Sub Prime Insurance, stay away

Do not even think about getting building and contents insurance with the Post Office. My recently widowed Mother had an escape of water from a burst pipe in the bathroom above the kitchen, the water came through the ceiling and light fittings and flooded the kitchen, hallway and ran into the both the lounge and Dinning room. This happened five days ago and still nobody has been to the house to assess it. I have sorted everything myself and cleaned up the water and brought in dehumidifiers! will not be staying with this outfit!!! be warned stay away

Terrible website with no access

I have been a customer for over a year, but cannot log into the website, where the insurance documents are kept . I have logged in in the past, but not anymore.
User/Password not recognised, so reset the password, still not recognised, so try to re-register - am already registered, so clear the cache, still no go, so phone Post Office Insurance. Guy with strong scottish accent, barely understandable, eventually clears the old registration and tells me to re-register. Go to website, re-register "We are having technical problems at the moment". I will not waste more hours with this useless system. Will have to demand documents, information only by the phone.

Don’t get travel insurance from the Post Office, they don’t want to pay out

I have an annual policy with post office travel

When we had a 24 hour delay my policy showed that we were entitled to claim £100 max per person.
I contacted Post office to make sure I sent them all they needed, they told me I needed the reason and details of delay from BA and boarding cards. I sent them. I knew they wouldn’t pay. I was right.
Then they ask for details of outgoing flight too, to prove I want away for more than 30 days. They could have told me about this first time, but they want to delay and make it as hard as possible to make a simple claim.
They also wanted a note from BA as to the reason for the delay. BA sent a form to say the reason was “ operational” but that’s not good enough for the Post office. I have proof of outgoing flight, two sets of boarding cards to show the delay on the return flight,
now they are not paying out because BA say operational. So to make a simple claim for a 24 hour delay, they are refusing it because BA call the delay operational and BA won’t help me any more. So it looks like in order to get this tiny claim I will have to apply to the ombudsman. My advise, don’t get travel insurance from the Post Office.
When I threatened going to the Ombudsman they paid out quickly. However, anyone who has had to deal with savings through the Post Office would have had similar problems. Once bitten, twice shy. It’s no good having cheaper insurance , if, when you do make a claim, they try as hard as they possibly can to make the claim as difficult as possible, hoping you will give up. it’s the same approach that airline have, whenever that’s a delay or they cancel you.
But with Post office insurance you can, and should, go elsewhere.

It’s great, but not if you have a claim, however straight forward and simple.

Awful

I have used Post Office for home insurance for 3 years with no problems, however when my policy came due for renewal in January 2024, the service has been awful. Details were incorrect, wrong debit details were used and it has taken 3 weeks to obtain confirmation of the policy renewal. The online access no longer works and despite several phone calls and emails this has yet to be resolved. I will not be renewing next year.

Post Office/ageas Home Insurance with the post…

My Father John purchased home insurance with the post office over the last two years. My father made a claim on the buildings section after a rain storm had come through the garage roof causing a large quantity of water damage. After he contacted the claims department they informed my father that they would not deal with his claim as the rain storm did not meet their ratio of strong winds and rain. The insurance company the post office use is ageas insurance. Beware of these two companies who will take your money and not pay out for your claims. These two companies are bordering on fraud in my opinion and should be given a miss. The regulator of insurance companies should take a look at their operating procedures and ensure that they are fit for purpose.
