Very good instruction

Coming from a classical background, I was looking to get away from relying on reading the score, and instead, feeling more comfortable looking down at the keys, and understanding theory and how it all comes together. I have not been disappointed. There are many, many courses and 3 different levels to accommodate your playing level. Also, many live seminars which are often much like a course in itself, so there is an abundance of material to learn from. And then there is the custom video player which is invaluable in being able to slow down the video as well as repeat sections...to be able to see what is actually being played note for note, and to be able to play along at a slower speed until you are able to play up to speed. Very helpful. Often included is a print out of the performance in case you need to see it on paper.
What I also appreciate is that they often will review some basic ideas and principles before they launch into a lesson that seems "way over my head". It really helps in understanding how they got there.
I've only been subscribed for about a month now, but am optimistic that can make alot of progress with their help.

I'm glad I joined

PianoGroove is well thought out and helps you follow an effective leaning plan. This is not one of those quick learning gimmicks. It's hard work (if you are new) but rewarding. The support is excellent and encouraging. I'm glad I joined.

The way this jazz journey and course…

The way this jazz journey and course are structured is absolutely amazing. This is the online Jazz university I have been searching for years : theory, practice drills, tune analysis, practice planner, ear training. Every module is declined into appropriate levels. and clearly explained. Teachers are responsive to questions, reactive and helpful. Fantastic. Thank you.

Exactly what I was looking

Exactly what I was looking for to bring everything all together and learn in a structured way. After a couple years trawling through various videos and books without much success I came across piano groove. The lessons are really well structured and Hayden is a fantastic teacher. Really easy to figure out what's going with the player also. Re-ignited my passion for learning jazz piano, as Hayden regularly calls out it requires hard work and discipline but I feel like I'm moving forward now rather than spinning my wheels.

highly recommended!

I highly recommend Pianogroove for everyone who wants to improve or start playing jazz piano. It has an extensive library of step by step lessons, jazz standard tutorials but also weekly live seminars and webinars to choose from. Hayden is an excellent and sympathetic teacher who gave me useful personal advice and tips during a live phone call. I especially value the ear training programme which was new for me, but is already giving me more insight and pleasure while listening and playing jazz.
I look forward to exploring more...

A program I will actually follow

Of all the online piano instruction courses that I have seen and tried (and there have been a few), PianoGrove is my favorite. The instructor is thorough, and the lessons well-organized. As far as I can tell, the lessons cover everything that I want to learn about jazz piano, but they move along at a good pace. That's the hard thing to balance: you don't want them to go so fast as to leave you in the dust, nor so slow that you are too bored to listen. It seems that PianoGroove has got it just right.

I like that the instructor is easy to understand, and that the website is easy to find my way around. I like that the lesson player can go up to double speed -- I have used that feature to review lessons previously watched. And I like that it can jump back a few seconds -- also very useful. I really like that I can download and print the supplemental material, such as the sheet music.

I'm still a beginner, so ask me again in a year, but I'm thinking that this is a program of instruction that I will actually follow.

Learning jazz piano at PianoGroove is well worth the investment

I've recently retired, and I decided to take up jazz piano as a new pursuit. I'm very glad I finally decided to join PianoGroove. I've been on the platform for six weeks (after a 20+ year hiatus from playing piano). I've found the content to be engaging and digestible, and I'm enjoying learning and seeing my playing improve week-to-week.

The relatively higher subscription price initially caused me to hesitate joining PianoGroove, but six weeks in, I continue to be impressed by the sheer volume of high-quality content. I like the structure of the available course syllabuses, and these really helped me figure out how to get started. (Hayden encourages members to jump around a bit and explore other lessons, but I prefer the structure and order of the syllabuses.) In addition to recorded lessons, there are 3-4 live webinars monthly and a community forum for those who like to more directly engage. I'm sticking to the recorded content and webinars for now, but I do explore the forums from time-to-time.

If you're like me and have hesitated based on the subscription price relative to other online learning sites, (I almost don't want to commit this to writing) I think they could probably charge more ... there's so much value here, and it's totally been worth the investment for me.

Absolutely brilliant

This is my third year. Started looking at some lessons from Tuomo. I had to watch it more than few times because the concepts are pretty complex, but absolutely amazing. I enjoy the live seminars quite a bit. Don't get to join live because of my work schedule, but always watch the recordings. Tuomo did a Zoom workshop on 'My Foolish Heart', absolutely brilliant. You don't get this type of content anywhere else. I highly recommend PianoGrove.

Great piano jazz lessons

So far, so good : the courses are well structured, divided in lessons which follow a logical order. The instructor is very pleasant to listen to, and a competent piano player too.
And the choice of topics, jazz styles and genres is huge.
No doubt that whoever applies the teachings provided here will in due time improve greatly.
