Knoxx and ponyo bulldogs

We have had bob In for three visits now and already have noticed and marked improvement in both our dogs who both have different needs
The training he provides is simple but very effective
We have managed to integrate both dogs with breeds that bob has brought to us and and walking has become much less a game of tug a war to actually being able to get the attention of the male have him heel on caimans sit on command and has even shown massive improvement on his anxiety’s to pushbikes / scooters mobility scooters
He now shows control and less anxiety in said situations

Bob him self is a very pleasant straight talking gentleman

And we look forward to continuing to progress under bobs tuition

Bob is happy to travel which is excellent as we are Manchester and he is based west yorkshire

Can thank him enough for all his efforts to date

Many thanks Bob for all you have done you have not only helped us and the dogs

But also give my partner relief and assurance that all will come good

Dargo , the mad Malli

After a disastrous encounter with another trainer and at my wits end, I stumbled upon one to one dog training, after a rather emotional phone call to Rob he reassured me that he could help.
Dargo was collected in a secure air-conditioned van and taken to a local park after the first hour he was walking to heal and not pulling ,a delight to walk, Rob then left me with instructions on homework for the next week.
Rob and his team visit for two hours every week and work tirelessly with Dargo although he is still a work in progress he is a far less reactive and relaxed dog.

About Rob, you get what you see, a very down to earth knowledgeable and extremely passionate man about his dogs and his business

All I can say is thank you Rob and your team for making a reactive aggressive Malinois a lovely family pet and fun to be around

Rob has done amazing with my highly reactive Caucasian shepherd Bear. Bear started out where he wouldn't let any one walk him. Rob came along and got him walking not only on his own but past people and other dogs without any reaction. With Bear its not a signed and sealed case but Rob is persistent and knows the breed, which a lot of people don't. We still have a way to go but im confident with Robs knowledge and help we will get there and Bear will be the perfect pooch.

I enquired about getting help with my very aggressive cocker spaniel and Bob got back to me straight away and booked an appointment to come and see him. Thanks to Bob In only 3 sessions I’ve seen a massive difference in my dog, we even managed to go into a busy shop entrance without any aggressive behaviour. I would highly recommend Bob to anyone for help with their dog.

Rob & the team have been amazing from the beginning. We came to them with an extremely aggressive French bulldog, Maui. He couldn’t be taken for walks because he would try to attack people & other dogs. Apart from family we couldn’t have anyone in the house because he would be aggressive towards them.
We got in touch with Rob & after only 3 sessions Maui is an already changed dog. He can be walked, he’s not longer growling & barking. He’s much calmer & so much more content. Rob & the team have gone above & beyond from the second we asked for their help. So grateful you’ve given us our dog back. Couldn’t recommend you all more. Thank you

Trial day circa 2021

Very reluctant to review but have decided I can't keep quiet any longer.
*This experience actually took place in 2021, but Trustpilot’s date selector doesn’t allow me to choose earlier than 2024*

I did a trial day with Rob back in 2021 to work at his kennels, I turned up and waited at the gate for 30-40 minutes with no reply to calls/texts. Finally Rob came out, explaining he'd had his dog Shep put down the night before.
During the day me and Rob went out in the van with dogs loaded up in the back, we travelled a few hours, collecting some dogs en route. On the journey Rob proceeded to tell me details about his past and traumatic stories of his life, including that due to losing his dog he had contemplated taking his life the night prior and said he'd drunk a bottle of whiskey to numb the pain (he was driving the van at this point). On my first meeting with a man double my age at the time and in control of the vehicle we were in, I was understandably uncomfortable and concerned.
We went to a field where we used slip collars and gave corrections to the dogs to get them to follow, I was told by Rob and another trainer we met that my corrections weren't "sharp" or "quick" enough to be effective. There was a Frenchie in attendance who had a limp, the dog wasn't allowed to engage in the training (as it shouldn't be if injured) but the owner had still paid for the day and "training".
It was my job to walk the dogs on lead around the field to exercise them - there were 2 dobermans (a male and a female) belonging to one customer who had paid for residential - the owner paying thousands of pounds I believe Rob told me. The dogs had been left in the back of a van on the property overnight, the male dobie was very nervous and would bark, so rather than train him Rob put an "anti-bark" collar on him which I believe gave a shock due to the reaction of the dog. The dog cried in response which caused the shock again and the dog then urinated on itself. I felt sick to my stomach and got the dog out of the van and walked him as I didn't know what else to do.
One of the vans needed decal work doing to it if I remember correctly, so Rob asked me to use my personal vehicle to drive us to collect the van, using my petrol which I was told would be reimbursed.
I was supposed to be returning the next day, safe to say I didn't. Didn't receive promised payment for fuel or the trial day either.
Please do your research when looking into ANY trainer for your dog.

