I've just completed the purchase of a s/h narrowboat from Dunchurch Pools .
I've bought boats before and I'm not sure why but it's always without fail been a time of worry, unmet expectations and stress .
Fortunately New&Used had the boat that seemed to fit my needs almost perfectly and once they pulled it out of the water for a satisfactory independent survey everything ran like clockwork .
It easy and straightforward, the staff were friendly and helpful , I would have no hesitation recommending them to any of my friends.

If I could give Zero ratings I would. I am an elderly lady whose 70's are a very distant memory. I wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of living in a house so my husband and I thought living on a comfortable widebeam with nature around us and wonderful scenery of our England would suit. We bought and paid cash of £183,000 for a boat from newandused. What a disasterous mistake we made! It has serious problems which they will not attend to, far too many to list. How would they like to lie in bed nightly with the smell of the toilet. We have not seen the nature or the wonderful scenery of our England - we are static!! We have spent £1,500 on remedial work but we need essential work carried out by a professional company. We bought the boat the first week of July 2021 that is a whole year ago. What a waste of the remainder of my life in which this has been the worst year of it.

We bought our widebeam from New and Used Boat Co a few years ago and they were great to do business with. The boat was exactly what we were looking for and was delivered on time. The couple of teething issues (as all new boats have) were dealt with swiftly and rectified well. The boat is great and we love it. Would definitely recommend New and Used Boat Co for anyone looking for a boat.

Knowledgeable and trained sales staff and friendly technical experts supported us for the entire boat-purchase journey. Both teams were on hand and remain so, even after the boat sale is completed.

We have recently purchased our first canal boat through N&U. They have been friendly and helpful throughout the process a pleasure to do business with.

Cannot praise enough the rapid and professional service I received by Ian & Mark of the warranty team. We had a serious water leak on our boiler system which meant we had no heating during a cold spell of weather. We contacted Ian Hilsdon, the Warranty Manager, who immediately dispatched a member of his maintenance team to attend. Within a few hours we were glad to see the arrival of Mark who located the source of the water problem and fixed it very quickly and with little disruption to us.
A very big thank you to them both for their prompt and very professional service.

I can't praise New and Used highly enough. The entire team were very helpful. In particular Ian, through whom I negotiated the purchase of my beautiful narrowboat. Whilst Ian's duty was to secure the highest price for the vendors, he helped a novice like me through the acquisition process. Excellent experience at every step from choosing the boat specifications, watching it be built step by step online, arriving the big arrival and launch then moving onboard and making sure everything was right.

We chose a super high-spec boat including incinerator toilet, lithium batteries and other little special tweaks and the team at N&U met every requirement.

The whole crew were great and even when we damaged the tiller in a lock, Aqualine made a new one and shipped it over.

Beautiful boat, fabulous quality. Can’t go wrong!

We bought an Aqualine Canterbury through N&U order placed August of last year with delivery due end of November the same year. It didn't arrive until January of this year. Whilst we were frustrated with the delay we also understood that there were two mitigating factors obviously Covid and secondly Brexit. Both of which were not the fault of either the broker or the manufacturer. We have had small issues that needed to be addressed and have been, so we are happy with our lot. We spent a couple of years investigating canal boat manufacturers and design builds. Cost verses quality etc. So in that case my partner and myself have been more than happy with the service of N&U and Aqualine of Poland. I would hasten to add that there are a few major manufacturers that promise the best for less money. That all then comes down to personal choice.

i have bought two boats from New and Used and sold one of them. I bought a new widebam in 2015 which was a good experience. There were a few snags but they were sorted including one urgent on on Christmas Day. I sold it in 2020 and replaced it with a narrowbeam. The market was very active but they took note of our very specific requirements and found us the perfect boat which have been enjoying now for 5 months.
WE have got to know the staff over the past 5 years and have always found them very helpful and friendly.

Hi purchased a new wide beam June 2021 few teething issues which is understandable however found all 3 guys in the office helpfull polite and listened to any concern raised. Any issues dealt with would recommend should anyone be interested in purchasing a boat. I continually use the assistance of the office and they are always there to help.

If I could give zero stars I would. The most rudest, obnoxious sales man ever. Clearly wanted us gone. Talked down to us as we enquired about purchasing a boat to live on in London.

The worst company I have ever dealt with , no replies to any emails and a total pack of lies , if you want to buy a boat please please don go here !!!

We didn't have a problem with the price increase of steel, it was the general bad customer service and the attitude of yourself and your staff saying they had done things like post our contract which was never done.
We don't tolerate lies.
We found your staff in Derby rude, should of took note from that and sterred away from your company.
So please don't blame us walking away from you building our boat on anything financial.

Be aware when buying a new boat from new and used we placed our order on the 28th of March 2021 to take delivery in August they have put delivery back twice now so will be March 2022 now they are trying to charge us an extra 5000 because of Steel prices that wouldn't have occurred if delivery was met on time. Say moral of the story is go straight to Collingwood and not to bother with new and used you will only get messed about.

We paid £2k cash, plus our £48k narrowboat in part exchange, in late 2020 against a new boat that was due to be in build from February to May 2021. It is now June and the build hasn't even been started. They seem unable to give us a date for completion, and they've had £50k of our money almost six months, as they resold our old boat straight away. Now they're trying to tell us that the price of steel has gone up so we need to pay extra for our boat. Week after week there is further stalling. I am really hoping to be able to update this with something more positive soon, but at the moment I just wish that we could rewind eight months and take our business elsewhere.

Update December 2021 - we ended up ringing round various other boatbuilders soon after I posted this review. We found one with capacity to build our boat to the design we'd agreed with New and Used, for more than £10k less than their price, and no extra for the increase in steel prices. We have been welcomed to visit at every stage of the build and are taking delivery of our new boat in early January 2022...start to finish in only about six months. The only positive regarding New and Used was that their Finance Director was incredibly efficient about processing the refund of our £50k that they'd had for several months.
