Bird heaven on beautiful Grimsey
We travelled to Grimsey, Iceland with Natures Lens. We absolutely loved it. A beautiful, wild and wonderful place. Lovely guesthouse with hosts who couldn’t have been nicer. Some guests were fed up with sharing bathrooms but this was known beforehand. Small price to pay for being in this remote and gorgeous place. There are only two guesthouses on the island and Basar has superb reviews from guests over the years - including from me. There were SO many birds to photograph. Thousands of puffins (many carrying fish in their beaks as early breeding got underway) and Arctic tern, wonderful snow buntings nesting and feeding young wherever you went. Black guillemot, razor bills, meadow pipits, golden plover and ringed plover and on and on. We thoroughly enjoyed eating at the island’s only restaurant - the staff were so welcoming. The food was limited but delicious. I have a shellfish allergy and the cook immediately made up another sauce for me. Dan, our guide, was a delight to be around. He was very solicitous of all the guests and made sure to give advice to those who wanted it (I tried and failed to replicate an excellent photo he took of a snow bunting). He spent a lot of time worrying about the guests and trying to meet their every need. All the arrangements for the trip went smoothly (once we had all worked out the digital reception at the hotel in Akureyri!) I came away from Grimsey a whole lot fitter from all the awesome walks around this little island. I will never forget the many hours I spent on a beach or a cliff top watching the birds - and particularly the magical nights of the midnight sun. This is a trip for true lovers of nature. I do not hesitate to recommend Nature Lens and indeed we are hatching a plan to go with the company to photograph bears in Finland with a couple we met on the trip. Thanks Dan and thanks Nature Lens.
Grimsey, Iceland
Had a wonderful time on Grimsey: midnight sun, loads of birds, awesome scenery and meeting great people. Guesthouse was immaculate, staff extremely helpful, and, Dan, we loved your company, admired your knowledge and the way you ran this tour: First Class!
Hope to be back.

Unprofessional comments from the tour company
Concerning Natureslens's comments, their response proves my point. No client ever should be addressed the way NaturesLens addressed me here. Their statements are erroneous but that's not the point. The point is, the communication is disrespectful, disparaging, and rude.
My original review: The owner of the company and the tour guide were verbally abusive in writing towards the members of a recent tour to Grimsey Island. The general tone of the communications was rude, disparaging, and hostile. No company should treat clients with the kind of disrespect that was directed toward us.

Magical Island with great tour company
I was a bit apprensive about attending this workshop as a lone photographer from Ireland, but, it was a great weekend with great people. I learned lots from Robin Lowery (NaturesLens guide) over the weekend and other photographers, I have about 10,000 photos to go through, I would have no problem recommending Skomer and NaturesLens, is a magical place with memorable images.

Atlantic Puffins - Great Experience
I attended the Atlantic Puffins of Skomer trip in June 2022. I found NaturesLens to be extremely professional in their organisation and communication. The trip was as described in the promotional material. The leader of the trip was Robin Lowry. Robin is an exceptional photographer and very experienced in the ways of the puffins and Skomer. Robin happily gave any photographic advice and guidance that was required our group which had a range of abilities and experience. He was also very attentive to our wellbeing and cooked some great food, something that I was a little concerned about as I am vegetarian and you never know what your "option" will be.
Our group was a nice mix of people and we got on brilliantly.
Overall, the trip exceeded my expectation and I would highly recommend it anyone considering going and I would have no hesitation in booking with NaturesLens again.

Another wonderful trip with…
Another wonderful trip with Natureslens.
This is my third visit to Skomer to see the puffins and as always there was good company and all the help I needed to enjoy photographing my favourite bird. Organised trips like this mean you can relax in the knowledge you are looked after from start to finish giving you the freedom to just think about your photography and I always come home with an expanded network of photography friends.

mull spring 2022
beautiful experience, the location was clean and Jane is the best cook in Scotland. The excursions were well planned also according to the weather. I suggest more attention to participants over 70, excursions to the islands can be challenging if you have knee and hip problems. I would go there again tomorrow

Zimanga is a photographers paradise
Zimanga is a photographers paradise, the bird and night hides were fabulous enabling fantastic photographic opportunities. The trip was led by Pui Hang Miles whose advice and expertise was invaluable. I would highly recommend this trip.

Fantastic trip to South Africa
The trip to Zimanga in South Africa was excellent. The reserve is amazing, both from a wildlife and a comfort point of view. We ate well, slept in comfort (except in the overnight hides!) and had some amazing wildlife experiences. The overnight hides were a bit hit and miss but that's the nature of wildlife photography.

