I would certainly recommend this excellent course, although some of the resources and links are a little out of date. It gave me the boost I needed to get into science writing, with several articles published in Cosmos before course completion.

I think the course was perfect, I've definitely learned a lot. I highly recommend this course for any freelance writer.

This course is incredibly interesting and informative. For me, the appeal of journalism is the research required, and the opportunities for this are extensive within the assignments. The teachings, instructions, writing tips and general delivery of information is excellent.

My experience of Morris Journalism Academy so far has been excellent. The tutorials arrive on time with a reasonably space time to have completed the previous tutorial ( I personally have been way behind for a variety of reasons but had I had the time I thought I was going to have the timing between tutorials is very realistic, not overwhelming or pressurizing) The tutorials themselves are easy to read and very informative. The feedback that I have so far received from my tutor has been honest, constructive and encouraging.

To me this was something unheard of. A great find of a course! So for a few years there, I covered it up and hid it away, ploughing at my own writing.
I can only thoroughly recommend this course as a field to sharpen up your skills and to benefit your writing career 100 percent, you will be changed.

The Morris Journalism Academy allowed me to discover my true passion and provided me with the skills I need to kick-start my career as a freelance journalist. Having studied the tutorials and receiving feedback from my tutor, Andrew Marmont, I now feel confident in my writing, research skills and my ability to write a salable pitch.

Whether you are an experienced writer or not, the Freelance Journalism course is a ‘must do’ for anyone pursuing a freelance writing career. It offers clear and concise information transferrable to the real-world industry environment.

Primarily the course is geared towards the Australian market, a massive hand-up in the industry.

Regardless of genre, course highlights for me are:

- the craft (not just skill) of a good writing technique
- what are saleable ideas
- focused research strategies
- top tips for interviews and
- informative and engaging angle for articles.

Compare for yourself, but this course is value for money. It covers essential topics, genre article structure, and fantastic tutor and student support.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my course from Morris. What I liked most was that it was practical (not academic), and written in sections - by top notch Australian writers who have done what they are talking about. Sections on say travel writing really helped. Even though I’d likely never write for a surf magazine, it was very interesting to see how that worked for example.

Also I found a lot of tips to improve my grammar which sadly they no longer teach in school. Staff are professional and flexible. You will, however, get out of it what you put into writing during it.

Highly recommended to those seeking a practical understanding of writing as a job or skillset in the Australian market, compared with a more theoretical course from university.
