I had a good experience
During the sales process I had a good experience. The only reason I haven’t given this a 5 star review is towards the end of the original transaction, I was told the car had just been reserved online . It was a little frustrating. Maybe the car could have been reserved right at the beginning of my transaction to stop this from happening. Despite this Keanan found an identical car at another branch and got it transferred. There were a couple of little things on the car I asked to be sorted once I’d seen it, and they were done there and then so I was able to drive the car away immediately. I also got in touch with Keanan a couple of days after the sale with a query and again it was dealt with asap. Every email I sent to Keanan got responded to so I can’t fault him. If I was able to give a 4.5 score, I would have.

The staff gave me space to look around and ask questions without hovering. When I did need help, they were clued-up on the VW and ran through all the features.

Sion at motorpoint in Birmingham…
We attended motorpoint in Birmingham and was greeted by Sion. He asked which vehicle we were interested in, gave us the keys and let us look around the vehicle at our leisure which was much appreciated. We decided to make a purchase and although Sion offered us some optional extras there was no high pressure selling tactics. When we collected the car one evening Sion had no issue working beyond closing time and making sure that we were happy with everything about the car and our experience. He also telephoned us the following day to make sure everything was ok. If you are looking to purchase a car and find yourself at motorpoint in Birmingham then please seek out Sion as you will not be disappointed. Sion is excellent and a real credit to the company.

A good place to buy your new car .
I have purchased vehicles from motorpoint on several occasions and have always been very happy with my purchases. This time was no different and I was treated very well by the sales person who helped me through the process including removing my personal number plate and taxing the car I was purchasing . I feel I got a good deal all round .

They Sold Me a Defective Car
I’m writing this to protect other innocent members of the public from the misery I’ve experienced over the last few months.
SHORT VERSION – avoid at all costs. Motorpoint’s website states their customers are protected by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 but if you try and hold them to this, they’ll find any excuse to reject your claim. I bought a 2 year old car from them which presented a major fault within the first 6 months and ended up needing a full gearbox replacement. They’re not accepting my right to reject the vehicle, or willing to issue a refund.
LONG VERSION -
I thought I was ‘treating’ myself to my very first nearly-new car from their Birmingham site - a Peugeot 3008 hybrid, still under manufacturer’s warranty, a car I thought would be a safe, dependable choice for our young family, that I could use for a number of years stress-free. Within 6 months the car presented a major fault – it lost total power in live traffic when I had my young daughter in the car; a very scary experience.
The vehicle ‘rebooted’ itself so I was able to drive it to a main Peugeot dealership for repair (not before the same fault had reoccurred). After 1 week it was returned to me, they were confident it was fixed – 1 mile down the road the same scary fault presented, again in live traffic.
The law (Consumer Rights Act 2015) states that if a fault occurs within 6 months of purchase the seller is responsible; Motorpoint’s own terms and conditions state their customers are protected by these laws. At this point I exercised my right to reject the vehicle from Motorpoint, to which they acknowledged my request, but said we needed to wait for the full investigation from Peugeot. We are now over 3 MONTHS down the line.
The repair required a full gearbox replacement, for a 2-year-old vehicle that had only 16k miles on the clock, of which I had driven only 3k. Surely no car of that age should require such extensive repair?!
This week Motorpoint (not Peugeot) advised me that the car is now fixed and ready for collection – “good news” apparently! And lucky me, “there will be no charges for yourself in relation to this work”! I am fuming! They’re basically trying to ignore my right to reject and hope I’ll just forget the last 3 months of significant stress, huge inconvenience and considerable additional cost (Ubers etc) at not having the car. Peugeot didn’t have a courtesy car available in all that time, and Motorpoint only offered a loan car recently after they realised how awful the aftercare from Peugeot has been – I politely declined their offer as I basically wanted as little to do with any of these people as possible.
Motorpoint mislead me throughout the past 3 months saying I could potentially browse their available cars to consider a swap, in place of a refund. I made it clear from the start I want a refund and still stick to that.
They’ve now advised they’re not accepting the fault falls within the scope of a valid right to reject and are offering me a goodwill 12 month Motorpoint extended warranty, which is a miniscule cost to them (a 2 year warranty costs approx. £700 I believe, so assuming the 1 year warranty is worth half of that).
These companies are all about getting the sale and then good luck to you after that. I regret being a cash buyer as a finance deal would have offered me more protection and power to claim compensation.
I have no settlement with Motorpoint so have asked for a deadlock letter so I can escalate this matter to the Motor Ombudsman to hopefully get justice, and the refund I’m entitled to. The car remains at the Peugeot dealership and I feel Motorpoint are purposely dragging the claim so the pressure mounts on me so I’ll just give up and accept defeat.
I regret ever stepping foot inside that Motorpoint Birmingham dealership and wish I had a rewind button. Their company ethos is #drivingdreams but this has been an absolute nightmare for me!

Overall good
Overall good. It will be good to not charge the customer for transporting a vehicle from your another branch, as it dilutes the purpose of accessing the cars available across Motorpoint UK locations. Also, if Motorpoint could consider financing buyers who are living in the UK for less than 3 years and are on an employment visa. Mr Keanan Uppal supporter really well.

Got exactly what i wanted in the car
Got exactly what i wanted in the car, so that was the main plus. Perhaps i should have been more insistent on getting a full tour of the car given there are a couple of unexpected niggles. But the staff, albeit friendly and attentive, gave no impression about knowledge of the cars themselves, which is perhaps not unexpected.