Avoid.

The only professional aspect of this company is their website. Rob & his revolving door of poorly paid & untrained staff treat animals cruely & target vulnerable clients.

Professionalism absent, standards questionable

It is profoundly concerning that a business presenting itself as a professional training service should engage in practices as questionable as escorting a disabled client to an ATM to withdraw cash. In modern commerce, where electronic transfer and other secure methods of payment are universally accessible, such behaviour appears wholly inappropriate and raises legitimate questions about financial transparency and safeguarding. Clients — particularly those who may be vulnerable — are entitled to expect that transactions will be conducted with professionalism, dignity, and accountability.

The incident described does not appear to be an isolated lapse in judgment, but rather indicative of a culture where ethical boundaries are blurred. It is, in my view, symptomatic of a business model that prioritises expediency and control over respect and care. When viewed through this lens, it becomes difficult to reconcile the conduct witnessed with the standards that should apply to any organisation entrusted with the welfare of animals and the confidence of their owners.

My sister-in-law, who is both intelligent and perceptive, quickly saw through the facade and sought alternative guidance. She is now working with a qualified and reputable trainer who has provided her with the skills and knowledge to engage with her dog through trust-based, force-free methods. The difference in both approach and outcome has been transformative, and to underscore the point further, the service she now receives is delivered at one-third of the hourly cost of what Mr Metcalfe charged.

AVOID AVOID AVOID

AVOID AVOID AVOID
I made the mistake of purchasing an assistance dog from Rob Metcalfe. He charged me an exorbitant amount of money (nearly 4k) for what he claimed was a “trained dog” and nearly double the dog’s price in training fees in only a few months. The dog he sold me didn’t even know how to sit when asked, so I quickly had to forget about her being an aid for my disabilities. She was extremely reactive to other dogs, lunging and snapping on walks. When I asked Metcalfe for her papers; microchip number, vaccination records, previous vet, etc he kept saying he had forgotten them and when I pressed further he told me he’d lost them. So basically he saw fit to sell me a dog with no records or known history as an assistance dog.
His training methods were barbaric. Yanking my dog around on a slip lead, cutting off her air supply. Even worse he tried to use a prong collar on her which left her bleeding. My poor dog ended up being put to sleep for attacking a neighbour’s dog and biting the local dog warden who came to investigate. This whole experience was traumatising for me, my family and cost my dog her life. Avoid using Rob Metcalfe especially if you are vulnerable, have suffered trauma in your life or are disabled. I can’t speak for others but I certainly ticked all these boxes and was exploited and manipulated by him.

Red flags

I don’t usually write reviews, but after my recent experience I feel it’s important to speak up — not only for my own peace of mind, but also to hopefully help other dog owners avoid making the same mistakes I nearly did.

I reached out to Robert Metcalfe of One to one dog training school and now I believe 'train your dog.co.uk, when I was struggling with my dog’s reactivity. Out of the trainers I contacted, he was the fastest to reply — in fact, he got back to me almost straight away. At the time I saw that as a positive, but looking back I realise it should have been my first red flag. His website looked polished and professional, promising exactly the kind of results I was hoping for. I thought I had found someone trustworthy.

We arranged an initial assessment for £160. The price was higher than others, but I told myself, “you get what you pay for.” During the session, though, I felt increasingly uneasy. He put a very thin slip/choke lead on my dog almost immediately and used firm, sharp corrections. My dog did fall into line quickly, but it wasn’t the kind of listening I was hoping for — it felt like my gentle boy had just shut down. He’s a sensitive, much-loved family pet, not a machine to be yanked into obedience. At the time I pushed aside my doubts and assumed I was just being overprotective, telling myself that a professional surely knew best.

Another thing that made me uncomfortable was being asked to leave a Trustpilot review after that very first visit. I personally don’t feel it’s fair to review anyone so early — good or bad — until I’ve really had time to see their service properly. On top of that, I was asked to pay in cash, which again felt unusual for a professional business.

It was only afterwards, when my doubts wouldn’t go away, that I started researching online. What I found shook me. On platforms like Facebook under his business name and TikTok (under the name @dogdefender) I came across videos where dogs under his training looked stressed, shut down, and deeply uncomfortable. I know he claims there’s a “campaign to discredit” him, but when you’re watching videos filmed by him or featuring him, it’s very hard to dismiss what you see. For me, the penny dropped — this was not the type of training I ever wanted my boy to be put through.

