Daylight robbery
Opened a credit card in August 2023 after Sony offered 24 month interest free credit in earphones and made a number of four months interest free credit offers - Received email today telling me they would not only be removing this facility but charging me 23.9% interest up from 21.9% on any purchases within the 4 months offer still outstanding after 1 March but within the original four month offer period and on the 24 month interest free credit balance outstanding after 1 March - Changing the T&C’s unilaterally like this is false advertising and undoubtedly a breach of UCTA unfair terms and conditions - Will pay all balances by 1 March so they do not make a penny off their dishonest false advertising and never use again -
No payments missed as set up on direct debit, seems my only crime is to pay or have scheduled all payments within requisite 4 months so withdrawn where transaction and interest charged whilst still within 4 months - Outrageous!
Why are we making this change?
This change is in response to an increase in the underlying costs of us providing PayPal Credit to our customers, including increases in our costs of servicing PayPal Credit accounts and in the costs of funding.
Too complicated with their "billing cycles"
Same as lots of people have reviewed on here - set up a direct debit but it wasn't claimed by PayPal credit even though funds available. To be fair, when I called, they waived the late payment fee and explained that it was because I had made an amendment during the billing cycle which stopped them applying for payment. This seems a bit too hit & miss for my liking, you are in danger of getting into arrears and charges. Best to avoid using PayPal credit, if you can.
Excellent Customer Service
I spoke with Sumit in PayPal Credit Collection. He was so informative and understanding, one of my DD's failed due to an error on my part and I had gone into a little bit of arrears. Sumit was not only able to help me get my account back on track, but went out of his way to ask about my circumstances and tell me about at least 3 different options for payment plans or a month's 'breathing space' if i needed it.
As far as Creditors go, I'm glad I chose PayPal, who are actually a million times better than other companies, despite some of the reviews from delinquent customers.
Thanks for all the help Sumit! ^.^
Avoid this incompetent company
I would give them -5 but Trustpilot won’t allow it.
I set up a DDM but it’s almost guaranteed they don’t claim it or send me a message telling me it’s cancelled. I am then charged late payment fees as their incompetence put me in ‘arrears’ I then make a manual payment but despite this, the account is still in arrears until it can be processed in the next payment cycle. After making another payment just before the DDM due date I get a letter stating my account is in arrears as the second payment sent was ‘included in the previous cycle’ so now my account is in arrears again. No one at PayPal can explain it and just hang up when you call them. If you are looking for credit and a friendly, easy to deal with provider then:
AVOID PAYAL CREDIT LIKE THE PLAGUE
Cannot rate PayPal at all after recent…
Cannot rate PayPal at all after recent experiences.
When they make errors their side, it’s the fault of the consumer. Not theirs, oh no.
Direct Debit failure PayPal side, confirmed by them. Late payment charge and credit file marked. Challenged, and reversed, confirmed their system would process the DD within the next week, nothing for me to do.
Get a phone call telling me I am in breach as the payment hasn’t been made. Explain the situation, what they told me, and still it’s my fault for trusting them and their service.
Do yourself a favour, avoid. Mistakes their end are your fault and no matter what they say, they are as helpful as a wet paper bag when it comes to resolution
High apr
High apr. Greed is not considered good business. I’m not impressed with 3% cash back. More like disappointed that they charge just under 30% interest. I was using it just for a credit builder, paying in full so it didn’t cost or hurt me. After some time I quit using it, I won’t support their (like many others) extreme greed. Cash is King. I’d rather take out a personal loan at 7% than use their card even without ever having paid any interest.
Went for the promotional offer and…
Went for the promotional offer and wanted to set up a DD to pay off, however they only will allow this to be set up if you provide Open Banking access which gives them full site of all your transactions from your linked account - complete invasion of personal financial data. I tried to ask about this on the Paypal online help chat and they said the department can only be reached via a separate phone line, so doesn't even sound like its the same organisation running this. Stay well away from this organisation.
DO NOT TRUST 0% They charge you anyway.
DO NOT TRUST 0% They charge you anyway.
Just realised they have overcharged me 1000 pounds extra for nothing. I have been always paying off my credit they really screwed me over will be seeking legal action.
Legal Scam
Legal scam and unethical service. Sad for the people that work there pushed to unethical legal activities. Let alone why no one doesn't like to work for corporations nowadays. they are successful criminals. They charged money to my account for now reason. If you need to speak to them will coast you so much time of your life and tones of frustration. Their plan is to give up. One day though this system will collapse its so obvious....
I made a payment of minimum balance and…
I made a payment of minimum balance and the rest of the balance for a promotional offer I received through paypal credit, the payment did not clear off the balance for whatever reason so now i will be charged interest rates of 25.9%. It is also pretty much impossible to contact anyone from paypal about this issue, complete useless and the worst credit company I have ever used.
Stealing
Hello,
I am a great customer of synchrony bank regarding their credit department. I either pay off my credit immediately or before my financing is up. I bought 2,993 dollars worth of retail from a clothing company online and returned all of it. The retail company refunded me every last cent. Unfortunately, Pay Pal credit did not refund me the whole amount and still charged me 402 dollars. They only have call centers which I have dealt with three times about this.
