My suffering with "My eyelab".

Actually 1 star is tooooooooooo much. I went to their office and after eye exam they recommended a pair of glasses and I made the full payment, they estimate 2 weeks to prepare them, however they delayed me for more than 1 month and still I don't receive my glasses yet. Every time I call them, they propose a new date.

Not only did they get my contact rx…

Not only did they get my contact rx completely wrong(I literally went walkin to TARGET next day and optometrist was shocked), but the store manager insulted me when I refused his upsell for his higher commission. They refused to give me my RX until I bought overpriced frames - lied about it saying not ready while they typed in info to their little computer. Employees super unprofessional. Poor sale skills and shoddy rx. Waste of both my time and money. I wish i could bill them my actual hourly rate for lost time. Refused to refund for contacts that hadnt arrived yet that I couldn't even wear without DAMAGE to my eyes(as per a real optometrist). Refunded for those after cx rep decided to insult me multiple times reeking of commission desperation and I quoted their own policy to them. Oh and now it looks like they didn't even do my insurance correct and ordered the wrong lenses entirely. Complete disaster. They owe me for my wasted time.

This place is predatory and criminal.

LIES TO ALL THAT WALK IN THE DOOR

This company misrepresents itself by stating you can get an eye exam and 2 pairs of glasses for only $95. They LIE. You only get that if you qualify based on your prescription. They don't add that information in their advertisement. They lure you in and if you don't know, you will do the exam and think you can get the glasses and then they lay it on you that you don't qualify. They waste your time and tell you lies. They should be ashamed of themselves. I went with my dad who does not have vision insurance and this is what we went through. Then the store said they do the diabetes check and this store said they do not. I would have to go to another store. When I tried calling the main office the only people I could talk to were useless and I kept getting disconnected. They ask for you phone number but don't call you back when that happens. NO ONE SHOULD GO TO THIS PLACE FOR ANYTHING

SCAMMERS!!!

I went to the North Richland Hills, Tx store today thinking I was gonna get the 2 for 95.00 deal. Well I got the run around and he told me that its not for the lenses I needed. (It said single vision and thats what I got.) That it was more for youth glasses? REALLY? Where does it say that...um nowhere. So I ended up paying 400 for one pair of glasses...ridiculous. I should have took my prescription somewhere else way cheaper. BEWARE THIS PLACE IS A BUNCH OF SCAMMERS!!! I have learned my lesson...I wish I could give them double 00 on here. I wish I could get my money back!!!

Scam artist

I called the office on Bandera and got hung up on 4 times. Then I called another office and confirmed your ad for 2 pair of glasses, the refraction and lens upgrade for $95. after confirmation I made an appointment for my wife. Upon arrival I was told it was buy 1 pair of glasses and get a 2nd pair free. When I mentioned the ad the front desk clerk ignored it . Her only explanation was we can't guarantee are price. Where did she get her customer service training, at a cow Maneur factory. She totally refused to answer any questions I had. Totally dissatisfied and can't recommen eyelab to anyone. Reminds me of typical scam artist. Advertise 1 thing and then change it when you get to the facility with no explanation.

Malik!

Malik!! What a great guy! He made my experience so much better than I expected. I walked in cold off the street, no appointment and just hoping to get a feel for the place. I ended up getting my eye exam, shopping for frames, and ordering lenses! I have to use expensive lenses because I need + lenses, far sighted and regular lenses would be like looking through coke bottle bottoms! I paid so much less than the last time I bought glasses. Being retired, I have to be mindful of large expenses like glasses. Malik went above and beyond in helping me with all aspects of my glasses! Thank you again, Malik! Opelika, Alabama

Sneaky advertising practices

Sneaky advertising practices. Claim you can get 2 for $90-- well after all the mandatory fees ("frame club", warranties etc) you can not leave with even 1 pair of glasses for under $300. Two pairs would have been $500. Then when you try to use the warranty a couple months later (cause of their cheap quality ) UNLIKE ANY OTHER EYECARE COMPANY they still make you pay 20% of the retail cost. Now that was under $90! Ha! By the end of the year this cheap pair of glasses may cost me $1000! Bad, bad business.

I wish I had read the reviews before…

I wish I had read the reviews before making an appointment at this place. My eye doctor was booked for weeks in advance, so I was a little bit desperate to get a new prescription and glasses ordered. This is the strangest concept. There is no real interaction with an actual doctor at all. Even the person doing the eye exam via camera/tv is just a technician. You never see a doctor. I was not given any information on pricing or anything in regard to my prescription and frames. Now I’m stuck paying for frames that I felt I was made to buy. I even used my insurance and was still left with a $200+ bill. I will never go to this place again. I will just wait for my actual doctor with quality frame options. This is basically a scam. I guess this is just an expensive lesson for me. Don’t make the same mistake. This is NOT an affordable option. Find a REAL doctor!