Birds of La Mancha trip
A great trip with many photo opportunities. A host of wildlife in a variety of hides. Drew was an excellent leader, very caring and attentive, ensuring we all had a great time. The accommodation was good, and the food both for lunch and dinner was nothing short of brilliant! The estate at El Taray is a stunning example of wildlife conservation, which in turn gives a multitude of birds to see and photograph. The hides are excellent, and my hesitation photographing through glass was very quickly swept away. It gives one so much more freedom to capture birds in flight. I am converted!
The guides who looked after us were very knowledgeable and helpful in every way. The floating hides (Hydro hides) were the highlight, giving unique opportunities to see water bids at close quarters. It is an amazing experience being in their world. Getting close to Flamingos, and then photographing Great Crested Grebes displaying in the beautiful evening light was an experience to be remembered for a long time. What an opportunity! Thank you....I will be be back!

The Birds of La Mancha
There is no better way to spend spring in Castille La Mancha than at the hides of the splendid Laguna del Taray estate. This vast 1100-hectare property offers excellent habitat for a wide variety of bird species – from the smallest of song birds to large raptors, bustards and even flamingoes! There is an abundance of hides on the property, each suited to a particular species, including floating water hides for better access to water birds. The photographic opportunities are boundless and you easily can come home with excellent photographs of 20 to 30 bird species. NaturesLens’ Drew Sproule runs a well-organized trip and overall is a guide-extraordinaire helping with all problems, always finding great restaurants and just making the trip fun. I find the photographic experience here so good that I have twice made the trip – all the way from the west coast of the U.S. and would consider doing so again.

A Great Trip to South West Texas with NaturesLens
This was a well planned Photographic trip to South West Texas. David Miles is a first class leader who is very organised and knowledgeable. He certainly knows his stuff. The group was small and easy going, with only four photographers, which made for a very friendly team. I came back with some really good images of the colourful birds of Texas and I can highly recommend a trip to Texas with NaturesLens.

Spain - Lammergeiers (Dec 2021)
Originally scheduled for 2020, that trip fell to the restrictions in the Covid Pandemic.
Thereafter, the team at NaturesLens made sure we were kept fully up to date as the trip was rearranged. Wonderfully, they honoured the price at which the trip had originally been booked.
This short break was well organized, the accommodation decent and the hide locations great. Photographing the Lammergeier had been a long held desire of mine so was very happy with the superb photographic opportunities available.
Thanks Pui Hang for your organisational skills, great attitude, professional approach and sharing the fun!
Pelicans of Lake Kerkini with NaturesLens
I had a wonderful trip to Lake Kerkini with NaturesLens in January 2022 to photograph Dalmatian pelicans. Everything about the experience was fantastic, David took very good care of us all and the boatman Vasilis is a gem. The pelicans were show-stopping in every way!

Natures Lens Dalmatian Pelican
Just returned from a very good trip to Lake Kerkini in Greece with Natures Lens led by David photographing the Dalmatian Pelicans. Blessed with some good conditions the boat trips and land feeding gave us all a great opportunity to photograph these majestic birds in their natural environment. I would describe David as a hands on tour leader who quickly identified those of the group who were novices and needed some in-depth advice regarding camera settings and composition and those of us who were more advanced in our photography who sometimes needed pointing in the right direction. I think it would be fair to say that thanks to David we all came away with some great images and better more knowledgeable photographers.

Dalmatian pelicans
I had such a lovely week photographing these beautiful birds in various different poses and in flight. The whole trip was a wonderful experience, this was due to great organisation and patient tuition from David and a very hard working and knowledgeable boatman,Vasilis.
The guesthouse was very clean and had a lovely atmosphere, it was great to see the animals, and to be greeted everyday by the puppies. The trip also needs to have a great group of people, and I was lucky enough to share this experience with one of those, so thank you all.

Lammergeier, Griffon Vultures and Golden Eagles in Spain
I cannot begin to say just how truly awesome this trip was. It made me gasp in absolute joy and wonderment to see so many beautiful vultures right in front of the hide. The Lammergeiers are a truly beautiful and stunning bird. And from another hide in another location Golden Eagles alighting right in front of us. What a wonderful, wonderful trip. Travelling from the UK to Spain under all those new rules, having to fill in online paperwork was a bit daunting but do-able, having to take a 2-day-before-departure lateral flow test from Spain to the UK was all arranged by our wonderful leader and we could do that via Microsoft Teams in view of the authorised medical person. The long drive up from Barcelona airport to the Pre Pyreneese was long but so well-driven by our leader. The whole trip, from start to finish was one of my most favourite trips.....ever. Would recommend this highly to anyone who has a love of vultures.
