A whelping box, also known as a birthing box, whelping pen and nesting box is used in order to protect the puppies after the whelping process is completed and during the early stages of life when they are most vulnerable. The whelping box keeps them safely contained away from the cold, most whelping boxes also contain rails or poles around the lower edges of which we get asked all the time what these are for and the short answer is they stop the mother crushing the puppies up against the sides of the box which could cause the puppies to become suffocated as well as being crushed.
At petnap we sell 2 types of nesting boxes, Disposable Cardboard and Reusable Plastic whelping boxes. Both of these boxes will cope with the duration of the whelping process normally around 6 to 8 weeks before they then move on to a more suitable environment like a play pen as they become ever more adventurous. We stock 5 sizes in both types giving you plenty of choice as also have heavy duty plastic versions in our large 2 sizes.

Would like to highly recommend Petnap: I have used them several times and they have always gone above and beyond to help me out. Recently they dug out an replacement hot pad for a cat bed I bought years ago and is no longer on their website so my cats could be happy again in their warm bed! How kind of them, thank you!

Petnap was recommended to me by a friend, and after searching I found their small heated pad, for our old stray cat who lives in the shed. They answered my questions by email promptly, even though it was during the Christmas holidays, and now the cat has been using it for a couple of weeks, I can give the pad 5 stars. Very simple, just plug in and put under the cat's bed. Job done! Cat loves it and spends much more time in his bed now, which is always warm and dry.

Queries quickly answered by e-mail, item dispatched same day and arrived next day using express courier service. The dog bed has a nice low mat which is great for small Dogs to get into and out of it. It took ours a few days to get used to it but once the heat was found it's become a firm favourite

Quality products and excellent customer service are the watchwords of this company. We have bought from them several times, and have never been disappointed.
When our kitten came to us he inherited our previous cat's Petnap pad & slept on it every day. He's a big cat now, but was quite miffed when it stopped warming up, so we ordered a new one for him. Delivery was delayed due to Postal Strikes - but, when contacted, the company was as helpful as ever. The cat is delighted with his new warm pad. He has barely got off it since it arrived...

It’s a good design of housing but the heat pad itself doesn’t get very warm.
I’ve had previous heat pads from this company but these aren’t that heated.
