Microsoft Outlook is absolute rubbish

Microsoft Outlook is absolute rubbish. Always has been. I only use for work and I'm trying my best to get them to convert to Gmail. I have never had any issues with syncing through Gmail but outlook, it doesn't like to sync at all and it definitely isn't user friendly.
STAY AWAY FROM outlook!

Hotmail - no email access for 4 days now!

Once again I am prevented from getting into my hotmail account! nightmare! I haven't been able to access my hotmail emails on my laptop for 4 days now!! If you are shopping around looking for a relaible email service don't bother trying to open a new account with Hotmail or Outlook - nothing but problems and I know I'm not the only one by a long way. so frustrating!!! I want this sorted asap

Not as easy as it should be in 2026

Just an experience that should be smoother in 2026. I've had a @hotmail since early 00's, and I guess I'm in the fallacy of thinking "oh I can't change something that has been like that forever" so I haven't, but it kind of sucks. The spam-filter is not smart, the search system is frustrating and the whole system does not do well with the "Go back" button in browsers: It's a mess to search and navigate in older mails. Still, it does the bare minimum of being an email inbox and sender

Absolutely Infuriating

Some time between 21st and 30th December 2025 outlook.com stopped supporting Spark Xtra.co.nz email accounts using either POP or IMAP. Spark Tech's confirmed Xtra mail does not work with outlook and do not have a solution at this time.

Outlook in 2025 is an unstable and severely degraded product

I have been using Outlook since the Hotmail era, and it is rare to see a product that has deteriorated so consistently over the years.

1. The “new Outlook” is functionally crippled
The new Outlook (Mac/Web) feels like a stripped-down preview rather than a professional tool:
basic views are missing (e.g. proper list views in the calendar),
system calendars such as birthdays cannot be reliably deleted or repaired,
settings are ignored or only partially applied,
serious synchronization issues are left entirely to the user.

2. The “classic Outlook” is expensive for what it delivers
I subscribed to Microsoft 365 purely to perform basic maintenance tasks (cleaning calendars, removing duplicates). The result was:
conflicts and inconsistent states,
broken calendars after simple delete operations,
no reliable error handling or recovery.
Charging for this level of quality is difficult to justify.

3. Old data cannot be reliably removed
Deleted contacts continue to generate birthday reminders—sometimes multiple times, with incorrect data, for weeks. This is not an edge case but a long-standing issue with older Outlook/Hotmail accounts that appears to be ignored.

4. Product strategy feels disconnected from reality
Users are effectively forced to choose between:
a “new” Outlook that lacks essential functionality, or
a “classic” Outlook that is costly and unstable.
Neither option results in a dependable product.

Conclusion
Outlook in 2025 is:
* unstable
* overcomplicated
* poorly maintained
* and, on macOS, effectively unusable

Violent racist

3 dishes missing. All food cold. 2 meals had a copped-up plastic drinking straw (more than 1, red & white plastic straw) mixed in. Rang up straight away and the lady was very apologetic- took all the food back and she was horrified. Got the owner to come to the front and he promised to sort it ‘the next day’ as too busy. No calls answered or returned over the next 9 weeks and when my 82 year old mum went in to try and fix this he was aggressive and swore at her and spit on her! Police called and his cctv ‘was broken’!! AVOID

Spam hasn't stopped for 15 years+

I've had a hotmail account for nearly 30 years. I've blocked every bit of spam coming in and reported it. Every single day, my junk email box is full with the exact same style of email spam that I reported the day before. Now, I've been doing this for the past 15 years and it's still an issue today. Any new email, despite how obviously fake it is, will still arrive to my inbox. Sometimes important stuff goes to Junk so you must monitor it. This has been a part-time job for nearly half of my life. Using hotmail is like trying to bail the water out of your boat with a bucket full of holes.
I'm switching to GMAIL because they simply do the basic things Microsoft cannot.
