Not sure I want to fly with them now....
Worst airline experience – untrained, rude, and racist staff.
The ground staff is completely untrained and unprofessional. They can destroy your trip experience. Avoid at any cost. They don’t know how to check visas or talk to customers. They ask for UK BRP in 2025, when the UK govt has moved to eVISA. I showed the staff my eVISA document but they still didn’t know how to check. It wasted my 30 mins at the check in desk. The staff was using racist language - that “we don’t want them to send you back’’. Instead of politely and patiently asking for documents. The lady had to call her supervisor many times at the Oslo airport. The lady wasn’t even Norwegian. She was definitely from another country. They were simply avoiding work and it was her ignorance that led to the worst experience. Never flying Norwegian airlines again. Please train your staff.
Buy the luggage and seats you want from the start or you're SOL
It's been a long time since I thought to check the reviews of an airline before buying so I didn't think to review Norwegian Air Shuttle's rep. I'm going to say that at this point, they aren't the best in terms of customer service or app management. I don't know how the flight will go. I purchased my flight through expedia instead of directly with them. Now I can't buy a seat or extra luggage like you can through the app with Vueling or Ryan Air. I have to go to the counter at the airport and buy there. Norwegian says your travel agent can buy the seats or the extra luggage options but Expedia says they can't. It's insane. Norwegian Customer Service says it doesn't have the system to buy the seats or luggage options. Call your travel agent. Expedia says call Norwegian. And round and round it goes. Ridiculous.
Copenhagen Airport: Completely unprofessional "service"
Copenhagen Airport - I went to drop my bags for check-in 5 minutes late on February 16th for my flight from Copenhagen to Barcelona around Midday. Bald Norwegian staff, mid 30s, at the check-in counter offers 0 help, says:
1) Don't bother trying to catch your flight, you won't make it (I did, albeit rushed) - what kind of discouragement is this?
2) Offers no idea of a solution, says there's no baggage storage in Copenhagen Airport (false, as his kind colleague at the service desk pointed me towards some).
3) Condescendingly tells me I should have been there 2 hours before my flight to check-in bags (why does check-in close 45 mins before then???).
This is arguably the worst service I have received by Norwegian - completely this one guy who was unfit for his job and unwilling to do his job - to assist passengers in need.
You would imagine I am not the first customer to be in this situation so the fact that he offered no help and in fact told me wrong information, when I was in a very stressful situation with very little time to act, is ridiculous.
Unprofessional and Discriminatory Treatment at Norwegian Air’s Copenhagen Airport Counter
I had an extremely disappointing experience with Norwegian Air at Copenhagen Airport Terminal 2 on February 6, 2025, between 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM.
When checking in for my flight (D83514, Copenhagen 12:20 – London Gatwick 13:25, Booking Ref: LHVQTM), I was told that my name on the ticket did not match my passport. My passport contains both my given and English names, which are legally valid, and I have traveled internationally multiple times without issue. Despite this, the supervisor at the customer service desk—a woman wearing a hijab—refused to assist me properly and dismissed my concerns outright.
Instead of helping, she insisted I call Norwegian customer service myself while standing at the counter, claiming she had no access to modify my booking. Her only "solution" was to suggest that I forfeit my ticket and buy a new one. When I tried to reason with her, she spoke in a condescending and dismissive tone and eventually said, "Are you done?" before telling me to leave.
This was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. The behavior was not only rude and unprofessional but also discriminatory, as I strongly believe my treatment was influenced by my Asian ethnicity. Norwegian Air must do better in training their staff to provide fair and professional service to all passengers.
I have already filed a formal complaint and expect a proper response and investigation from Norwegian Air. Travelers should be aware of how this airline treats its customers.
They broke my passport at the gate
They broke my passport at the gate.
I was flying to the UK for work (1 day trip). I passed the first passport control with ease (which confirms my passport was valid). The operator at the gate passed my passport on the “sliding” machine and he literally ripped my passport! He blame me saying it was my fault not checking, but it was clearly his fault, as I already passed the first check and the passport was intact! Zero customer service and no admission of fault.
Never experienced such ignorant service. This disrupted my work trip and I will try to never fly Norwegian again.
Stuck in a limbo
We’ve been trying to book luggage for our flights, but Norwegian Airways insists it must be done through Trip, while Trip claims it has to be handled by the airline. After spending hours on the phone with both companies, we’re still stuck in limbo, with no resolution. Tripp even promised a follow-up call within the hour, but they’ve completely ghosted us. A truly frustrating experience—safe to say we won’t be booking with them again.
Norwegian Airlines’ Shocking Service – Multiple Cancellations & No Support
Title: Norwegian Airlines’ Shocking Service – Multiple Cancellations & No Support
I had an absolutely appalling experience with Norwegian Airlines during my trip from London-Gatwick to Stockholm-Arlanda on 27–28 December 2024. My travel plans were completely disrupted due to multiple last-minute cancellations, and the airline failed to provide any assistance or compensation, despite clear obligations under EU Regulation 261/2004.
Here’s what happened:
• Original Flight (D84456) – 27 Dec, 1 PM: Cancelled.
• Rebooked Flight (DY1309) – 27 Dec, 5:40 PM: Cancelled.
• Rebooked Flight (DY804) – 28 Dec, 7:30 AM: Cancelled.
• Final Flight (D88568) – 28 Dec, 7:55 PM: Completed, but nearly two days late.
