I have a Ukrainian family (mother and her 3 children) coming to stay with me - her husband has stayed to fight. Consequently, I needed a gas safety certificate. We moved here in April 2021 and one had been done in March 2021, but as it was over 12 months old, I had to get a new one.
I was told Premier Gas Services, Coventry, were doing these for free to support hosts and those fleeing the war in Ukraine, so I decided to go with them. As it was just over a year since we moved in I decided to give them my custom by having the boiler and 2 gas fires serviced as well - they quoted £180.
The servicing was OK but they wouldn’t give a gas safety certificate because the engineer couldn’t inspect the flue on one of the fires. I thought this strange, as the fire was only fitted in 2019 (all signed off as part of a new build) and I had a gas safety certificate from March 2021, so I had paid £180 yet still had no gas safety certificate.
I phoned the engineer who fitted the fire in 2019 but he said he couldn’t do anything for 4 weeks, so I went back to Premier Gas once I had cut an inspection hole in front of the flue.
They said they might be able to issue a certificate based on the photos I sent them of the flue, but they came back to me saying they would need to do a site inspection and the cost would be £45.
I queried this, pointing out that they offered a free certificate for Ukrainian hosts, but without success. I have paid the £45 but feel aggrieved, hence my low rating and determination not to use them again!

Wow!! Pretty shocked at this to be honest, not sure how to respond!! So, we provide a FREE gas safety inspection out of the goodness of our hearts to help with the Ukranian re-homing efforts. You needed a second visit from us (This is not free and was never advertised as free) as we couldnt guarantee the safety of your gas fire without being able to inspect it...... I'm a little lost at how we could have done any better and quite glad you wont be using us in the future, your custom would not be welcome!!

Polite and professional staff, they explained and showed everything we need to know or correct.
The certificate arrived within a couple of hours and special thanks to Premier Gas for offering free certificates to hosts participating in the ‘Homes for Ukrainians’ scheme.

The man that did the check was professional and polite.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to leave us sone feedback. When the bird was removed, the fire was disconnected from the gas supply. Under the Gas Safety Regulations we are duty bound to inspect the appliance and installation before refitting and connecting the fire. In your case the installation/fire was in a condition that contravened theses regulations so we are not able to refit. I'm not sure you'd like us to refit and leave it unsafe? The quote was just that, a quote and you are free to get comparative quotes for the sane work, but and Gas Safe registered engineer will tell you the same about your fire/installation.

I cannot recommend Premier Gas Coventry…
I cannot recommend Premier Gas Coventry highly enough. They came to my rescue three days before Christmas to fit a new gas hob and today lovely Craig fitted a new valve on my central heating system.
All completed to a very high standard by helpful and pleasant engineers at a fair price.
I don't know why I was paying for a boiler insurance plan which, when I needed it said I wasn't covered!
I have now cancelled that insurance and will only use Premier Gas in future.

Happy with the work
The Engineer who attended was excellent and thorough. He was efficient and tidied up after himself. He was both polite and friendly and I was very impressed with the work carried out on both my combination boiler and radiator. Would be happy to use Premier Gas in the future.
