I am a returning patient to the My-iClinic having had both my cataracts dealt with by Mr Bolger in 2016 when I was 72. He told me at the time that, owing to my type of cataract, I would need another treatment at some future date and for some time I had noticed increasing greying of my vision in my right eye. I have now had YAG laser capsulotomy on this eye and the result is remarkable. I have renewed sharp and bright vision and I don't need new spectacles at the moment. I have no hesitation to trust Mr Bolger with my left eye when it comes to its later stage of lens clouding.

My eye sight was about minus 11. In 2019 during my routine two-year –sight – checking my excellent and kind optometrist Mr Mohan Vaithianathar advised me to think about laser surgery. He recommended My-iClinic and provided me with its card, for which I will remain grateful forever. I searched Dr Bolger and as soon as I read a focal sentence that 20 eye specialists were his patients then I stopped my search and said to myself if 20 eye specialists can trust him with their eyes why shouldn’t I do so. When I went to the clinic the warmth and civility of the staff was amazing; far more organic than just a business demeanour. Dr Bolger was down to earth. I found him one of the best listeners I have ever dealt with. Due to suffering from my extremely poor eye sight during more than 50 years of my life, I spoke a lot and almost entirely irrelevantly. But he listened to me so attentively as if my every word was a vital piece of information for the surgery he was to carry out. By the end of the session my trust in the splendid combination of his professionalism and compassion enhanced into a level that I interrupted his explanation about the technicality and nature of the surgery and only wanted to ask him three strategic questions which were: have you ever done a laser surgery for someone whose eyesight was about minus 11? He said no, not beyond minus 7. Is the fact that my eyesight is minus 11 an issue for the surgery? He said no. Is my age an issue for the surgery? He said no. After hearing his answer I said to him “I fully trust your judgement and just want to go ahead with the surgery.”
Dr Bolger and his good colleagues’ attitude and demeanor around the time of surgery and inside the theater room gives everyone assurance of being in the safest hands. The surgery was done absolutely without any pain or discomfort. As I mentioned before, Dr Bolger is a great listener. Not only that, when you point out your worry and anxiety to him, he will immediately and with undivided attention address your worry. One day I was getting late for my work whilst waiting for his staff to take images of my eyes and forward them to him. I went to his room and let him know about the issue and he rose without any hesitation and told me “ok, instead of images let me see your eyes directly”. I followed him to a room where there was a big machine and he examined my eyes directly. On the day of surgery I told the optometrist that having a good reading sight is a very vital priority of mine so if you could let Doctor Bolger know that. After a few minutes he approached me and assured me that your desire will be adjusted accordingly by utilizing “Smile ...”
I understand the philosophy of this kind of surgery by definition is “becoming independent from glasses” and Dr Bolger would repeatedly say to me “your eyesight will be as it can be with the best glasses you wear”, but for me this surgery has been beyond that. My eyesight is much better and clearer than with wearing the glasses. When I went out for the first time after the surgery I saw the houses as if they had just been washed clean and cars on the road as if they had just come out of car washes. I am wholeheartedly grateful to my good optometrist Mr Mohan Vaithianathar for his advice. And as I told Dr Bolger after the surgery “you are one of the quiet heroes of humanity who don’t appear on the waves and pages of media but change peoples’ lives drastically”. He will remain my hero.

Very polite and efficient. Analysis of the eye was done quickly with very sophisticated equipment and the diagnosis was therefore carried out clearly and efficiently.

Had cataracts removed from both eyes. All staff were friendly, efficient and professsional. All appointments went smoothly and I have no complaints.

Overall a very good service. Receptionists need to be a little more on the ball! Forgot to give me a medical form to fill which then delayed things 15 minutes when they were ready to see me. Everyone very friendly, including the consultant, and not in the least pushy towards procedures.
A little more obvious Covid secure procedures wouldn’t have gone a miss. Wiping of surfaces in front of me would have made me feel more confident. Otherwise very satisfied.

I recently had double eye cataract surgery performed by Mr Bolger. Having been highly myopic from a child, it was evident from my initial consultation that Mr Bolger was extremely knowledgeable and that gave me every confidence in his advice. Even having both eyes done on the same day, which caused me some concern, was handled professionally and expertly. Three weeks later I am still amazed at the results. I would highly recommend Mr Bolger and his team.

The whole experience from the original phone call to the day of surgery was excellent. The Reception staff were friendly and very helpful. Matt (admin) was superb. He was thorough, cheerful, professional and just so great at what he does. Before, during and after the surgery the consultant was also very good - attentive, made me feel at ease and I felt well looked after. A fab experience and I would recommend to anyone!

Such a wonderful establishment. Staff are polite and always willing to go out of their way to help and explain things clearly to you. The lady at the reception is ever smiling and nothing is too much when trying to assist the patients. Ms Sancy Low is my consultant and what a wonderful and highly experienced consultant. Thorough, patient and carefully explains everything you need to know. Sets my mind at rest everytime.
Apart from the consultants I got to be tested on their top notch, state of the art equipments as well. I am honoured I was refered to Mr James Bolger which my doctor had only great things to say about him and his experiences; who them refered me to the specialist in the care I required at the iclinic. Ms Bola Odufuwa has an excellent reputation in the field so knew I would be in great hands when I realised this was where she practices.

I have had glaucoma for many years and I was not particularly looking forward to my field test as I did not feel my last one was particularly efficient and was done twice. I have had many previous field tests with no problems. I need not have been concerned! Matt performed the tests required efficiently and professionally. He explained the test and was very proficient. A great member of the My-iClinic team who really are excellent. Mr Bolger recently carried out my cataract surgery and Ms Odufuwa takes care of my glaucoma. I feel very fortunate that I am able to attend this clinic and feel that my eye sight is being taken care of so well.

Very detailed & patient myopic examinations done by caring optometrist for my 2 kids (aged 7 & 9), followed by another thorough consultation made by Dr. John Bolger. The whole process took about 2-3 hrs but totally worth it as in every procedure was done comfortably and clearly explained! Would highly recommend you to visit them if you are concerned with any rapid myopic development and want to seek solutions.

My first time experience at My-iClinic was very good after being recommended by a friend. All the staff was friendly and helpful. The environment was clean and welcoming. I attended for an initial Consultation and tests. The only reason I did not given 5 stars was due to the price associated with the individual tests which I thought was a bit high given they were just standard optition tests.

Friendly and efficient service. Staff guided me through the various investigations in a professional and caring manner. Full explanations given throughout which was very reassuring

Dr John is exceptional in treating Myophia in kids. His approach is pragmatic and natural. Probably the only Dr to prescribe Athropine drops in the UK. The clinic is well prepared for Covid with all precautions taken care off.
