Graham is a fantastic teacher and very knowledgeable.
I booked the “Essential Bushcraft” course and enjoyed every minute whilst learning some valuable skills.
I look forward to more courses with Polaris.

Although books and videos are great, I found there’s no substitute for being shown by an actual human in an actual woodland. I loved gathering round a campfire for a mixture of concise information and illustrative stories (about practical matters, context, how to choose equipment, what is important and why) as this helped me make sense of the bits and bobs I knew already while filling tons of gaps. But of course, most of the day was hands on- so many different things to try and some genuine new skills to take away. Graham is confident, warm and highly knowledgable (but with none of the ego that sometimes creeps into this field) he’s a joy to learn from. I’m female, went on my own, had a great day and learnt loads. If you’re wondering whether to book- go for it! You won’t be disappointed.

Graham is clearly incredibly knowledgeable about all things bushcraft/outdoors.
I went along with my three year old daughter who had a great time and didn't ask for any digital media the entire weekend.
I'm now pretty confident at fire lighting and sourcing & filtering water.
As part of my job I work with young people undertaking DofE/camping etc and I'd love for them to be able to visit Polaris to be taught bushcraft skills.
I'll definitely be back for my future own learning.

My 10 year old daughter and I took part in the Family Bushcraft and Survival Weekend. Graham was very knowledgeable and helpful. We learnt about building shelters, ways of making and maintaining a fire and water purification. We had a brilliant time and learnt absolutely loads from the course. We would definitely do it again.
Graham was there to greet us and helped us transport our belongings to the area where the course was based. He was friendly and helpful and full of interesting bushcraft information. My daughter and I really enjoyed our weekend and learned to build a shelter, start a fire, collect and purify pond water, identify edible and toxic native species and those used to find water and use as kindling. She particularly enjoyed swinging in the hammock and starting a fire.

I came with my 3 grandchildren (10, 8 and 6) and there was something for all of us to learn and enjoy. We were all a bit anxious about what the weekend would be like, but it turned out much better than we could have hoped.

We had such a great day and learnt so much from Graham. It was fun, informative, and taught me new and valuable survival skills. Having the opportunity to connect with the natural environment and feel that freedom of enjoying time outside like I did as a child was refreshing and a welcome opportunity from the reality of everyday life. An unexpected benefit was the chance to meet new people, we were a group of 16 of varying ages and interests.

We had a great day despite the adverse weather. Graham was a great teacher and took us through the many ways to identify the trees all around us. I didn’t realise how little I knew about trees! Plus he gave lots of interesting information about trees and their uses. Fascinating day.
