To date.
Since buying our car in January it has been back for a problem with the oil warning telling us to return it to their workshop 3 times..It needed to go there because it happened wihin the first 2 weeks after saleand .
And once to a workshop of our choosing for a problem with the engine exhaust centre for something covered by the warranty.( job well done)
On each occasion we had hours of difficulty in communicating with the Ipswich branch, including being assured on the last occasion that when we brought the car in it would be done in their workshop while we waited.Got there and my husband was told by the technician that 'they didn't have a workshop to deal with the problem, but used a local garage..and moreover, that it was the 'first that he had heard of it'
Car left for repair and issued with a courtesy car.Phoned the following day' could we take the courtesy car back to Ipswich as they thought that they 'had left some papers in it'
Our response was polite than they deserved. We searched the car rang them back ( having been give a direct number) and told them that there were no papers in the car.
Car done.Message light out.Assured all checked.
Brought car home.
Next day the oil light came back on!
Weekend,so phoned this morning, no we the technician didn't take calls,we could only leave a message. Also my husband was patronised by being how the receptionist ' did understand my lovely' Yuk!
Please see the review on Google that I wrote on their last promise to sort this once and for all...and the apology and and request for US TO PHONE THEM if we wanted to discuss it.
We await with no hope what so ever, the now being seen by someone capable of of doing the simple job of testing the sensors and/or the glow plugs, which,as the car had been overfilled and they had drained it ( after telling us thst the oil levels were satisfactory) .
Our cynism was justified. An email arrived. They stick rigidly to the policy of 1, their workshop and say 'all okay'
2 we complain and it goes back to the workshop and more work done if necessary.
3 Whoopee! If it is still not right they go to a third party garage.
So.Regardless of customer experience of their workshop they keep to this policy.
Costing us at regular intervals the price of deisel for the return journey from our village and the use of any car that they have available as a courtesy car...regardless of whether it is suitable to meet our needs or not.
We were magnanimously told that if we wish, we can take the car to them(again) have a courtesy car (again.Third time since the car was purchased in mid January) and....guess what...we can leave the car with them. They will look again Do what's necessary.Test drive it. Take it to the third party garage to be done then if necessary.
They seem to forget that this will be the third time that they have checked..given it back, we have driven it home and again the next day before the warning sensor messages again.
So according to their own policy. They should NOW be sending it to a third party garage.
First time my husband waited and they checked the oil levels and the light went out for a while.
Second time last Thursday we collected it again and the warning light was on again.
My maths could be wrong of course..but I make this the THIRD time.
A classic example of Motorpoint Ipswich.
Tomorrow.Motorpoint's Head Office complaints. No joy ,or even a modicum of common sense and we look at further avenues open to us.
The usual mealy mouthed reply from Motorpoint Ipswich.
To clarify and as already stated in this review, we have not declined. We have said, and we will, discuss this with Motorpoint Derby HO tomorrow.
Depending on their response we will, or will not, seek independent advice before we inform Motorpoint Ipswich of our decision.
Happy to update this review and commend the new Manager James Odell.
We made an official complaint to Derby Head Office this was swiftly met with an email from James introducing himself and offering contact by our chosen means. My husband opted for a face to face meeting. He was listened to and our frustration understood.
Within a day or two we had a loan car and James drove the car himself to their Norwich workshop which was equipped to run the diagnostic test which we hsd been requesting.
A full test was done a sensor replaced and our car collected by James.
A faultless response to our complaint.
Car happily collected from Ipswich but just before home...the oil warning reappeared!!!
James and we were gobsmacked to put it mildly and he immediately took advice from the Norwich engineer.
The car is back to Ipswich and will be in the Audi workshop tomorrow.
We were quick to criticise the initial Ipswich response and in fairness wish to be just as quick with praise.
Thank you for your personal attention James Odell. You get 5 stars.

I bought a VW Golf from Motorpoint Ipswich in September 2025. Within a week of having the car, numerous electrical faults appeared. Communication with motorpoint ipswich customer care (Sheri) was extremely poor. I had no replies for weeks and unable to contact via phone with no answer. I had to go into store myself to get any answers. They took weeks to get approval for a diagnosis with an electrical specialist. This was then referred to the VW dealership. I had to complain multiple times to motorpoint who eventually agreed to take the car to VW. However, it appears they never told the dealership the exact issue and VW couldn't find a fault. After this, Motorpoint Ipswich refused to have any further involvement and directed me to Spectrum Warranty. I've now had to pay the cost of diagnostics again with VW who have rectified the fault. VW believe Motorpoint cleared the fault codes before bringing to them the first time. As no fault codes were present previously, yet when I took it myself, 30+ codes were logged. This is now 6 months down the line and £200 out of pocket for diagnostics. Motorpoint are great at customer communication when they are initially selling a vehicle, however, if you have any issues at all, it is drastically poor unfortunately. I wouldn't recommend Motorpoint purely for this reason. It's a shame as they do have some great staff, yet a minority have let them down hugely.

From start to finish Motorpoint made choosing and buying a car so easy. From the moment you walk through the doors at Ipswich greeted by receptionist asking if we wanted a tea/coffee, manager said hello as he saw us looking around the cars in the carpark. Cameron the sales assistant was fantastic, polite, honest, very helpful, such a pleasure to meet and do business with. I purchased a car and so did my parents, both from Cameron. Excellent service from all members of staff. If you are looking to purchase a car I recommend Motorpoint as your very first option as you will not need to look any further.

Thank you for a great experience when collecting my new car. I was greeted with a smile and offered a coffee, which made me feel welcome straight away.
The handover was very relaxed, with no pressure regarding aftersales products – which made a refreshing change compared to other car dealers.
I also really appreciated being able to leave the car safely until Monday. A special thank you to Ollie for kindly giving me a lift to the hotel – that was greatly appreciated.
Thank you again for a smooth and professional handover. I will definitely use Motor point again in the future.

The young man who dealt with our part exchange and purchase was very professional and calm. We had a few problems with the service history of our vehicle which was solved amicably. We were happy with settlement of our PCP agreement. We did not feel pressured into buying extra products associated with the purchase. Overall, all the staff at the showroom were very friendly and helpful.
