that charging ceased or opportunity to top up account remotely to continue ev charging.
