Terrible service online, great service in store. Ordered Euros on line, never received a confirmation email. Took a screen shot of order if I had not it would have been impossible to collect.

The service was awful

The service was awful. I ordered a large amount of euros, but when I arrived to collect them, I was told they only had €10 and €20 notes available. As a result, I ended up with a large number of small-denomination notes, which was very inconvenient.
If you are unable to provide the denominations customers request, you should make that clear at the time of ordering. Please do not offer a service that you are not capable of fulfilling.

Lack of ability to deal with system failure

I ordered money on the basis of collection from my local post office and after 2 unsuccessful visits to try and collect it due to a system error I gave up. Customer service said that the local office could process the issue manually but there is no proper procedure for this and, understandably, the person behind the counter was not inclined to make the issue as the computer was still telling him to not issue the money. Eventually I cancelled my order for collection and just bought Euros over the counter but this meant paying nearly £1 more for €20 less and I will need to wait for my original order to be refunded.

Terrible service and appalling rates!!

Terrible service and appalling rates!!

Ordered some VND (Vietnamese D@*g can’t use it proper name as apparently trust pilot class it is profanity…… well done guys!!!) and the confirmation email told me to collect on a specific date (a Saturday) after 1pm. All perfectly timed for flying Sunday evening, I arrived 11 minutes after 1 to be rather rudely and arrogantly informed by the staff that all post office counters close at 1pm on Saturdays! When I questioned why I would be told to collect after they had closed the post master looked at me in disgust for daring to ask a question. And repeated that all post office counters shut at 1pm like I was too stupid to comprehend them saying that in the first place. Regardless to say I returned home and called for a refund! that part I can say was actually handled quite well by the customer service team.

On a final note I’m actually glad the service was so terrible I never received my money yet as the exchange rate ended up been over 15% more expensive than just using my starling debit card in a local ATM in Vietnam.

I do not recommend this service! if you actually get your money you will have been ripped off! Just don’t waste your time. Only positive is the refund came through within 48 hours

PO - classic example of rip off Britain

went to buy £100 of Euros today at Oxted branch in Surrey. Rate advertised at the door was 1.113. Not good but decided to go ahead. I received 100 euro for £96. equivalent of only 1.04!! That is disgraceful!!
When I queried it the very rude man behind the counter said the advertised rate was for transactions of £1000 or more and implied I should have read the notice board more carefully. Never again and will encourage anybody I know not to use the Post Office!!

IT WONT ARRIVE ON TIME!!!!

Ordered travel money because it said it would be avalible to pick up from post office by 1pm (2 days later), guess what?! Not there, luckily not flying for another 36 hours so should be able to get it. But now causing me a 37 mile round trip to collect as not working near post office I ordered it from. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. NOT RELIABLE.

Buyback

Buying currency through the Post Office is straightforward but returning any unspent currency is not. The buyback rates are impossible to find on their websites and I was offered a refund value of approximately 70% by the local Post Office. Ensure that you spend the money abroad or use another currency exchange.

Useless, unreliable service that doesn’t deliver

Shambolic service and it’s no wonder the Post Office is a dying business. Ordered purely due to granted availability on a specific day after 11am. Went into the branch and it didn’t arrive - no idea why and took a phone number to contact as soon as the order is available . Still waiting 2 days after the date this order was to be given to my son as a birthday present. Helpline unable to engage and support so I’ve effectively gifted Post office £600 and they’ve thanked me for my contribution! Would never use PO for anything again

Not delivered.

I ordered travel money to be delivered the next day, before 1.00pm as I knew I would be in that day. No one knocked at the door or rang the entry system. No one left a card saying they'd tried to deliver. But it was marked that they tried to deliver and I wasn't in. I absolutely was. Then, when I tried to call the helpline, it asked me to leave a message and then cut me off. I've used post office travel money before and not had a problem but I'm not sure I'd use it again after this experience.

