Worst experience ever

Worst experience ever. Lady over the phone said it would cost around £50. When the person arrived and when asked how much it would cost he then said £300. THE PRICE DOUBLED to £640!!! RIP OFF!

Expensive and dishonest…

I am loathed to give it one star but that is the minimum. When the locksmith arrived I asked about the money and he replied, "let's see what we can do for you first". He then fiddled with the lock for a while and told me he needed to replace it, the lock cost £120. He finished the job and charged me £454.80 for an hour's work. This included a £50 call out charge, £150 labour for an hour PLUS £59 for changing the lock (which I argued was labour and should not be added). Judging by other reviews it was not a one-off, this is how they work. It is both expensive and dishonest.

I would give minus stars

I would give minus stars. I had to click 1 star to let me leave a review. Please don’t use this company. Today they called at my Mothers house. She is bedridden and 88 years old. Quick fix quoted £59.00 over the phone. Charged her £600.00 plus vat. £720.00. She paid by debit card so we can’t cancel the payment. The work was not finished.
Full payment taken. We have gone to the police and they are looking into this as fraud with deceit. Please don’t use this company.

This is a rip off

This is a rip off! Was given one quote verbally, however, after the job was done was asked to pay a £100 more. The manager in the office was quite rude on the phone. Deeply regret calling this company!

Report them to fair trading standards!

The price I was quoted and the price I paid were very different. They will charge for add ons and not be clear and then stand there and aggressively demand money at the door. Avoid at all costs- they are rip off artists.I am going to report them to fair trading standard as the man stood there and told me one price and then demanded a higher price at the end.

Con men... Avoid at all costs...

This company only got my business as they were the first to pick up at 7:30am on a Saturday and say thet could get someone to me.. Only a £49 call out.. I should have known better.
The man who arrived was inexperienced, later admitted he had no prior experience of a multi-locking system such as is common on a composite front door these days... he eventually called for assistance as he couldn't complete the job or even get the lock back in the door.. help eventually arrived, and a makeshift repair completed.
Then the invoice made an appearance, over £500 and when I asked to see how the figure was calculated, where was the price list, nothing was produced.
I called their office for help and was given abuse down the line... I have to admit I paid them simply to get rid of them, and when I asked them to clean the door as it was covered with mucky fingerprints, they just laughed at me as they walked away.
Avoid them like you would the plague.. absolute con men !!

Massively overpriced

The guy who came round, I cannot fault. However he was round for 5 minutes maximum and they charged over £300. The costs QuickFix charge compared to other companies is ridiculous, do not use them, many other services on the market offering the same service at half the price

Price gouging

Dear Sirs,
I have tried to speak to someone in your office regarding the installation of an Ingersoll Nitghlatch lock on our front door.
Bob the locksmith who came was very professional and polite. The issue was resolved within minutes and I only have praise for his work.
However, I see that the same lock is available for under £200 including VAT.
I believe that your price qualifies as price gouging and I would ask you to reconsider.
One can argue that the callout fee or the installation costs are too high but I accept these. I do not accept that you more than double the cost of the lockset and then add a 20% VAT on top of that. £ 808 to replace a lock is unconscionable!
By the way, the part of the lockset on the door jamb was not replaced.

Rip off merchants!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

All these bad reviews are correct! On the 27th May 2021, I experienced the same things, as many other people. I called this company and several other companies, as I was locked out of my flat and asked them all for quotes. This company said they could get to me in 30mins, and I was quoted over the phone £59.00 plus VAT. They do not tell you there is a call out fee nor do they say anything on their website about any prices or fees. They turned up 40mins later. They told me I needed to get an upgrade on my lock as it wasn't a standard lock and charged me £125.00 call out fee. Total cost £306.00 which is an absolute joke for 3mins work. I kept asking how much would the total cost would be, but he would not give me a total price until he had done the work. They also damaged my door in the process. Awful, AWFUL company, I was desperate at the time and they pray on the venerable, for sure.

SCAM

SCAM!

Rang the number and was told someone would be with me within 45 minutes. After an hour someone rang me to say that he would be 25 minutes.
This is half past midnight. He turns up, looks at the door and says he can’t do it, it’s too big of a job and would be expensive. Right, so I asked him to just secure my door. Turns out he can’t do that either.
Charged me £70 call out fee because “it’s a luxury to have someone come out on a Sunday night”.
I stated that I was an A&E nurse and that I was tired after a 14 hour shift and I was in work the same tomorrow early. He replied that I wasn’t the only one who worked hard.

Rude, unhelpful and conned me out of £70.

I’m now sat here with a door that isn’t secure and two children in bed.

So disappointed!

Avoid.

Quoted £900 to replace a front door lock, which included £602.00 for a lock easily available online for £65. Local locksmith subsequently quoted £200 for the whole job including labour.

DO NOT USE

DO NOT USE

I don't tend to leave reviews but after calling the company back after catching them out on an absolute scam they refused to respond or address my concern and I have since not been able to get in contact so in the hopes of saving someone else some pain, here goes...

Called out to fix my front door as the locking mechanism isn't catching anymore. Engineer turned up with 2 extra helpers which I thought was strange to start with, he took the lock apart told me there was a crack in the lock so a whole new one would need to be fitted, as luck would have it he had one on the van so he could do it there and then. The lock would cost £385 + £80 labour per person so that's £240 as there were 3 of them there (2 just stood there holding the door whilst he drilled the lock.) Plus vat so overall near enough £700. I told him that seemed excessive as a whole new door would cost less...he asked me how much I could pay if we did it off the books and he "helped me out"...I told him not to worry and to put the lock back in, I'd sort it out elsewhere, after all that he tried to charge me an emergency £100 callout and consultation. When I showed him the free quote claim on the website and offered to call the Head office to figure out what needed paying he and his 2 friends very quickly picked up their bags and dashed away... called timpson out instead, guy fixed the door within the hour and the whole thing, labour included, cost us £140.

Avoid these scam artists like the plague!
