Avoid Helen Dyson
AVOID AVOID AVOID! Me and my wife were purchasing our first house in Leeds. The sellers were buying a new plot from New Home Solutions. We dealt with Helen Dyson and on some occasions, Gina Brookes.
Our original completion date would have been either the 3rd or 4th week of July as that is when our flat tenancy would end. From the very start, Helen from New Home Solutions was very active in the case, constantly emailing and calling me. At first it was ok but it got so bad that I instructed Helen to go through my solicitors as I could not manage all the emails and calls whilst also trying to do my day job. Helen ignored this instruction at first.
Helen was not happy with a completion date of end of July despite this being our position. First, she threatned that the sellers (buyers of a plot from New Home Solutions) would risk losing their plot if we did not complete 28th June. She then said that the building developers would be willing to pay my rent for July if I could complete the purchase for 28th June. This was 1 month earlier than we wanted but we were excited to move into our first house and the offer was too good to refuse. On top of this, we really liked the sellers and we did not want them to lose their plot or go through any stress.
We accepted and our solicitors worked their backsides off to ensure we would complete a month ahead of schedule. Come 28th June, BBC News confirmed several banks across the country were suffering slow/no payments and payments failures to the point where salaries were not paid into accounts. The banks affected were banks that my solicitors, sellers solicitors and my LISA provider use as their banking provider. Due to this banking error, the deposit did not arrive on time and we had to wait until the weekend was over (28th June was a Friday). We completed on 1st July and considering that we met everything on our end but the banking system issue was the error for our delay (not my fault), we still expected them to pay.
After chasing Helen after completion to see the status of the rent payment that was promised, radio silence. I finally got a hold of her (w/c 22nd July) over the phone and she is now playing the "Don't shoot the messenger" card.
As a first time buyer, there is a certain lack of knowledge, naivety and blind trust I gave to New Home Solutions. They took advantage of this. Now, they have confirmed I will not receive the rent payment that was promised which has resulted in me paying my rent and mortgage in the same month, bills for both properties and this is on top of house fees such as solicitors, deposit (my savings), surveys and so forth.
I always looked forward to buying my first house with my wife, and unfortunately, the stress, hounding and terrible experience with New Home Solutions and Helen has made this one of the worst experiences of my life.
Helen, I pray that you do not put other buyers through a similar experience. New Home Solutions, please ensure your staff are trained on how to deal with people and train them on what is acceptable practice.
I will learn from this experience and not be so trusting in the future.
Awful communication and service
The communication was awful, didn’t keep anyone updated or ever phone back. Took around 4-6 weeks to get a response from anyone or a decision. Things not being completed in a timely manner or with any sense of urgency. Only time things would get done is when speaking to a manager higher up. Unhelpful and rude when speaking to them.

Gina was with us from day 1 of the process and has been absolutely instrumental in the move eventually reaching a successful conclusion. Gina is positive, works incredibly hard, and clearly understands the subtleties of what is an extremely challenging conveyancing process. Gina helped massively with managing the estate agents on our sale, keeping them focused and engaged on our sale, helping us massively through a challenging few weeks when we lost a buyer within days of an expected Exchange. We cannot speak highly enough of Gina's efforts for us and will always be grateful
Helen took over once we had a buyer but things were not easy. The conveyancing process lacks any collaboration, good communication or leadership - its awful. Trying to oversee it and to engage with conveyancers and Agents who struggle to stay connected to each other, was no mean feat and Helen had to work hard to overcome that utter lack of collaboration in the chain, in order to give us that oversight of what was going on as we tried to Exchange. Some of the conveyancers involved did not perform, to be honest, and seemed indifferent to the needs of their client. Helen had to work hard and to be very resilient in order to cut through these issues
Overall, NHS through Gina and Helen, were brilliant for us. We would recommend them, cannot praise them too highly and NHS are lucky to have them

Me and my partner are first time buyers, we had absolutely no clue about anything house related! We went to view a home that was advertised by new home solutions and went ahead with a sale. We have been dealing with Helen Dyson as our sales progression and she has been absolutely fantastic. We have been kept up to date every step of the way, no question is a silly question when we have been filling documents in and haven't always understood the lingo! She has been happy to give us advice and guidance. Also very prompt! We have not exeperiend any delays at all from new homes and Helen. Never have to wait for a call back, documents are always complete and ready when they say they will be (which has always been quickly) and mostly importantly to us Helen was friendly and approachable.
