I've sold the vehicle that I had…
I've sold the vehicle that I had insured through progressive and yet they're holding me hostage and won't let me cancel my insurance. I've sent several emails the way I was told to do with name, address, dob, policy #, and cancelation reason and date yet here we are. You are still taking money from me when new owner has had this vehicle insured for months. I would never recommend you guys to my enemies!
Caveat Emptor. Buyer beware. Don’t do business with this company.
My granddaughter was T-Boned as she was going down a one-way street. A vehicle hit the passenger side of her car as it entered the street from an intersection. The airbags in her car were deployed and she suffered a concussion. Progressive said she was more than 50% at fault and wanted the insurance commissioner to surcharge her for that reason. She appealed the decision and a hearing took place. Progressive had no viable response to her assertion that she was at at fault at all. They definitely acted in bad faith.
THIS COMPANY IS ALL ABOUT ROBBING…
THIS COMPANY IS ALL ABOUT ROBBING PEOPLE WITH POLICIES AND THEN RUIN THEIR CREDIT SCORE IF THEY DO NOT COMPLY. EASY TO SEE HOW CORRUPT THE SEC IS FOR LETTING THIS COMPANY OPERATE! I closed a bank account, I attempted to cancel the policy by phone but got disconnected. I am a very busy person and did not make any additional attempts. I got a letter in the mail from Progressive stating I now owe 7 TIMES MORE than what my normal monthly balance was at the time after they already automatically canceled the policy. Progressive became really aggressive with price gouging when they realized another customer was lost and then threatened to ruin my credit if I did not pay on what should be considered a fraudulent request. I called Progressive again after receiving a statement in the mail, and offered to make 1 final payment of the standard monthly balance if all remaining price gouging balance was removed and do not turn me into a credit agency. This greedy company would have not part of that, said have a good day and hung up.

They are progressing in stealing your money. Period.
Don’t do worst company ever, they will not protect you
This company will rip you off. I was in an accident last year. Guy ran a stop sign and it was high impact. I suffered a traumatic brain injury ( will have life long cognitive issues) injury to both sciatic joints which I’m now on my second round of cortisone injections so I can walk normal without pain. They sighted it as a no fault accident because there was no camera that caught the accident. Then they told they would reimburse me for pay car insurance up until the date I signed the car over to them. I never saw a dime let alone a call, then I find out the car I bought was being charged $25 a month extra insurance because I sent their smart driver device back. 7 month of not knowing this. I only found out because I traded that car in for a different one to get cheaper insurance. I was quoted $175 a month which I was paying $255 a month. Next bill come and it’s 212 a month. Wow wait a second what happened to the quote I was promised. So then I’m they will see what the can do to get my payment lower. I call back okay it’s down to $185 a month but they want $350 on top of the 212 I payed and that was only good for that day. WTH. So next insurance bill $265 a month. So I call and ask why is it so much more, first $175, then $212, now $265. There reason oh your raised taxes. Funny how everyone I know including patients in my medical profession non of their insurance went up. So they said they would cancel my policy. I know owe them over $500 because they didn’t cancel the policy when they said the would. FYI I still haven’t heard back about getting refund for paying for a device I sent back or the month and half of car insurance I paid on my Jeep. And I’m stuck being cognitively impaired for the rest my life because they didn’t want to go after the person that hit my Jeep (insurance company stated that he wad at fault per the damage done).
Thanks Progressive
If you want to turn your life into a…
If you want to turn your life into a living hell, sign up for Progressive. I was at a full stop, and rear-ended by an oversize tow truck. Obviously 100% not my fault. They did *almost nothing* to help me with this situation, and in fact NEVER EVEN SPOKE TO THE OTHER DRIVER'S INSURANCE COMPANY. Abysmal customer service
Be careful foreigners
Be careful foreigners, when you take insurance for your véhicule, you pay for one year.
If you use it only a few weeks, they make a refund by check you will never cash.
Even if your bank accepts foreign checks, they manage to refuse to pay.