The first person did not understand what I was saying and was trying to dispute all my charges, which I did not want. Then she told me she would release my funds to pay it off, which differed from our conversation. She was making everything worse. The second time, I got a man in the call center who said it was their fault and that account services said they would take care of it within 24-48 hrs—still 48 hrs, nothing. I then called again and spoke to a lovely woman who admitted that it was the company's fault but that her supervisor said it would take 1 to 2 billing cycles. What pay pal credit is doing is illegal and considered stealing on their end. It means I would pay them twice. First to the merchant, who refunded me, and then again to PayPal credit because they did not refund me the total amount when the merchant had already paid them. What if I had a child with a medical emergency, and that 400 is the 400 I need right now to save and help that child, and I cannot because Pay Pal Credit is holding the money hostage? This PayPal Credit situation is beyond unethical, which means I am not the only one this is happening to. P.S I have screenshots of everything.
Absolute Scam
Absolute Scam
I paid with PayPal credit for my tickets costing £3800. I set up a direct debit of £1000 ad I intended to pay monthly within 4 months. The first direct debit was success. The second direct was not actioned by PayPal. On day 12 after the money was still sitting my account, I cancelled the DD and decided to pay by my card. Initially the money was subtract from PayPal balance but not from my bank. After a few days the subtraction was added back onto my PayPal credit account. The was was that there was not direct debit. On realising, that they are too difficult to deal with, I was relentlessly trying to clear every penny I owed but PayPal would not let me because each attempt I make to pay leaves a zero balance temporarily. I have phoned, messaged and tried to complain but all has proved fruitless. Any advice will be appreciated. The interest free period ends on 19 May.
Complete con!
Complete con!! interest free my foot!!
You have no control over the priority of the payments made on your account.
I made a purchase each month since November 2022 and have paid a certain amount each month assuming that my payments were going to the oldest purchase first, but no, it's going to all purchases, which means that you will end up paying interest anyway.
Paypal refer you to their T&C's by paragraph and section, which would indicate that they have to recite this due to the volume of complaints they receive.
They are not transparent and should be reported to the financial ombudsmen for intentionally misleading customers.
PayPal Credit, DON’T DO IT
Made a purchase from a vendor offering PayPal credit 6 months no interest if paid in full over that period. Set up auto pay of $100 a month to pay it off early. According to PayPal at the time of purchase a scheduled Payment was made for March to pay off the entire amount. I was notified about this, but looking through the app it didn’t show any such payment scheduled, only my auto pay. I assumed it was a mistake, didn’t pay much attention, until they did indeed charge my bank account the full amount of the original purchase. Since I had already made a couple of auto payments, the charge was for more than what I owed leading to PayPal owing me a credit of what they over charged the account for. Spoke with customer service, they can’t cancel the payment or correct the payment amount. For a refund I have to wait 7-15 business days for a check in the mail. Of course this happens at the end of the month right before rent and other expenses will be due. Even after the charge happened, my auto pay of $100 was still active and going to hit my bank account in a few days leading to a larger credit from PayPal. They’re app is not easy to navigate or understand and the customer service people aren’t capable of actually resolving anything. Very poor experience, would certainly not recommend their services, and they have lost me permanently as a customer.
Shouldnt be in business when peoples money involved.
Where do I start?
Customer service doesn't comprehend English which always resolves losses for customers.
Since Synchrony bank purchased PayPal Credit is chaos. The statements online are not updating to true numbers whatever the reason it delayed 1-2 billing cycles. Impossible to navigate the site to understand what they charge and why. Customer service is extremely low trained and can not support customer needs. Could never understand how is the failure to provide an ethical and fair business always resolves errors toward customers.
Last month I contacted PayPal Credit 3 times over chat to make a full payment to cover the outstanding balance in order to avoid interest charges. I called to get a valid number because their website doesn't show it. After making a payment per amount that was provided, I was charged $75.16 in interest. Took me to spend hours of my life before they finally promised to correct it. If if won't be resolved within 2-3 days as they promised I will be making a claim with Consumer Protetion.
Awful to the core
Awful to the core: you cannot pay straight away as other credit cards - when you make a payment it is ‘scheduled’ and by the time Ppal attempts to take it you may no longer have the monies in the account leaving you charged with extra fees: AVOID AS PLAGUE
Total Con
Total Con. Started using PayPal Credit for little things. They have some nice offers of 4 months interest free ext. I used the 4 months interest free credit then used the credit for other smaller charges HOWEVER, you cannot allocate money to pay off the interest free charge! Once the 4 months is up your stuck if you do not pay off the entire amount at that time.
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service, no direct complaint email address or even query email address. If you contact Paypal main company they tell you to phone a number that simply rings out.
Unencumbered by the burden of any form of customer service or ethics.
Untruths, borderline fraudulent.
You can tell a company that either cares or pretends to care about its customers.
Look at the lack of responses on any review.
Grow old and grey waiting and praying for any type of customer service.
They are so big they don’t care. They’ve decided to charge me for a late payment despite my bank records showing I paid. No customer service, no response, nothing.
If you don’t have cause to interact with them then you’ll never know the incompetence behind the average (at best) app and platform.
No redeeming points at all.
If plan to used reward sometimes they…
If plan to used reward sometimes they allowed but after while they charge you the costs of it and end up to pay that, I used PayPal reward to buy Ryanair ticket and after few days they send me a bill in PayPal credit after the payment, do t trust PayPal is vicious organized scammers taking any chance to damage your self...not transparency in where you can using the rewards even if they allowed on payments...
