Ford People’s Sighthill Edinburgh
Had such a lovely experience buying a new car from Ford People’s Sighthill Edinburgh branch , member of staff William helped us pick out our dream car , showing us different options of buying the car, friendly, did not rush us or pressure us , gave very good advice , all round great experience, would definitely recommend
WET BELT ENGINE DESTRUCTION - A favorable outcome, but a painful journey
THE SITUATION: My interaction with Peoples Ford commenced when our family's Focus 1.0 ecoboost suffered a sudden and catastrophic engine failure due to a wet belt malfunction. The vehicle was seven years old and had a complete service history, with all but one of the services being performed by Peoples.
It's vital to note that this same car had previously encountered an oil pickup blockage roughly fourteen months before the belt failure. Peoples managed to rectify the issue at that time, but it was only upon revisiting the repair records following the subsequent wet belt failure that I realized the blockage was caused by wet belt fibers.
A TEDIOUS JOURNEY: After weeks of back-and-forth via email with a senior leader, I constructed a robust case advocating for a cost-free engine replacement. My argument hinged on the failure to explicitly address the root cause of the oil blockage, the omission of information that oil contamination with wet belt fibers signals belt wear and potential premature failure, and the lack of advice to seek further inspection. Was the vehicle handed back with an engine slowly ticking down to destruction? I'll leave that judgment to you, the reader.
Through evaluating the process and questions posed, it seems reasonable to conclude that senior leadership prioritize safeguarding the company's profits by seeking ways to evade responsibility rather than championing customer interests. The culmination of this process was that Peoples said they could not help any further, and they supplied details of the motor ombudsman, all without even inspecting the vehicle!
I commend Peoples' chairman, as a swift email to him prompted an abrupt about-face and a shift in tone within the emails. After re-engaging with Peoples I started dealing with a manager lower down the managerial hierarchy, but who ultimately proved much more effective.
Progress finally began: Peoples inspected the vehicle, attributing the engine destruction to wet belt failure. Discussions with Ford UK followed, resulting in authorization for a cost-free engine and turbo replacement as a gesture of good will, without admitting liability. It is also worth noting that they refused to offer a parts or workmanship warranty.
THE UPS AND DOWNS: This outcome was undeniably favorable for my family. At the time of writing this review, the new engine has powered the vehicle for over 1,000 miles and appears to be performing excellently. Kudos to the Prescot workshop team!
However, there's a flip side: I believe this entire situation could have been prevented had we been properly informed about the significance of the oil blockage before the belt failure. The process which was followed to resolve my complaint, in my view, is somewhat skewed against the customer. I also believe it was those lower down the management hierarchy who ultimately secured a positive resolution, senior leadership added negligible value.
Was this all done out of the goodness of their hearts, or is good will something companies cite when they are backed into a corner? Once again, I'll leave that judgment to you, the reader.
Considering the entirety of my experience, awarding Peoples a two-star rating seems reasonable.
IN CONCLUSION: I'm sharing this review in the hopes of encouraging others to stand up to corporate giants. Be resolute yet polite, maintain persistence and determination, and don't hesitate to be a thorn in their side. In my case, obtaining a cost-free engine replacement for a vehicle that's four years past its warranty is akin to moving mountains. If I can achieve it, so can you!
Outstanding service and support
I found myself in a really tight spot as I was driving my camper transit to an important family event In Orkney when my brakes failed near Falkirk due to a split pipe. I arrived without an appointment and asked if they could help in anyway. The team there got me quickly back on the road without any drama. I’m eternally grateful to the staff who really pulled me out a tight spot. Have only good things to say about this dealership.

Chris in bootle branch was brilliant! He was friendly and helpful and I got the car I had really wanted when I walked in. Car was spotless and ready for the time we arranged. This is the second car I’ve bought from this branch and I wouldn’t hesitate using them again.
Zaf was absolutely great
Zaf was absolutely great - really went the extra mile and kept me informed throughout - great after-sale service as well. Could not recommend highly enough.
Poor Staff
If you are looking for either a new or used Ford, Peoples is definitely one to avoid, there is zero customer service, once you have collected your car they don’t want to know you, they are only interested in getting your money, I couldn’t see why anybody would want to repeat this poor, negative experience.