I was stranded without any food, drinks, accommodation, or transport, even though Norwegian Airlines’ own policies state that these should be provided in such cases. I had to cover all my own costs, including:
• Accommodation (£99) at Lingfield Hotel.
• Food & drinks (£30.12) while waiting.
• Total additional expenses: £129.12.
I also lost two working days, costing me £190 in lost income, bringing my total claim to £749.12 (£430 flight compensation, £129.12 expenses, £190 lost income).
Despite submitting a formal compensation request with all required documentation, Norwegian Airlines has not provided any reimbursement or even a meaningful response. Their treatment of stranded passengers is completely unacceptable, and I would strongly warn others to avoid flying with them.
If Norwegian Airlines compensates me fairly, I will update this review accordingly. Until then, I cannot recommend this airline to anyone looking for a reliable travel experience.
Rude miserable check in staff
Rude miserable check in staff. Charged us for baggage even though we had already paid for it. Would not help or refund. Would never fly with them again
Flight was cancelled/very hard to get hotel accommodation
Our flight was cancelled, very poor communication from the staff who all seemed totally uninterested in helping us, made it feel like it was our fault somehow, had to stay an extra night in Copenhagen and miss important meetings, have tried to get compensation for the hotel but they make it virtually impossible.
Why do companies do this? Do they not understand that if they provide a horrible user experience that people won't fly with them again? It's pretty basic stuff.
Bad Service in the airplane and around
Bad Service in the airplane and around. Hand luggage cost extra. Absolutely joke.
Additionally more than 1h delay.
Norwegian - low cost airline with even lower customer care ethic
Flying Helsinki to LGW. Only available ticket involved stop over in Oslo. Arrived Oslo fine, flight Oslo to LGW delayed. Eventually borded to be told, once boarding was complete, that flight cancelled due to fog at LGW. Not their fault. However, zero ground staff on hand to assist stranded travellers. Parents with small children to the elderly all left milling around trying to find out what to do. Luggage took +2 hours to be offloaded. Got SMS from Norwegian saying we were on a flight to Bergen which departed while we were still awaiting our luggage from the cancelled flight. Then we were supposed to stay in Bergen for TWO nights before flying to LGW via Copenhagen. Ridiculous. We are on a 3 week holiday from S Africa, with friends and family to visit with train journeys and hotels booked. We are also in our 70s and this proposed itinerary would have been a threat to our physical and mental wellbeing. I booked us a hotel at Oslo Airport and a flight to LHR the next morning. Am now claiming from Norwegian. Probably no chance, from what I read about them. The worst customer care I have encountered from an airline in 68 years of air travel.
multiple people in our party on…
multiple people in our party on separate bookings put on standby due to overbooking, which apparently Norwegian are famous for in the industry according to the hotel. flight back was then cancelled with a 3 day delay to the next one, on a fairly major route. Also didn’t correctly book my baggage so had to argue it at every stage to be allowed to use it.
One of the worst airline customer…
One of the worst airline customer services in Europe
I would have given a zero stars if possible. I missed my flight and I had to book a new flight since my one was non-refundable. That was not a problem since I knew they were not refundable. However, I was trying to claim it back from my insurance company and I am not being able to do so since Norwegian Arline refuses to provide a proof of no refund (which is quite standard for insurance claim). They just direct me back to the receipt which is not accepted by my insurance provider.
I tried to call the airliner 3 times and every time is a 30 minutes wait and each time the agent hung up on me.
Terrible experience and I hope not to travel with them anymore.
Disgraceful and unsympathetic company
Disgraceful and unsympathetic company. A very close family member passed away 2 days before I was due to fly, and Norwegian airlines would not refund the fare. No compassion just a straight No! Stay away
In general they're doing as expected
In general they're doing as expected. I've been flying AAL-CPH-AAL more than twenty times the last year, with only two cancelled flights. I think that's acceptable?
I've written them about the same problem three times without any answer (the first one in Danish). Because I didn't get any respond from the first inquiry I started documenting every inquiry to make sure that I did things right. I would expect them to provide me with an answer within 18 days of the inquiry in English?
Lost luggage and no action taken by airline
We flew out of Gatwick on Friday to Norway. Upon our arrival, our luggage did not come through. We were told it is still at Gatwick. It’s now Sunday, -6 degrees and our luggage is STILL at Gatwick. Nobody is helping us, when we call we are repeatedly told there is nothing the Norwegian team can do, yet they won’t give us a number for the London team.
Before we flew on Friday, we were delayed over 2 hours on the runway whilst they were checking all our luggage was on the flight. They clearly knew there was a problem yet flew us over despite our luggage not being on the plane.
They’re not doing anything to find our luggage and clearly just don’t care. This has completely ruined our trip.
This is the worst rip off of an…
This is the worst rip off of an airline. The staff at the boarding gate are absolutely rude and insensitive. Even after purchasing luggage we had a hand bag and should have been the duty of the check in staff to let us know that the category booked didn’t have a carry bag on it and could have been checked in as we bought check in baggage and could have gone in as checked baggage. The world will be a better place without some creeps in it. Do not use and support this airline!
Ripping off customers by expiring cash points.
I used to love Norwegian airlines. But then I received a “refund” from them for a flight I couldn’t take in the form of cash points (they wouldn’t refund my money). These were supposed to be used a later time. I was unable to rebook my flight a few months later because Norwegian stopped flights outside of certain European cities. Now that I want to take a flight inside Europe, I found that my points expired. This is just unfair for consumers. Very disappointed. This airline is not trust worthy.
