We are sorry to hear that your experience with your purchase from us was disappointing. I checked the tracking information and your order was shipped the day after it was placed (our stated processing time is 2–3 business days). After dispatch, the shipment is under the responsibility of the transport company, as we do not deliver parcels with our own couriers. Nevertheless, the parcel arrived within 4 days, which is also relatively fast.
Regarding the price: our tea is not a mass-market product. We source it directly from farms and small producers, which is why the price is naturally higher than what you might find in regular retail stores.
We hope you are satisfied with the taste and quality of teas.

The tasting you attended at the Prague Tea Festival was a presentation by Sergey, where he shared part of his collection of aged and rare teas. Some of these teas are intentionally matured over many years. If someone has not previously experienced aged teas, their deep, earthy, fermented character can sometimes be mistaken for being “expired,” while in reality this profile is precisely what collectors and tea experts value.
All teas presented were carefully stored and selected. Aged teas are appreciated for their complexity and transformation over time, similar to how certain wines or cheeses develop character.
We are sorry to hear that this style of tea was not to your taste. However, the teas were not expired, and the quality was in line with professional standards for aged tea.
If you feel comfortable, we would appreciate reconsideration of the 1-star rating, as it reflects dissatisfaction with a tea style rather than with service or product integrity.

Amazing first experience
Amazing first experience. Amazing. The store itself is an art form which speaks to both owner and staff passion for the craft of tea. Plus there’s incredible pottery on display, including tea sets.
My visit included a very in depth walkthrough of various Chinese, Vietnamese, and Dutch tea. And the owner was present giving a group session on tea culture through his experience, which coincided nicely with Chinese New Year and Ramadan.
The tea itself is fabulous, fresh, and memorable, particularly the Vietnamese variety I purchased!

Unfortunately, one of them just wasn’t for me: the Taiwanese Earl Grey Black Tea. The base tea has a very floral character, and together with the bergamot, it creates a combination that feels a bit conflicting on the palate. I was hoping for a clearer, more defined Earl Grey profile, but for my taste, the floral notes overpower the citrus.

Amazing tea store
Great service - staff was kind and open. Was willing to spend time with us to discuss teas and tea brewing options. Gave us some good personal recommendations. Staff was very knowledgeable as well. It seems like everyone who works here is incredibly passionate about tea and it shows in their attitude towards customers and the quality of service that they provide. Only thing is I forgot to ask the name of the staff member so I cant credit them by name.
Store itself is beautiful, with a great selection of teas that are curated in-house. Their ceramics are also beautiful, with many options for different price points and different brewing styles.
Teas are usually on the pricier side, but the quality more than justifies the price. The teas at moychay outclass any other tea store that I've been to in Amsterdam.
This is a great place for tea enthusiasts and those who want to start their tea journey. If you're in the neighborhood, pop by and grab a seat.

questionable value for money
After my first bad review "bad value for money" I was contacted by the seller. Apparently, I did not use the proper brewing method, as I was explained by the seller. So, I started brewing the tea as they explained with multiple infusions. To my taste the first brew was too bitter, but starting from the third brew it was too weak and not tasty. I did not feel any aroma or anything special at all, just like drinking hot water. So, in my opinion nothing changed much. For me it just doesn't work.

We just wanted to gently clarify something about the teas you purchased. You ordered two samples of high-quality loose leaf teas. These are not intended to be prepared like a regular tea bag for one large mug. They are traditionally brewed in the Gong Fu Cha style — a method using a small teapot or gaiwan with short, repeated infusions.
With this method, a 7g sample can easily give you 6–8 infusions. In total, that comes close to one liter of tea from one sample. The idea is not one cup, but a sequence of evolving infusions, where the taste changes and develops each time. This is part of the experience and the reason why loose leaf tea of this quality is valued differently from standard tea.
If this brewing method was unfamiliar, we completely understand how the price might seem high when compared to a single restaurant cup. But prepared correctly, the value per cup becomes much lower — and the experience much richer.
We are always happy to guide our customers step by step. If you would like, we can send you simple brewing instructions so you can get the full experience from your tea.
We put a lot of care into selecting and storing our teas, and we are proud of their quality. When we receive a low rating because the brewing method was not clear, it honestly feels a bit unfair — not because of the stars themselves, but because we know the tea can offer much more than what was experienced.

I was very impressed by the free tea. It was Experimental semi-fermented Georgian GABA, tastes very soft and has something alike to white tea, I felt a little sweet note of this tea. Was nice to try but I’m more a fan of more pronounced flavors, such as the sour notes of gaba oolongs, or tie guanyin. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I haven’t got any troubles, only satisfaction.
