The movers were very friendly but could…

The movers were very friendly but could do with a more positive mindset. They were not as well prepared as they could have been for the job (no fuel in van) but did well to get us moved in a reasonable time and were very helpful. They had good clear communication throughout the job, with an accurate estimation of how long the move would take. Thank you very much !

Dream Team

Incredibly quick and efficient!
Used 4 guys to move an incredibly heavy sofa 3 floors. Took frames and mirrors down, put everything back where it was, and even took the rubbish away!
Will definitely use when I move house!

They saved our move!

We had an absolute shocker of an experience from another removal company the night before, so when I spoke to Charlotte at 19:00 on a Wednesday to book a removal for the next day I was so relieved! She was incredibly professional, empathetic, and helpful and it was such a pleasure to work with someone who clearly wanted to help us.

Despite some bad weather delaying the movers a bit, they contacted us continuously to let us know where they were, Jay and Aaron were quick, and knew exactly what they were doing. After a horrible day before I was so pleased to have found them last minute and received such excellent service. I would 1000% use them again and recommend them over and above any other company.

Huge thank you to the team

Huge thank you to the team that i had on my two booked days. They were not only amazing but they were very professional and courteous. They provided good practical advice which was needed and appreciated They worked continuously to ensure that my move was stress free.
National Moves were a great help from start to finish.

Excellent service but badly communicated spiralling costs

The service was excellent, Alex & his team on the day couldn't have been any more pleasant and helpful; they worked really hard and were really efficient at getting the job done. Alex helped me plan how to get my new sofa in with a backup option if it was too big; the service side of things was excellent and I would definitely recommend them on this basis.

The downside for me was how the costs were communicated. The quotation process is very vague upfront, they are very non committal about how much it was going to cost:

- My quoted costs didn't include VAT, so it caught me off guard when my post-move invoice was 20% more expensive than anticipated.
- £30 non-refundable booking fee feels off and is not a standard industry process - I had wrongly understood this fee to be a deposit to secure the booking and not a random cost for an automated online booking that I completed myself...!
- Double mileage charges are a bit strange too, but I was aware of this upfront at least.

I'm sure that all of the above was communicated in various legal lines and caveats, but I think you guys could do a better job of communicating these costs clearly and visibly to customers. The current way of doing things feels a bit sneaky and are not the right values for a company wanting to secure repeat business to display. Looking at previous reviews I'm not the only one who has had this experience.

It's a shame to have to give this feedback as the service on the day was second-to-none.

They are thieves and charge you for everything, don't use them!!!

I have moved from 1:35 pm to 4 pm and they charged me £363.13.

I have ordered a van with 2 people. They wrapped my desk, 'because of COVID-19', they charged me £59.80 for a cheap, black plastic wrap, which they've put around the desk.

They had £40 per HALF HOUR on the weekend.
They have charged me for two different Mileage:
Mileage Charge £29.99
Milage £12.87 (rate: £0.99; qty: 13)

When I have described to them what I was looking for and what I want, they have estimated the move around £100, and they said it should not be more then £150.

I also had to pay for the reservation, which was £35.00.
Leaving me with nearly £400 for moving from West London to East London, with a desk and 13 boxes.
I've learnt from others that other companies do the same for less than £100.

It was my first ever move in London, but I wasn't prepared and careful enough, even if I've spent a lot of time to figure out my move. Now, that I've read back in their emails, it made sense that the rates were very very high. But of course they began their email: we had a previous moving, with a simliar setup for only £111.

Very disappointed and lost a lot of money.

Upon reviewing your details we have been unable to locate any query or complaint raised with our customer services team despite being contacted by our team immediately after your move.

National Moves had emailed out advice on precautions and safeguarding measures currently in place due to the current circumstance surrounding Covid-19. This also included advice on ensuring all goods are wrapped and packed prior to your move. There is no obligation to purchase materials directly from National Moves, however prices for Materials available on the day, were emailed to you prior to your move date.

A full breakdown of all, if any applicable charges in respect of the Flexible Half Hourly Quotation is provided prior to placing a booking. This is once again outlined at the checkout where each customer is required to read and agree to these terms before procceding to payment. Thereafter, upon booking, a confirmation email, with a breakdown of these costs is once again emailed with the opportunity to cancel free of charge within 48 hours of placing this booking.

In early February you were offered a promotional discounted half hourly rate of £24.99. Having missed that promotion you were thereafter extended an offer of a discounted half hourly rate of £29.99.

It appears that you have opted to booked outside of these promotions and booked the Standard Half Hourly rate of £34.99 for 2 Man and a Removal Van.

On the 23rd March you were emailed a breakdown of your quotation, including the Mileage and Weekend Charges of £5 per half hour. Our system indicates that you have selected the Book Now button from within this particular email and proceeded to reserve your team at the checkout.

There is no record any statements, written or verbal, advising that the move will not be any more than £150. Nor is there a record of any inventory provided. We can however see that at the point of initial enquiry, you had stated that the move would be from a Studio apartment, to which you were advised of what the last monthly average costs of similar size properties were.