Ordered £1500 online to get the best…

Ordered £1500 online to get the best rate. Was instructed to pick it up the next day after 11am. I assumed that it would be ready for me upon arrival and only needed to produce an order number and ID. Wrong!
I arrived at 2 pm to be told that they they knew nothing about it( this is a main post office) they looked online and told me that they could see the order but had nit been notified if it and very few euros to give me, so could not complete the order.
They called an external office who I spoke to who said they would cancel the order and I could buy what euros they had ( out of my bank account as the refund would take a couple if days!) But would have to go elsewhere to get the remainder. They told me to goto another pist office, but upon checking, they didn't have any euros either!
I ended up going to three other currency exchanges and exchanging at a worse rate and having to claim back my loss!
Nightmare! Avoid, avoid, avoid!

Buyer beware - Scam

I bought some travel money online with Post Office Travel Money with a guaranteed delivery the following day by 1pm.

The money never arrived, the tracking through Royal Mail disappeared on that day (while it was due to be delivered).

Post Office Travel Money has denied me any compensation or refund as '' the money has not been delivered to you or been delivered back to us ''.

I had to hire a no win no fee lawyer ... I might never see the money again ...

Bought 2 travel money cards with £150 worth of currency on each.
I couldn't use the app because it asks for a travel insurance policy number which I don't have. Was told to call the travel insurance department even though as I say, I don't have or need a policy. Have had to make 5 calls so far and still can't use the app.
Travel insurance department now say I have to speak to travel money department again...

Bought €250 for my holiday at end of…

Bought €250 for my holiday at end of August, cost me £233.64. Got it in the post office but if i'd ordered it online it would have been £212.51. £21.00 of a difference. What a rip-off!! Emailed them, they said they would refer it to company that deals with foreign currency then got another email to say case closed. No explanation whatsoever. Had to phone them to be told costs more to walk into branch than to buy online. Nothing surprises me any more about the post office.

It doesn’t work!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND. THE CARD DOESN’T WORK!

While the process of getting the card and adding euros while away was ok, actually using the card was a totally different matter.

The card never worked and the only way to access the funds was to add the card to my iPhone wallet and tap but that only worked a few times when I had WiFi/signal!!

Ended up using my bank card and that cost more money or borrowing of friends and transferring money back.

Two others in the party had the same card and only one was able to use correctly. Not good odds!

Now looking at MONZO to use on next trip, no charges and reviews much better.

Disastrous

Disastrous. Not just me , but my travel companion. Stuck abroad after a hospital admission. My travel card stopped working after one week. My friends card never worked. Rang them and they said all authorised so they should work. They didn’t. I had topped mine up, couldn’t access any money or pay for anything. If this had been a young person on a first holiday, with a card loaded with their money and no credit card, they would have been absolutely stuck. My credit card was maxed out due to a hospital bill, had to borrow money for awhile. The card is seriously flawed do not have one.

AVOID THE POST OFFICE TRAVEL MONEY CARD

AVOID THE POST OFFICE TRAVEL MONEY CARD

Avoid this card nightmare
This card was suggested in the post office, unaware the staff had no understanding what they were “selling” they were in fact miss selling.
It was explained that with the card I could load currency to the card for no charge, and use it when travelling anywhere, with no charge or commission and when back in the UK get your money back with no charge.
Sounds great, so I agreed and got the card adding a large amount using my credit card (so it was protected) no the bank charge for that, but staff at the post office gave no warning so £12 cost so far.
Next day trying to activate the card was another fiasco, reading other reviews sounds like I am not alone.
Decide to travel to Spain, so returned to the post office to add more money, in cash this time, staff had no idea what they were doing, talked about commission but I had no idea they were reducing the amount I was adding to the card to cover commission!!
This happened again, only when I visited my local Post office was I asked how I wanted to pay the commission!!!
After paying another £7 commission I retuned and contacted The post office only to be told yes there is a commission charge to add funds. I was told it was free to add euros, but the Post office says you cannot now add euros, the whole system is as clear as mud.
The reading reviews from other users unable to use the card abroad and many other issues my advice is don’t get one, it is being miss sold and I will write to the FCA. The staff cannot sell these ecards as they don’t even understand what they are selling.
On the wall at the post office a large poster saying win £5000 with the card, asked the staff even that they could not tell you how to enter let alone win.
310 people gave the card one star are the post office reading reviews or even listening, clearly they do not care.

Absolute Rubbish

Absolute rubbish and Help and Support just don't seem to exist. I can't access my money at all! Once this is sorted out, I'm looking for an alternative.
