Terrible experience. Took a year to transfer my pension and I had to constantly get directly involved and contact my pension provider. At one point I was told I couldn't transfer my pension because it was a defined benefit scheme (after receiving the financial report from Portafina that told me I could). It was left to me to investigate the position and convince them that I was eligible to transfer. I was calling Portafina at least every other week and rarely spoke to the same person twice. Just two examples of the poor and very expensive service received. Avoid and go with a local financial adviser.

Great service, very polite and professional. Will always explain things if you are not sure and there is no masses of paperwork to fill out. Can recommend Portafina.

I never contacted this company, I never asked for their advice and I never will. Who did they bribe, who sold my private information !?! Never spam me again.

As a side note, beware of people promoting the "Benefits of Pension Release". They do not tell you of the many people who's savings, pensions . . . . lives were destroyed forever, due to listening to SALESMAN promising easy money. I advise against listening to companies like these. Do your own independent research into their horror stories before you even consider doing something as stupid as PAYING companies out of YOUR pension, to get to your own money.

If you really wanted to release some of your pension,
it is easy, you can do it yourself. All you need to do is contact your pension provider and ask them what your options are. Just make sure you keep tax implications in mind when taking money out of your pension.

If you feel you need help, there are many reputable institutions that will help you (for a fee !). They are easy to find with a search on the internet but I suggest staying with known big names. Do not contact just one, ask at least three, compare what they will do, their fees and look at reviews on sites like Trustpilot. Only then decide.

In my opinion. If a company spams you out of the blue, stay clear. Portafina's literature has the same smell as timeshare from years ago to me, I see red lights all over it.

In basic terms, my experience was hassle free. Each person I spoke to on the phone spoke to me in plain English and not jargon. They were polite and friendly and if I was promised a phone call, that's what happened. Very reliable.

EASY TO DEAL WITH WHILST DISCUSSING INIITIAL PROCESS OF RETAINING PORTAFINA AS ADVISOR, BUT ONCE SIGNED TO THEM THEY SEEM TO LOOSE INTEREST. CONSTANTLY HAVE TO CHASE AND PROD AFTER SUBMITTING REQUESTS FOR THEM TO ACTION.

It took eight months to sort out but they took their fees before I got my money they would never give a straight answer to any questions I would not recomend to my worst enemy

Update, just received an email from Portafina, they say they are sorry for the letters, and have removed me from their mailing list. I am glad that they have done this, thank you Portafina.
They keep on sending me forms for my pension to be moved, presumably to them, no chance. I have asked them at least twice to remove me from their database. Have not done so. So I just put all their paperwork back in their envelope, write on it remove me from their database and send it all back to them costing them money. After reading other reviews would not touch this crowd with the proverbial barge pole.
Another nice fat envelope coming your way Portafina, with the same message.

Started the process in April, thinking 4 months would be plenty of time ,,,,,, very poor feedback , its my pension ,why am I not involved ??? I will be more than happy to update this revue when this iceberg starts to move ...... ball in your court !!!!!!!