All charges and quantities were confirmed and signed for during the course of your move.

Pathetic excuse for a company - DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

UPDATE POST REPLY - the company states they couldn't contact me regarding my claim because I decided to dispute the charge through my payment provider. What they forgot to include were the numerous phone calls and formal emails I sent to their "customer services" team to request contact about my broken TV and the invoice. I never recieved any response, hence I went through my payment provider. My review stands, do not use this company under any circumstances if you want to keep your hard earned money and not give it to scammers. Original Review - Pathetic excuse for a company. This company is 100% run by scam artists. The movers turned up to our property in dodgey looking van which was no where near large enough to move the contents of my 2 bed house (despite going over in detail with the sales person everything we had to move multiple times and being assured this van would be acceptable). They tried to shove everything in which resulted in our TV being broken.

National Moves writes on their website that they are fully insured and accredited but they are not.In the fine print it states they're not liable for anything being broken during the move.

They do not exist on Companies House and they do not have an Aftercare team which they claim to have on their website (been promised a call back over 10 times since February 2020). I've reported them to Trading Standards and any other organisation which looks into fraudulent companies I can find. I've also reported them to their payment provider, Stripe, as a scam. Don't give these people your money, go anywhere else!

All moves include Good in Transit insurance up to the value of £10,000. You were advised prior to moving that National Moves cannot accept liability, nor can a claim against their Insurance be raised for any goods that were wrapped or concealed by the Customer or any persons entrusted, prior to the start of the Delivery Services without reasonable evidence of the Goods’ undamaged condition prior to transit. The team reminded you about this on the day of your move prior to transport and you signed the liability form accordingly.

In reference to the vehicle size on the day, we can see that you had booked a 4-man team 2-vehicle team and later downgraded to a smaller 2-man team and 1-vehicle team. Further to this, you had also opted not to upgrade to the Jumbo Luton recommendation.

The payment adjudicator has since decided in our favour due to the overwhelming evidence with the above matter and has awarded us full costs.

Avoid as plague

I was quoted that it will take 4 hours to pack and move our 1-bedroom apartment. I booked a premium slot and bought their packing materials deal for a 2-3 bedroom apartment.

On the day of the move, they were 1.5 hours late. Instead of two professionals with the proper equipment and our prepurchased packing materials, we received one experienced gay and his apprentice with part of the packing pack we ordered. No trolleys to speed up the process, nothing.

Not surprisingly it took the whole 8 hours to pack and move 1 bedroom apartment. In the end they put random numbers of packing material used (they did not measure in the process) on the check-out sheet. I disagreed with the numbers, and they said it's fine, you can discuss this with our HQ later on.

I was very surprised the next working day when my credit card was charged for the amount which exceeds their initial quote by 4 times.

I immediately followed their complaint procedure by calling them and writing an email. It was on the 17-th of February. Since then I called them 10+ times. Their customer support will not connect you to complain department. Now it is 04 April and no one reviewed my complain yet.

Avoid as plague!

Awful customer service.

Overcharged and after 3 weeks without a response and sending over 10 emails and 20 phone calls a manager finally calls not to say sorry just to blame me for everything that happened and was due to send me conformation of all the calls but still no response. Avoid at all costs

Extremely poor customer service, care for belongings and you CANNOT get through to anyone when logging a complaint! 100% agree with everybody else who is trying to get a fair response from this company!

My experience with National Moves was…

My experience with National Moves was almost abusive. The movers treated my things as if they were rubbish to be thrown out. In fact, they ran out of boxes, and proceeded to place my things in rubbish bin liners, including my Sonos, Apple TV, and the glass jars and eggs from my fridge. Needless to say, the eggs and glass in the bin liners did not fair well. They all shattered and made a mess. When they did use boxes, they threw my items in the box without care. They didn't wrap glassware before packing it. They stacked my unwrapped glasses and squeezed them in the boxes. When I asked about my glasses or why they were throwing my neatly folded clothing in boxes, they said, "don't worry it'll be fine." They also took almost ten hours to pack a one bedroom flat with very few things. I moved those same things a year ago and it took the moving company two hours to neatly wrap (with care) and pack everything, and load them all on a truck. I've been trying to discuss my experience with someone at National Moves for the last few days, but have heard back (despite my many calls). If you value your things, DO NOT USE NATIONAL MOVES.

Worst customer service!

Contacted customer service to make a claim for the things that were damaged during the day of the move, not helpful whatsoever. Nick and Kenneth blamed everything on "third party" - not sure who they were as they couldn't even give out the contact person/company/phone number. They couldn't confirm if the claim was submitted despite having been directed to do it online. We have pricey items and that is why we went for them as they advertised that they have cover for them. Feels like a scam purely to get business!

None of the issues were highlighted to the team on the day and your claim was not submitted until 10 days after the move which is outside the permitted time limit for damage claims.
