Shameful exploitation

Charged my mum, who is 88, hard if hearing and partially sighted £541 to open an internal house door, the lock was stuck. The bill wasn't even added up correctly. Bearing in mind the hand writing was appalling they charged £165 to open the door which they damaged in the process. New lock £125 but no evidence of a new lock, 2 new screws though, install labour £65 and weekend call out charge £85, plus VAT the icing on the cake. Needless to say will be getting reported to trading standards. My mum's pension is only £146 per week. Shameful exploitation.

Beware - they taking the ****

The guy that came said he wanted £289 to ‘break open’ a lock that he said he couldn’t open - funnily enough within a minute or so he had opened it - and the lock still worked - but he insisted he would still charge - when I said it was daylight robbery he said he would break the lock if I didn’t pay. I said I would video him doing it. When I phoned the office I was told that the locksmith could charge anything they wanted and that the minimum charge really meant nothing - it was £49,50 if I remember correctly. Anyway I offered him £100 which he immediately accepted - in hindsight I wish I’d offered less.

I found the whole experience disgusting. Beware of the locksmiths this service uses.

SCAM - stay well away

These scammers charged my wife over £600 to fit a replacement lock that is readily available on Amazon for around £30. Disgusting old fashioned scam. I only hope prospective customers read this and other reviews and choose not to call them. How do these people sleep at night?

Horribly overpriced and incompetent

This is a SCAM! I have called them by accident and because for some reason they have managed to get a high ranking on google. They start with quoting a reasonable call-in fee, but it ends there. Charges come up quickly I have managed to pay close to 1000 for a very mediocre security lock which does not even fit into the doors. Avoid at all causes! They are also not certified locksmiths and will just drill the lock because it's more cash for them. The web page is completely false the company is less than 2 years old. Also, it looks like they change them quite often. The positive reviews here are written by them.

AVOID

Please AVOID using this company at all costs. Scroll down on your google results and make sure you read Yell and Trustpilot reviews carefully before calling them. Like many other clients, I had an emergency last month as I locked myself out of the house and had to call for help. I found the company on Google and noticed reviews on Google were ok, therefore decided to call them (didn't check other pages reviews, unfortunately). I was nervous and in a rush and needed quick help. The lady over the phone said they could help, said someone could be with me in 10 minutes which sounded great, I asked about the cost, she said it varied but started from £59 plus VAT. A guy arrived within 15 minutes and as soon as he spotted the lock he said, oh no, I have to drill the lock down as there is no other way of opening the door, it will be £225 for that. Do you want to go ahead? I was pretty socked, but agreed given I had little time and he was already there. I thought it would take time or maybe be complicated but in less than 5 minutes he had opened the door. He then said he needed to replace the lock as it was broken, the price for that would be either £289 or £389 depending of I wanted the front or both the front and back replaced, having the front only replaced would mean I could not lock/use the key at the back. I was in complete disbelief but since I couldn't leave my door open agreed to have it replaced. The guy changed the cylinder, not the whole lock but the cylinder for £389 in less than 10 minutes. This was extra to the 5 min job of drilling the lock for £225 so I was already going to pay £600+ for a less than 15 min job. The guy then proceeded to take payment and handed me a receipt for £839 which included a never mentioned call out fee + VAT on top of everything. So from £59 + VAT to £839 in 15 min. I get it is a quick service and needs to charged etc, however after consulting with MLA certified locksmiths I have realised these people massively overcharged me and took advantage of my ignorance on the matter and vulnerability given the situation. I have reported this after e-mailing the company for them to look into the matter and getting no response. I am taking the matter further to ensure no one else is abused in this way. Please make sure you use a MLA certified locksmith, there are serious businesses in the industry whose reputation gets damaged by companies like QuickFix. It is -5 stars for me, they do not deserve more. To put this in perspective, I have used emergency plumbers that work for 4 solid hours, replacing pipes and more and have never paid such a large amount, I have used emergency private doctors and for 30 minutes of their time I have paid 1/3 of the £839 fee. My Samsung dryer was less expensive than that... Let's put it this way, £839 for 15 minutes of work really translates into an hourly rate of £3200. Think twice before using this place.

My girlfriend was just conned by this…

My girlfriend was just conned by this company. Quoted an already astronomical amount (£300) to let her in when locked out, the employee then pressured her into giving him another several hundred. He could have simply picked the lock. He smashed it out and replaced badly. The lock is not a proper Yale, it’s clearly cheap and generic and in the end she paid £562 argued down from £700. She was a woman alone with a man she didn’t know and was pressured into paying £700 new price (£700!!!! For changing a lock!) Do make sure if they get you to go to trading standards and the Police as we will as it will slow these companies down who judging from the frequency of these appalling stories on here of conning the public this way.. are in the volume game and will likely liquidate shortly and vanish.

Will return home in a minute and get the locks switched out as I don’t even trust having their locks in my house one bit.

Scam - do not trust them

I was locked out of my flat. They charged me £225.60 in total. £59 for the emergency call-out, £129 to drill through my lock so they could get into the flat. Plus VAT. I then found out that it’s a common cylinder Yale lock that he could’ve just picked. The charge for picking would’ve just been £59. So he drilled and destroyed the lock when he didn’t need to. He then asked to charge me £80 for a new lock but I said no to this. The locks are £10 online. Scam!

Terrible- do not trust them

We called them as a key broke off in the lock. First the locksmith told us he could not get it out and had to come back to get a new lock. The next day he came with a lock which suddenly was over £300. However, when my husband looked at the old lock that he had taken out, he could dislocate the broken key and remove it. There was no need for a new lock in the first place. Then the locksmith put the lock the WRONG way round back- now one cannot even close it. This was yesterday- and we are still waiting for them to come back and correct the mistake - and to refund us the money for the clearly not needed lock. The office kept promising he would turn up today, but now the phone does not even work any more- the number you have dialled is temporarily out of service. Very disappointing- will report this to trading standards.

Scam Company - DON’T CALL THEM

The engineer had come and stated that it’d cost £250 to screw out the lock and another £180 to put it back in. After reluctantly saying no, they said I had to pay the call out fee of £89 + VAT, which I then called the number and asked what the call out fee was and they had said it was £49. He then said it was a mistake and went on to charge the following.

Called TheLondonLocksmith and they had quoted a fixed price of £94.00 and had solved the problem perfectly.

Don’t go with this company, scammers.

He showed me how the cylinder hadnt even had the screws put back in and said the part Quickfix replaced was cheap and the wrong model and prob cost about £20.

Would give zero stars if I could

Would give zero stars if I could. Totally scam. Charged my over £600 for a call out. We're st the property for less than 20 minutes. Charged me £350 for a lock that costs £30 in the shops. Not only that, but Charged £90 + VAT to fit it (took less than 5 mins) after £150 + VAT call out charge. Tried to contact them since but can't get through. Person at end of phone just says need to send email but no reply to email for weeks. AVOID THESE SCAMMERS

Absolute scam

Absolute scam. Quote £65 for the callout, when the man arrives charges £155 to drill the lock out to get in, then £225 for a basic yale lock that costs £25 in a standard locksmith/keycutter shop. All this without VAT, total came to close to £530.
I've spoken to 2 different locksmiths since who confirm £65 for call out but only another £100 total for everything else. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE

Price gouging scam artists

Price gouging scam artists

After an initial quote of £240 over the phone (already outrageous), the price quickly rose to nearly £700, then again to £1000. They wanted to charge £450 for a lock that costs £45. It then desended into a shouting match with the man who came over.

Disgusting behaviour. Complete con-men. Please stay away from this company.
