Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 37 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the customer service, citing unresponsiveness, ignored emails, and a general lack of support when issues arose. People frequently encountered problems with their orders, including missing products, delayed shipments, and defective items upon arrival. The quality of many products was also a concern, with reports of deodorants burning skin or being ineffective, and shampoos and conditioners leaving hair greasy or causing issues like thinning. A common complaint also revolved around faulty packaging, particularly with pumps on bottles that either wouldn't open or stopped working, making products unusable. However, some customers did find certain products, like sunscreen, to be excellent, and appreciated the pleasant scents of various items, even if their effectiveness was sometimes short-lived.

I ordered 4 things

I ordered 4 things: a deodorant and mini version, body wash and soap bar set. I don't have any problems with soap bar or body wash, but I do have problems with deodorants. I made a healthy switch to organic and natural deodorants and was excited to try Native, because they smell good and overall look like a good product. But it did not work for me. It makes me stink horribly after just few hours of application and I work in a customer service, around people and it's embarrassing. Gladly I found a better brand that 100% works for me. I did made a huge mistake though. I bought deodorants for my mom and sister at Target and it does not work for them also. The reason why that company gets low rating is because they are fooling you on their website with those thousands of 5 star reviews, it's nearly impossible to find any bad review. After realizing the product does not work for me, I was looking online to find any honest reviews and I found many low rating ones. There are customers who said they tried to write negative reviews on Native website and were blocked or censored. It makes sense now where all those 5 stars reviews came from and I will be not surprised if most of them are fake. This is off-putting. As much as I liked the soap and the body wash, I don't think I will reorder. I don't respect the fact that Native is not honest about customer feedback.

First I want to mention that there’s no…

First I want to mention that there’s no way to get a hold of anybody at native deodorant company. I tried to look up a number but there was none to be found. So I went by email as they suggest. I sent two emails at different times and get their automatic response telling me they would get back to me between one and two business days. I’ve been waiting two weeks for them to respond I have no choice but to contact my credit card company so that I can get a refund that way. It’s the worst company I have ever had to deal with that is based in the US. At least I think it’s based in the US?

As of right now my order was charged and apparently NEVER SENT. My emails have gone unanswered. I am very disappointed and will not be doing any more business with them. I guess I’m out the money. I will call the bank to attempt to receive a refund for fraud

Native Lacks Honesty, Integrity, and Ethics

I have ordered several times from Native. The first time was to try the products that Native claimed to have exceptional reviews. I ordered some deodorant and bar soap. I liked both products and found them to be of high quality. As anyone who has purchased Native products will attest, they are also very expensive. However, I do not mind paying for quality products.

On December 2, 2019 I placed a new larger order. I received the typical "cutesy" email acknowledging my order. My credit card was also charged on the date of the order. I subsequently received two emails claiming a problem in the warehouse causing a delay in shipping. After the second email I responded with my own "cutesy" email (as in sarcastic) expressing my displeasure at having my credit card actually charged before the products had shipped. Most people who have done business on the Internet know that reputable companies virtually never actually charge your credit card until the products ordered ship. Not the case with Native. Native may have warehouse problems (or ethical, integrity and honesty problems) but they have no problems with their accounting department and its efficiency in charging customers at the time of order. That process works exceptionally well although inappropriate and unethical.

I subsequently received an email from Native on December 8, 2019 stating my product has shipped. Today, December 12, 2019 I clicked on the "Track your order" button in the email only to find that UPS has a tracking number but has yet to receive the shipment from Native. California traffic may be congested but I don't think it takes more than 4 days for UPS to pick up an order.

So, while the product may be good, it is very expensive and very hard to get even though the customer has paid. I would advise anyone planning to purchase from Native to be prepared to be charged at the time of order and then wait an indeterminate period of time to see if the product actually gets shipped. Oh, and be prepared for some "cutesy" juvenile emails which quickly lose their humor when the actual business practices of the company are revealed.

nativecos.com is _not_ a scam.

They're legit.

I've had my share of concerns doing business with them and purchasing online. Their coupon code looked a bit concerning and got me puzzled, the confirmation email looked oddly enthusiastic, but to be honest - everything went A-OK. Looking through reviews here i started worrying and done some research - even their online store is around for long enough to be debunked if they were fake. But went ahead and did my purchase.

Today I received a nicely and properly (sorry, Amazon) packaged set that i purchased - with an oddly enthusiastic thank-you note, and a pamphlet - and it all arrived sooner than I assumed it would.

I'll certainly be doing more shopping there - their cosmetics are really working well with my skin (unlike 99% of typical soaps and shower gels), the store is elegant and pleasant to use. if i were to change anything - i would probably change these enthusiastic confirmations with something welcoming, warm and toned - but that's about it.

