Terrible claims process

I used this company to ship household items from the UK to Australia. Four boxes were water damaged in transit, a watercolour mount and frame were damaged, and an antique dresser mirror, bowls and glasses were smashed. I made a very modest claim for the damaged items, based on the estimated replacement value and the cost of re-framing the watercolour. Not only did the company charge a £100 'handling fee' (surely the cost of the claims process should be accounted for in the premium charged and, moreover, there was no option to refuse the handling fee, the amount of which was not disclosed until after the quote was agreed to) but they have quibbled over every item - including £5 for an item of glassware! - and have refused to cover the £130 cost of re-framing the watercolour. I'm just thankful that there was not more damage.

I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the offer made by Removal Claims, who handle claims on behalf of our insurers; I understand that they have already agreed to include the claim for your candle holder, although this was strictly outside of the number of items declared on your form, which is why they had originally declined this, and they are currently waiting to hear back from you on this. The claims administration fee is explained in our shipment protection literature and is also noted on the valuation form just before the signature block. We do offer extensions to our shipment protection product, including Extra Cover which would cover the administration cost, however, unfortunately as you had not opted for this, Removal Claims would be unable to waive the fee. Please do look out for Removal Claims last email and once you have responded they will be able to assist you further with this matter.

Great service no hidden surprises

Friendly staff on pick up
Shipment took a little longer than expected but that's shipping not the company and we were kept up-to-date effectively. Quote was all inclusive and no surprises. Staff on drop off were fantastic called to advise ETA and super friendly and fast. Email confirmations on delivery date were exceptional service. Very happy with ease and efficiency

Premium price, dreadful service — major damage, no updates, no accountability

We paid a “premium” price for PSS (more than double other quotes), expecting a smooth, hassle-free international move. Instead, it was a genuinely horrible experience.

Communication was abysmal: long stretches with no meaningful updates, no reliable ETA, and constant chasing from our side just to get basic information.

Worse, multiple items arrived seriously damaged — including most of our glasses and kitchenware, and an expensive chest of drawers that appears to have been dropped in transit. We documented everything with photos and raised a formal complaint. PSS has denied responsibility and has offered no compensation whatsoever.

Independent movers we consulted confirmed what the photos already show: the packing/handling was not adequate for international export transit.

This is not a premium service — it’s a premium price tag attached to poor execution and non-existent customer care when things go wrong. We would never use PSS again and strongly recommend choosing a different company that delivers better quality for a far lower price.

Having looked at your file, I can see that your estimated quoted transit time was 2-6 weeks, and your items arrived at destination only a few days outside of this quoted time frame. I do apologise for the very slight delay with this however, we do always advise the transit times are estimated and subject to delays that may occur on route. Regarding your mention of yourself having to chase for updates for a delivery date, I can see that our delivery partners had contacted you once your removal was completed and would have provided you with the estimated arrival time for the goods, unfortunately as you can appreciate, they would not be able to guarantee a delivery date for you until the goods had been custom cleared and were ready for delivery, I apologise if this caused frustration however, as you can appreciate we would not want to promise a delivery date that could then possibly change due to any slight delays. After checking, I can confirm that following my search on our system, each email you have sent has received a reply from your move manager within 24-48 hours. I am also sorry to learn that certain items had arrived damaged. I understand that as soon as this was brought to our attention, we had submitted a claim for yourself, and our claims team have been in touch with you and are investigating your claim. I believe they are currently waiting for information back from yourself to be able to provide a settlement offer to you. I do apologise again that you remain unhappy however, I am satisfied that we have assisted you when possible with your concerns.

The van came at around 7:40am on Wednesday 28th January. The four lovely gentlemen worked efficiently and quickly. One of our couches was rather difficult to fit through the door in the living room. The four heroes persevered until they got the couch into the room. We are very happy and thankful for all their help, humour and can do attitude. A couple of them helped with putting the dining table together. It was rather tricky but again they persevered and got the job done. Thank you very much to you all. A job well done! We'd highly recommend your company.

I’m leaving this review as a warning…

I’m leaving this review as a warning after two disappointing experiences with this company.

The first time I used them, I was given a confirmed container date, but due to poor organisation my belongings were not shipped on the vessel I was told they would be on and I had to wait for the next one. During this time, emails went unanswered for weeks and updates were very limited. While the company eventually acknowledged a small part of the issue, the shipment still took several months to arrive.

Unfortunately, I assumed this was a one-off and used the company again. This second experience was significantly worse. I was told my belongings would arrive within 3–6 weeks, but there were no boats scheduled and no shipment date at all. The shipment ultimately took 10 weeks to arrive, and this only happened because I agreed to pay almost double the original quote to have my boxes sent by air. This time, no responsibility was taken for the delays.

In both cases, once problems arose, communication was poor and the back-and-forth was exhausting. Based on two shipments, I would strongly recommend others think carefully before hiring this company and make sure they fully understand how little weight the delivery estimates actually carry.

For your second shipment, we understand that delays in the sea freight process, combined with the decision to switch to air freight, led to additional complications. We always aim to provide accurate delivery estimates and clear updates.

We truly value all of our customers and take feedback like yours seriously, as it helps us improve our service. We’re constantly working to enhance both our operational processes and our customer communication, and we apologize once again for the difficulties you encountered.

Very good communication from the time I…

Very good communication from the time I first made contact with the company back in mid December 2025. They clearly know what they are doing and seem to be well organised.
My only suggestion would be to consider how the value of each package (for customs purposes) is best determined. So for example, if the goods prior to packing are determined by the owners to have a value of say £8,000 for shipping insurance purposes, how is that value apportioned across say 30 packages for customs purposes, when the owner is not placing the items into the packages, and each package is given a description which may not be an accurate statement of the content, and thereby its value.