I switched from Geico to Progressive…
I switched from Geico to Progressive because they quoted me a cheaper rate. Once I signed up, I noticed my policy amount they quoted was not the amount the policy was for. It was double the amount of Geico. Unfortunately I did not check right away, it was 2 months after. They added my 20 year old daughter onto my policy who has not lived with me for 4 years, has had her own car and insurance policy for 2 years. When I called to ask them about it , they said they get their information from public resources. However she was not on my Geico Policy so I don't understand that. I then ask them to cancel it. The rep said they cannot because the policy is less than 61 days and that is a Florida Law. However upon looking up the statute, it states: In Florida, you can cancel your auto insurance policy at any time, including within the first 60 days, provided you meet certain conditions. Specifically, Florida law allows policyholders to cancel their auto insurance within the first 60 days if:
The insured vehicle has been totally destroyed.
Ownership of the insured vehicle has been transferred.Florida Legislature
You have purchased another policy or binder covering the same vehicle.Florida Senate+1Florida Senate+1
This is outlined in Florida Statute § 627.7295(3), which states:Florida Senate
"An insured may not cancel a policy or binder during the first two months immediately following the effective date of the policy except:Florida Senate+1Findlaw+1
(a) Upon total destruction of the insured motor vehicle;Florida Senate
(b) Upon transfer of ownership of the insured motor vehicle; orFlorida Senate
(c) After purchase of another policy or binder covering the motor vehicle that was covered under the policy being canceled."Findlaw+2Florida Senate+2Florida Legislature+2
Therefore, if you have secured new insurance coverage for your vehicle, you are legally permitted to cancel your existing policy within the first 60 days.
If Progressive is stating that Florida law prohibits cancellation within the first 60 days, they may be referring to restrictions that apply to insurers, not policyholders. For instance, insurers are generally restricted from canceling a new policy within the first 60 days unless specific conditions are met, such as nonpayment of premium. This is detailed in Florida Statute § 627.7295(4), which states:
"An insurer may not cancel a new policy or binder during the first 60 days immediately following the effective date of the policy or binder except for nonpayment of premium."Florida Senate
This restriction is on the insurer's ability to cancel, not the policyholder's.
If you're encountering resistance from Progressive regarding cancellation, you may consider providing them with proof of your new insurance coverage and referencing the relevant Florida statutes. If issues persist, you can file a complaint with the Florida Department of Financial Services at myfloridacfo.com
. I have switched back to the Honest Company Geico, and progressive wants me to pay a very high amount for what they say I owe of the premium from 2 months. I will not pay as this was a bait and switch. Currently I am researching lawyers to sue this dishonest company. If you google online you will find many , many people that this has happened to. They will find anything to raise your premium, even by using outdated information to change your policy without your knowledge. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
Beware that their 5 year accident free…
Beware that their 5 year accident free discount is actually a 7 year claim free discount. I was told I had to go 83 months from any payout from an insurance company, regardless of circumstances or who was at fault. They don't tell you they're taking the discount away if they find a long ago claim within the 7 year window; they just surprise you with the higher payments that what was quoted and you have to call them for an explanation. I had two claims, one in October 2018, which was a flood loss on an automobile, and in March 2020, which was a stolen motorcycle.
DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOU
I fell behind on my payment for just one month and I tried to come to an agreement to pay twice what I had fallen behind, but the lady on the phone was not interested in reaching any compromise at all. This insurance company does not work with you, and I recommend not downloading their app. They might use it to monitor you and look for reasons to increase your premium. It's a heartless company. I had to pay for unexpected car repairs, which caused me to default on my payments, and they showed no empathy. I advise against giving your business to them. I would give them zero stars if it were possible. They don't deserve a single star. Shameful!
If I could give them lower than 1 star
If I could give them lower than 1 star, I really would. This is a criminal enterprise. They placed a $136 dollar collection on my credit illegally, then lied to the insurance commissioner about it. Insurance commissioners are bought and paid for, because I CANCELLED this policy and I CANCELLED the payment, and they still put this on my credit. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are corrupt.
