AVOID!!!

AVOID!!!
Phoned and cancelled an automatic renewal, the agent told me it was cancelled and he sent me an email, saying I’d renewed. The self service centre link or account link doesn’t work!!
I’ve now called the bank and blocked the payment!!
Don’t go there!!!

As mentioned by other users

As mentioned by other users. Their system cannot cope with the number of users. They auto renewed my policy, I struggled to get into their log in page for 20 minutes, after that I realised that there was no cancel and refund option, that Id need to call them but they weren't open. This kind of anxiety causing tactic to take peoples money makes me sick to my core and the reason I won't be using them again.

Awful website, awful complaints handling

The website wouldn’t let me log in (even though my details are saved on a password manager, so were definitely correct). Then it wouldn’t let me reset my password - it got stuck in a loop of password incorrect > cannot reset password > password already in use. The customer service person admitted that this was a known fault. I raised a complaint about this and it took weeks and weeks to get a response. I’d stay well clear of- their systems are not fit for purpose.

I wish I read the reviews first

I wish I read the reviews first. I signed up for post office home insurance in January 2025 & paid first premium by card. I set up the direct debit through Premium Credit but a few days after the 2nd payment was due I had a letter saying they couldn't take the money because my DD had been cancelled (not by me). They wanted £25 extra for missed payment. I paid this & was assured the DD was reinstated in time for the 3rd payment. It wasn't because I got an identical letter. I've since cancelled and gone elsewhere. It is a shambles!

Awful - Avoid

Awful, please avoid for your own sake. I’ve been waiting 3 months for a basic response in relation to some building work and they promise a call back but never do. Managers refuse to speak to you and hide behind front line staff, who just say they are passing every enquiry to the underwriter then don’t respond. Will be cancelling my policy and getting a full refund.

Fraudsters that don’t follow the terms and conditions

They are a fraud and I shall take all the necessary steps to have their licence revoked.

In 2022 I bought a home insurance with them and I selected NOT RENEWABLE. Since then they’ve taken more than 670 pounds from my credit card and I cannot get it back. Lloyd’s bank failed to ask for the credit card authorisation and post office enjoyed money from me. They went against the terms and conditions of our agreement and took money fraudulently.

DO NOT BUY FROM THEM ANYTHING!

ABYSMAL:

ABYSMAL:
Just a scam and blatant fraud, they are perfectly happy to take payment for an insurance cover that do not provide. Sustained storm damage with 90+ mph wind gusts and after weeks of chasing them up, they are attempting to wriggle out of liability.
I will proceed with this through the ombudsman.
My genuine and sincere advice to all - is to completely AVOID THE POST OFFICE FOR ANY INSURANCE COVER

Paid £400 last year for contents…

Paid £400 last year for contents insurance. I made no claims. Renewal came through for £500 which is a 25% increase!

I rang to cancel the renewal to be informed that all costs had risen due to inflation blah blah blah. Went and did a comparison on Money Supermarket and got almost identical insurance but insured for £25k more and paid £250!

Clearly they are just price gouging, costs have not risen 25%. I fail to see how this meets the FCA consumer duty outcome of price and fair value. It clearly doesn’t.

Post Office Robbery

Alan Hall
Dear Sirs,
I do not wish to renew my Home Insurance as your renewal price is ridiculous. An increase of £35 with no claim😱
Start punishing those that claim, NOT customers with 10 years+ no claims.
I can get a lower price with you on comparison websites.
If you want my custom, get back with a sensible price and INCLUDE HOME EMERGENCY COVER in the price. Policy H0000398185

Criminals - impossible to disable auto renew and an hour waiting to cancel it

Tried to disable auto renew one month before the end of the policy - spent and hour searching on the dashboard but could not disable it.

They auto renewed fully against my wishes

I was unable to cancel the new contract online

I had to wait an hour to get through on the phone

They eventually agreed to cancel my policy and made it sound like they were doing me a favour

Simply totally unbearable criminals

Try to rip you off

I moved home.
My policy cost around £50, and they wanted an additional £90 for the new property. Very expensive, because I had got quotes for around £50 for the new property.
So I asked to cancel the policy. It would cost me £8 to cancel, even though I had paid up front, and there was 7 months of the policy left.

Thanks, but no thanks.

I thought my Post Office House…

I thought my Post Office House insurance would cover me against Storm Darragh.
Several roof ridge tiles went flying but the wind has to be over 55 mph to claim. The wind which took my roof tiles was only 51 mph - Not covered 😡

Believers in witchcraft

Beyond belief how awful this provider has been for me and my family. Neighbours water pipe burst, bringing down our ceiling below and flooded our living room. It’s now been 6 months since the room was flooded, still no settlement. Today I got the first settlement offer, which defies all logic. Apparently the water fell through our ceiling, turning sideways in mid-air and managed to damage the piano and sofa which were a metre away (considered beyond repair) but miraculously, despite leaking for at least 12 hours, the carpet is not damaged and doesn’t even need cleaning! The contents of my side unit, have been assessed and damaged beyond repair, but the wooden unit containing them, somehow has no damage either! Water managed to soak through the lid and destroy everything inside, but somehow left that lid unscathed. Beyond ridiculous and beyond everything you’ve ever learned about gravity. Avoid this company like the plague

THE WORST HOME INSURANCE

THE WORST HOME INSURANCE, PURE NEGLIGENCE! I have been left without a working boiler for weeks despite there being a baby in the house. The home emergency service (CET) and the Post Office Insurance Team do not communicate efficiently, fail to order the correct parts, and take several days to even process the costings, you’ll be lucky if the boiler repair person comes out to you within a week of incorrectly diagnosing the first problem. CET say I’m eligible for up to a £300 stay in a hotel and only book 1 night in the travel lodge, and do not communicate this. An abhorrent and neglectful service. DO NOT GO WITH POST OFFICE HOME INSURANCE.

A complete waste of money..

and have left me without the opportunity of being legitimately insured and covered elsewhere. Did everything they could to snake out of honouring a valid claim. You'd think the Post Office would have learned to buck its ideas up considering the recent public scandal, but clearly not! I have no trust or confidence in this shameful outfit of an organisation.

AWFUl SERVICE - Having taken out home insurance with…

Having taken out home insurance with them last year, I telephoned for a renewal quote, my call was taken by a grumpy unhelpful man, I was so unhappy with his manner I ended the call and phoned back in, hoping for a more polite and helpful person, this time a woman answered and told me the price would be circa £300 more than last year (with no claims made and no changes to the policy) when I asked why it was so much more expensive, I was told there was nothing she could do, I'd have to go on a comparison website, get a quote and phone them back with it - the world, and particularly the post office have gone mad.

Renewal Premium Increased by 62%!

I was angered to see the renewal offer after my initial (and claim-free) year of insurance, which had increased the premium from £354.34 to £569.91. This had to be either a mistake or a joke. I was told it was not a mistake. Clearly, it is an example of predatory pricing, by which I mean low first year premium to sucker you in, followed by an increase of 62%, hoping that the customer will not notice! Shame!