I can’t express how relieved I am that I found this out before agreeing to let him take my dog away for residential training - I've since learned that he doesn't actually have a dog training school and the dogs are simply driven around in his van for days on end. The thought of leaving my trusting, gentle boy in an environment where harsh methods are used makes me feel sick to my stomach. I feel naïve for not trusting my gut sooner, but also incredibly lucky compared to some of the stories I have since come across from other owners.

Dogs aren’t just pets — they are family. They depend on us to keep them safe. I will never forgive myself for that moment when I handed over the lead and let someone else treat my dog in a way that didn’t feel right. Thankfully I stopped it there and then, but others may not be so fortunate.

If you are thinking of using this trainer, please do your research first. Watch the videos, read the experiences of other owners, and ask yourself if those methods sit right with you. For me, the answer was a very firm no. I won’t letting hm near my sweet boy again and I want other people to be spared the same worry, regret, and heartache.

I have read his previous reviews and see that he refuses to acknowledge he even knows who has left the review but this, I believe , is just another tactic to deceive people. Robert Metcalfe really is an accomplished conman who will not stop from what I have witnessed myself and seen on social media.

Very unprofessional and waste of money

After totally believing the website and the trustpilot reviews i called and arranged a 'meet and greet' with Rob to discuss the issue I was having with my dog, a large bully breed.
Rob turned up late, no call advising of the fact, when he eventually did turn up, as I was trying to explain my issues, all he did was interupt me telling me how experianced he was how he had even written an artical on bullies for The Sun newspaper and how he knew and was an expert in the breed, but re reading the website he states that for every breed!
So when i did get chance to say my issues, all I needed was an influence collar and lead and my dog would straight away know how to behave, supplied of course by him.
I had one session with him and paid nearly 200 for him to tell me to buy a new collar and lead and for him to just tug on that lead and spout about how fantastic he is.( the man not the dog)
I was not impressed by him or his supposed training..or lack of.
I did have the option to book further training sessions but I have politely declined as Im after someone who concentrates on the dog and the dogs behaviour and offers remedies for these not a session of "This is your life", where the trainers more important than training the actual dog.
All in all just a pompous little man with ideas of self importancy.
No i do not recommend.save your money look elsewhere.
Edit to also note-I found out after the fact and ask yourself - why would such a reputable trainer and business man have 2 differant business names?
Dodgy dodgy dodgy
EDIT**
Thank you for your response. Since meeting you, I have taken time to do further research as you suggested.
Based on what I found, I have serious concerns.
I came across multiple accounts online suggesting that dogs you were involved with ended up being seized by the authorities or put to sleep after reported incidents. I also noticed that the name on your workwear appears to match someone else already known in the mental health community, which raises further questions.

When I tried to review your material, most of your YouTube videos were locked behind subscriptions, and your Instagram is private, so it is difficult to independently verify the quality of your work. While you seem to have a strong presence across Facebook, Google, and other platforms, the information I’ve uncovered leads me to remain very cautious as it implies quite the reverse of what you claim!
My opinion, based on these findings, is unchanged.
And I would advise others to follow your suggestion and look online.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry you feel this way. The price you paid was for an assessment with the dogs abilities or lack of and to determine a structured training program to get your dog to where you wanted them to be. This was discussed before I turned up. I told you that there had been an accident which was why I was late. I could not phone as it is illegal to make a call whilst driving. If you would like to see how I train the dogs please feel free to go on YouTube and take a look. I have trained 1000's of dogs over the years with success. They have gone onto become a part of many organizations ie..police, security, mental health support to name just a few. I am sorry you did not like my personality but that is no reflection on the high standard of training I give to all dogs. I am here to train them and get results and as much as I would like to have your support I am not here to make new friends. I wish you and your dog all the best.

Ive seen many videos of this man…

Ive seen many videos of this man abusing his clients dogs . All throughout the summer he had a van full of dogs without adequate food and waterand no way to keep them cool ,spending days locked up in cages in the back of his van . The dogs looked distressed in the back of this van , certainly not the happy dogs they were before their owners entrusted them into this disgusting man's care . He uses unethical practices to beat your dog into submission and break their spirit. My family members dog came back a shadow of their former self and we have literally spent thousands on a proper trainer trying to undo some of the damage this man has done. Sadly scars remain . When confronted rhe man is very aggressive and left my aunt scared for her safety. We have contacted the SSPCA without little help and are now considering legal action as from what we gather this man is in no way shape or form a decent dog trainer .

Videos of my training methods are on YouTube should anybody wish to take a look and decide for themselves. I have a Defra licence to carry dogs which meets the standards of the Animal Standards Agency and they have been out to check all my vehicles and have passed them. The dogs being transported in my vans have water, food when we stop for toilet breaks and all have air conditioning. Where you get this information from is beyond me? Do you travel around in your car following me?