This has been a horrible experience

This has been a horrible experience. Started out ordering 2 pair. Got them back and my main pair was not right ( as described when I ordered them) so I sent them back. Another 2 weeks. Then when they came back the lenses did not fit correctly into the frames. Back they go. Then when they came back there was still an issue. So in total I had to send this pair back 4xs. This started in beginning of September and the week of Thanksgiving being the 4th time sending back I was told 3 weeks instead of 2 to get them back. 3 weeks turned into 4 and then that turned into 5 weeks. I was done and asked for a refund of my $400+ I spent. I paid this as soon as I ordered my glasses. Then when I requested my refund they demanded my glasses back right then. Refund was placed 12 days ago and still have not received it. I called and they informed me that it was going to take 30 days and that's 30 business days. So it's a 5 to 6 week process. They didn't give me 30 business days to pay for them. Then when I just called the myeyelab number and was told 30 business days I got a bit upset and was hung up on.
This has been the absolute worst experience I've had in a long time with a company. Would not recommend this place to anyone and will be filing a complaint with the BBB because this is no way to run a business.
Wish I would have read the reviews before I dealt with them.

My daughter loves going to EyeLab…

My daughter loves going to EyeLab because they are always nice to her.But as for there promotion they lie and will give you the run around about there prices. There will try and make you pay more for the glasses.I went in for the promotion buy one and get the other free that was a lie, so i ended up paying almost 150.00 for one pair of glasses because the buy one and get one free was a total of almost 300.00 dollars. When I called customer service they kept giving me the run around about helping me with the problem.

Straight-up Scam Artists

Straight-up Scam Artists

My Eyelab are straight up scam artists. Do NOT do business with this company, especially if you have Blue Cross Blue Shield. I wasn’t happy with my current eye place, so I decided to try another one. I looked them up and they had all five-star reviews, so I called the number. I spoke with someone from another country and not anyone from around here. I was pleased because I could get an appointment quickly, whereas I had to wait weeks at my current place, which is why I was going with another place. As I set up the appointment, I asked them if they took my insurance, and they immediately said yes. I asked again, because they didn’t even check, and they said yes again, so I booked the appointment. I got an email a couple of days before the appointment where I could fill out the paperwork and insurance, which I did, including putting in my insurance information.

On the day of my appointment, I walked in the place and the people they were nice. They took my information and then asked to see my insurance card again. I told them I had already filled that out, but didn’t think anything of it, because they often want a physical copy of the insurance. They looked at it, and then asked what the insurance was through, and I said Georgia Southern. They said it wasn’t covered. I had filled out the paperwork a couple of days ahead of time, and no one had contacted me that it wasn’t covered then either. I wasn’t happy, but they said they could do a payment plan and then I could give the information to insurance who could reimburse me.

They started taking my information and then showed me payment plans. They said I could get reimbursed through my insurance company even though it wasn’t covered. I asked them if I could get reimbursed through insurance why I need to set up a payment plan for the amount they quoted. She said this was a separate charge. None of it made sense. I said at that amount, that was contradictory, and I was confused. I felt like I was going in circles.

I finally asked straight up, which is it, did my insurance cover it through reimbursement or not, and but they kept trying to put me on a payment plan of hundreds of dollars. I’m used to paying a bit out of pocket, but not the amount they were quoting me. I said I wouldn’t do it, because I wasn’t paying for something my insurance would cover somewhere else.

The lady walked away and went over to the counter where the manager was sitting. She sat down and started talking about me to the manager like I wasn’t there. She whispered in her ear in a very quiet voice, “I was smoked.” The manager didn’t hear her (even though I could hear her), and then she said again, “I was smoked.” I didn’t understand what that meant or what was going on, but I felt like they were intentionally trying to gaslight me. Something was completely off. The looks on their faces and how they were reacting to me, they acted like I was the one doing something wrong. At that point, since they were talking about me when I was right there and because of what they said, I got up and walked out.

I called my insurance company to find another eye place that takes my insurance and called another place to get an appointment. They are local. When I told the lady at the other place the basics of what happened and that it was My Eyelab, she didn’t seem surprised and her reaction to my basic rundown of what happened even seemed cynical, like she had heard it many times before. She was very friendly, so I got an appointment when them, and they take my insurance.

I started doing some basic research and found out this company does this to other people. They lie about their insurance coverage to get you in the door, and then try to get you to pay out of pocket. My local branch has a 4.9 on Google Reviews, but on but on Trust Pilot, they’re a 2.2 and on the BBB site, a 1.3. Something doesn’t add up.

I’ve never heard the term “smoked” used in this context, even as an English teacher, so I looked it up, and it literally means, “If you smoke out someone who is hiding, you discover them and make them publicly known.” Another place said it meant, “In a poker game, I assume the speaker meant ‘beat your hand.’” While I could be wrong, it sounds like they have a system designed to scam people on purpose and I didn’t fall for it. Please don’t do business with these people. Run away! They are scam artists, and they will try to confuse you to make money from you, so you spend money with them instead of using your benefits. They are straight up scam artists.

Great experience

Evelyn was very helpful and helped me save money, and suggested I check if my insurance would pay part. They did. So good eye test, and referral for floaters and seeing double, as well as 2 pair of glasses. I always get good and friendly service at My Eye Lab at River City Marketplace in Jacksonville.