AWFUL PATHETIC TRASH TERRIBLE SCAM FRAUD
Progressive is a pathetic and awful insurance company. If you want zero coverage, high rates, terrible customer service this is the crap company for you. Oh & you're better off totaling your vehicle or getting severely injured in an accident if you need any type of reimbursement. They can spend $3.5 BILLION on marketing and advertising each year but won't pay for any out of pocket expenses accumulated after an auto accident. 0/10 recommend to my worst enemy.
I went with this company from its…
I went with this company from its commercials, which was my mistake. I was told that there was a lapse over coverage (because my car was repo’d after getting injured on the job through no fault of my own). I was assured my rate (equivalent to a 16-year old even though I’m 54 and never had an accident or claim), but that never happened. I moved to Mexico to escape President Musk and cancelled my policy, then inquired why my rates were never reduced after 6 months as promised. Got the same lame “not my problem” from jerk on the other end, was told there’d be no refund. I said I felt sorry for her for not fighting for her own people. She said she didn’t need my “sympathy”, but she does. I hope she goes to church and confesses but thank goodness I’m done with the terrible place America has become! People are nice here. Actions have consequences, and they are inescapable. Maybe she’ll say I wasn’t “respectful”, but where was MY respect? I can’t recommend a single insurance company after decades here. A geographical cure might work for all of us with a conscience, and I’m very glad I still have one.
Scammer insurance company
Absolutely horrible. We had a hot water line leak flooding our downstairs bathrooms, kitchen, dining room and living room. We reported the leak in September. It being March we have only been issued $2,000 for repairs and they dropped our coverage….
This insurance company is merely Legalized extortion. Absolutely ridiculous…..
Obnoxious advertising
I don't have progressive insurane but I used to feel fairly positively about them. Not any more. Since they started the ads about 'people becoming thier parents' I would never consider Progressive.
These ads give me PTSD as my parents were just like that obnoxious man: paternalistic and patronising.
Getting Things Done writing what could be labeled as…
After writing what could be labeled as a bad review, I am giving our claims agent Monica Kyles an A+ for being a shaker and a mover towards getting things accomplished concerning our car. Kudos Monica!
Worst company ever
Worst company ever. I had a hit and run. They are nitpicking about the repairs on my car. It has been at the collision place since January 7th 2025 and counting. I ended up changing to Geico because of the aggravating experience I had with them prior to the hit and run. Avoid this company!
I will be suing progressive over False claim
I will be suing progressive over False claim on a accident. I was rear ended by a young driver. The claim adjuster favors in the young kid that hit me from behind. This company is very corrupt. People pay them off so they won't have it on their record even tho they are the ones who caused the accident!
Scam
Do not believe a thing this company says. They offer "snapshot" active monitoring as an add on, but the app is so buggy that it thinks you're driving poorly/under the speed limit while you're *walking around* with your phone in your pocket (and will ding you as driving dangerously for it). Every time you drive by a wifi hotspot, the app says you are using your phone while driving (and will ding you as driving dangerously). Their advertised affordable coverage covers nothing (like, absolutely nothing). And despite what they quote you as their monthly price, they charge a random amount, and do not disclose where the extra came/went. For our final monthly bill, they appear to have attempted to do maths to figure out how much they forgot/overcharged us over the last 5 months, and are trying to charge us double the usual amount. Do not engage with these people. They are running a scam.
Not bad price compared to some…
Not bad price compared to some companies for minimum coverage. Was paying for towing but had no way to actually call them or have them pay for it. So just paid for towing myself, because if I called them my insurance would go up. Almost all compare car insurance companies list it as an option. It's not an option I can use. They don't cover people who do deliveries, especially food related deliveries for a living. Can't actually provide coverage for doordash or ubereats even though it's listed. It says and shows options for coverage than makes you call and they tell you they provide no coverage. Have to do multiple quotes to be able to find one of thier plans that's cheaper. Can fill everything out the same way and get different prices each time.