Racist branding

I recently came across the native company on Instagram and I couldn't be more offended by the “native” brand name. This company is taking away the heritage of us Canadian indigenous aboriginal peoples, by you branding a product that has nothing to do with our indigenous culture you are invading our heritage and making profits from a name of an actual race of people. You cannot legally have a product named after African American people’s, why is it okay for you to discriminate the aboriginal indigenous communities by branding your product a racist term the aboriginal ingenious people’s have been called for years. It would be different if your products had a relevance to the indigenous culture, but your just making profits off the heritage and giving nothing to the actual aboriginal peoples who have suffered through residential schools and tons of aggressive assimilation the Canadian government has caused throughout the years. What the native company has done is absolutely terrible this brand name should be for an aboriginal made product something made on a reservation that represents the people as a culture. We do not appreciate the racism and if you would like make this better throughout the indigenous communities throughout the world you should share your profits, help the communities in a bigger way. Rather than dragging our culture and heritage down with a racist brand.

Fantastic Customer Service

I have been trying to switch to a natural deodorant for ages but couldn't find one that worked. I realised I have a bi carb allergy but that's no problem for Native customers as they have a sensitive range that's bi carb free. Brilliant 🙂
Absolutely fantastic customer service. Honestly can not fault the company. Already recommended to family and friends and will continue to do so.
Thanks Native 😀

Please do not use.

Good product to start, or so I thought. I didn’t notice the imitation sweat marks created immediately underarm as it was winter and I always had jackets on. Now that I am wearing shirts only, I can see that within minutes my shirts are staining looking like sweat marks and who knows what damage.
I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone.

Product arrived a week late and wasn't crazy about it

Product arrived a week late, and it wasn't as good as my previous deodorant product with anti-perspirant, but still feel as though I should use it, because I hate to waste a product, and there's no way to return it. The scent isn't that good, or seems to be something to get used to after the change from a more well known deodorant product. Pushy sales tactics, which they kept pushing me on upgrading to a membership before getting my first order, and email me way too much thereafter to the point I had to unsubscribe. Telling me to buy a deodorant product for my mother for Mother's Day really was a turnoff, especially when I don't like it, my hard working mother deserves better, a quality perfume or fragrance! The membership for a deodorant or body wash product isn't a good thing to do, especially if you don't plan on sticking with it, or not sure about a scent, or want to change every so often. Despite having less harmful ingredients, it possibly lacks the quality of a regular anti-perspirant and is overpriced.

poor customer service

My account was somehow disabled when they did an update. I emailed customer service about the account. She said she’d send me my order and my account would be active again soon. She sent me double my order and charged me for it. I emailed customer service several times about the unauthorized charge asking it to be removed from my account. They will not reply and customer service does not have a phone number. I will be contacting my credit card company. Very poor customer service. I do not trust them with my credit card so I will be discontinuing my business with them.

Now my bank has disputed the charges & black listed them...beware!

I placed my order & received 3 different smells. 2 out of the 3 seriously made me ill just with a smell, 1 I tried on & it even made my bird not want to be near me. I've been trying to get this resolved for about 2 weeks now & it takes the support person, Julia more than a day to respond the first time she wrote it was an automated response telling me how to use the product & that my body is getting used to this kind, when I haven't used regular deodorants in years! Now, finally after writing for over a week back & forth, she's just NOW telling me only the big one can be exchanged & not the travel one I paid for. So their product can physically make you ILL & they claim only the full size one can be refunded or exchanged. She still didn't even explain, as I have asked, how the exchange was going to be done...never once answered me fully about any of this.
Update: 3 months later after telling the company I want nothing more to do with them, out of the blue I see a pending charge on my bank account. Clearly a scam since that rep knew about the bad reaction I had & that I was warning others about this company. Even though I decided to let it go & not contact my bank 3 months ago I had no choice with a pending charge this time. It was obvious to them I didn't authorize this charge after I explained all the evidence of e-mails I had from Aug. & how shocked I was seeing this charge! I let me bank take over & they warned me about this company because there are no good phone numbers to contact them...which I knew & my bank took care of the charge/s as well as to put a mark against the company. NO ONE should be taken advantage like this!

Developed Bad Rash + Permanently Stains Clothes

I purchased a set of three deodorants for my partner. This product caused irritation, but after seeking advice he continued to use the product hoping it was just an adjustment period. After contacting customer service, we were given the same advice. Because it was prolonged, we fell out of the 30 day policy and could not receive a refund despite my partner developing a horrible rash that he had to seek medical treatment for. My advice is to return ASAP upon the slightest problem and do not give this product a full try since they will not refund you. This item also permanently stains clothing yellow, which personally, I find is unheard of for a deodorant. We cannot get the stains out and my partner is in some pretty bad discomfort. I would never recommend this product to anyone and go as far as to warn my friends and family to avoid this product. Buy at your own risk.