Here is a list of my issues:
1. Rattle in engine
2. Clunking sound when turning steering wheel on full lock.
3. Engine light on in dashboard
4. Battery (wouldn’t start)
5. Plastic cover missing over light cover in the boot.
6. Exhaust filter warning indicator
7. Steering lock malfunction (couldn’t turn steering wheel)
8. Spanner amber light.
9. Heat direction buttons don’t work.
10. Dirty marks on drivers seat
11. Piece of plastic missing on drivers foot rest.
12. Cracked plastic door/floor surround.
13. Drivers door handle stiff/out of position.
14. Bald tyres.
15. Oil warning light, change oil soon.
16. Front drivers door sticking from the inside, thought I was going to be trapped inside.
17. Change oil warning
18. Exhaust warning
Great service Zafar Liverpool
Great service from Zafar at people's speke Liverpool he's looked after my dad's motability needs and helped him choose a car he requires for many years thank you.
Be very careful
Please be aware that the staff at peoples ford are not to blame for this negative review. I just don't understand why fords associates with bad companies.
We had a van for 3 years from fords. Treated like a baby in immaculate condition. Under mileage. When it came to the end of contract hire ALD Automotive which Fords use as their partner sent an inspector from BCA Logistics. He was snotty, No ID offered. Pictures he took were taken on a angle "purposely" to exaggerate the measurements of any tiny chips. He couldn't try harder to find any faults on this vehicle and he also said the vehicle was going straight to auction were no repairs would even be carried out. Got expensive bill through and they were not willing to even discuss the matter. Our neighbor has just had her Ford picked up yesterday and exactly the same thing happened again. Her car was in perfect condition. They have billed her for a missing service history book which the BCA inspector actually been given and also signed for. This is too much of a coincidence. Fords need to review who they are using as partners as I will never buy or rent a vehicle from them ever again and I will make every effort to inform everyone I know about our experience and encourage them to avoid Fords at all costs including the partners they work with.
Fantastic service
Fantastic service all round from start to finish. The salesman Victor, at the Falkirk Branch was so helpful and just great in all aspects of purchasing a vehicle to driving it away.

I would like to thank Zafar Muhammed for his time and effort while helping our family sort out a vehicle. He was a massive help and kept us in the loop with regards to the delivery or any delays. Thanks again, Zafar.
My car was in Peoples in Bootle but…
My car was in Peoples in Bootle but they aren’t on here to review.
I did speak to the call centre who were based in Edinburgh and both the staff in the call centre and the staff in Bootle were excellent.
The work was carried out to a high standard and I couldn’t be happier after having a bad experience elsewhere.
Awful Service
I inquired on line for a Ford Kuga ST Line X PHEV (new) that all of the Peoples Ford branches were advertising (same car??) at Falkirk Branch. Someone phoned me the next day but I couldn’t take the call as I was driving. I called them back to say I would like to buy the car. The Salesman appeared to know nothing about it despite the advert saying “available now”. He said he would go and look for it and he would call me back. He never called me back. I don’t believe the car even existed as he was offering to order me one. Unbelievable in times such as these that a Car Dealer can’t be bothered to sell you a car that you want to buy. Peoples Ford either need to get their act together or that Salesmen needs training. Probably both.
Bad Language poor service
I was dealing with Jason Ritchie (Livingston) and when I said I know what I was looking for and paid a deposit on the vechile and didn't want all the sales jargon he mistook this for for dropping all basic customer service 3 times he used profanity in his conversation as if he was 1 of my mates..no I'm a customer and language in sales should never involve Profanity. Paid the deposit on the 15th and when the finance he offered came in £50 more per month and higher Apr 6% more than ARNOLD CLARK I cancelled the transaction and deposit wasn't returned until 1st December. There web site says "We don’t match prices. We beat them" FALSE
Stephen Veale at Peoples Ford Edinburgh…
Stephen Veale at Peoples Ford Edinburgh helped us in purchasing a Mustang Mach1. We were delighted with his prompt customer service and his communication throughout the whole experience. We are extremely happy with our purchase and thanks to Stephen for his great customer service throughout! Will definitely purchase another vehicle from Stephen when the time comes.
